Verifying Immigration Status for Marketplace Applications The following documents may be used to verify immigration status to determine eligibility for Marketplace coverage. Consumers only need to provide one of these documents if the Hub is unable to verify their immigration status through its trusted data sources. Immigration status is only checked for consumers who are applying for coverage through the Marketplace – not for other members of the household who aren’t applying for coverage.

  • Verifying Immigration Status for Marketplace Applications

    The following documents may be used to verify immigration status to determine eligibility for Marketplace coverage.

    Consumers only need to provide one of these documents if the Hub is unable to verify their immigration status through

    its trusted data sources. Immigration status is only checked for consumers who are applying for coverage through the

    Marketplace – not for other members of the household who aren’t applying for coverage.

  • Additional Types of Supporting Documents

    These documents can also be used to verify consumers’ immigration status for the Marketplace to determine eligibility

    for health coverage through the Marketplace:

    Documentation indicating membership in a federally recognized Indian tribe or American Indian born in Canada

    Certification from the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)

    HHS ORR eligibility letter (if under 18)

    Documentation indicating a consumer is a Cuban/Haitian entrant

    Documentation indicating withholding of removal (or “withholding of deportation”)

    Administrative order staying removal issued by the DHS Documentation indicating a consumer is a resident of American Samoa
