How to describe today’s automobiles?
What is V2X?
V2X is a form of technology thatallows vehicles to communicate withmoving parts of the traffic systemaround them. V2X, or connected-vehicle-to-everything communication
• Car operating systems running everything from infotainment to autonomous driving, vehicles are becoming ever more intelligent and less reliant on human operation.
• V2X, which stands for 'vehicle to everything', is the umbrella term for the car's communication system, where information from sensors and other sources travels via high-bandwidth, low-latency, high-reliability links
Why V2X?oRoad safety,
oTraffic efficiency, and
oEnergy savings

DZ Objectives:
• Demonstration of Ontario-made technologies that are transformative and commercially ready for application in the mass light-vehicle,transportation infrastructure, heavy vehicle, intelligent transportation systems ("ITS") and transit-supportive systems and vehicles;
• Activities, both technological and promotional, for Ontario-based SMEs to showcase technologies to current and potential customers; and• Strengthen Ontario’s position as a globally recognized connected and autonomous vehicle (C/AV) and connected (smart) infrastructure

Demonstration Zone | FLEET
The AVIN/APMA DZ will feature a rolling fleet of 20 vehicles: 10 passenger vehicles sourced from the five OEMs inOntario, and 10 fleet vehicles from the City of Stratford, including municipal buses and utility trucks. APMA’s experiencedteam (with support from its members, which have an established track record of working with OEMs and large customers,like the Tier 1s), will work with tech companies to ensure that their technology is ready for commercial demonstration.

Demonstration Zone | DSRC vs. 5G
• Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) radiois the technology that is currently predominate inthe connected vehicle market.
• DSRC systems consist of short-range, wireless links totransfer data between vehicles and:
• Roadside units,• Other vehicles,• Portable units (Pedestrians).
• Cellular V2X (C-V2X) is based upon a next-generationversion of the technology used by your mobilephone: 5G.
• Perceived advantages over DSRC are;
• Greater interoperability• Wider bandwidth• Increased cybersecurity• Decentralized network running on private cell
towers vs. dedicated roadside units
