The role was to deliver infrastructure projects on Bell’s clients but unfortunately due to lack of opportunities within Bell's pipeline it was decided that the role would became redundant due to budget constraints. Running with a number of infrastructure projects within the Global Infrastructure Team. My key project is being responsible for the implementation of the Oracle Exadata platform across all of the global business. We have currently implemented a number of Exadata’s across all of our data centres within the UK & US This also includes working closely with 3rd party vendors such as Oracle in the scheduling of the installations and working alongside our change board to ensure that these implementations are approved by the Change Approval Board.Once the Exadata have transitioned to BAU support then I am also responsible for the migration of our current applications to the Exadata platforms working closely with our BAU support teams.My major oracle projects included 10g to 11g upgrades, running a 12c POC to look at new 12c functionality then managing the upgrade of the 11g databases to 12c on completion of the POC

I would also communicate, on a weekly basis, a status update to our Exec team on the Exadata rollout and all other projects in my portfolioI would also manage the delivery resources within the build team to deliver my projects which included linux, storage, windows (eg 2003-2012 upgrades), Citrix (Netscaler upgrades, XenApp & XenDesktop), Oracle, SQL (eg 2008-2014 upgrades), virtualization & VMWare (P2V) and cloud based solutions, including an O365 roll out, projects within my portfolio. In this role my primary function was to manage the delivery of the infrastructure and commerce application to our clients on linux & AIX platforms and managing the resources to achieve this. My primary role was to manage a team of 8-10 Solaris & Linux SA’s, Netbackup Backup & Storage specialists. The team’s remit is to look at building new solutions with new technologies and builds for our customers. This covers the whole solution including OS, Storage and Backup, and then documenting it before handing it over to the BAU team. I also sat on the Architectural Review Board to agree strategies and technologies for the business. I also worked closely with IT Security to ensure that all of our servers met the requirements for ISO 270001 and PCI compliance, this included ‘pen’ testing and hardening of servers. I also implemented a patching strategy and a new patching tool called 'Sun Connections'. This would allow us to automate the analysis and patching of all of the servers within our estate (Solaris, AIX & Linux)via the portal. It would also ensure all pre-reqs were made before patching commenced. I also used off-shore to do the patching out of hours. I also worked very closely with the Infrastructure PM’s in ensuring my team delivered on time.I also managed the Engineering area where we ‘engineer’ new solutions. As the team did not exist initially I was responsible for the recruitment of staff, both permanent and contractors. Before the group was setup I managed the BAU unix support team.I also conduct 1-2-1’s with my staff and set KPI’s for each of my permanent staff and also perform their annual reviews, and have regular team meeting as I feel that communication is key.
