Vehicle Ideas And Development Drawings

Here are some of my development drawings, the ideas go from a steam powered train and car to all so a carriage and also a penny farthing.

Final designThe mortifer

This is my final design. The car is a steampunk version of the very first car used in Victorian time. The weapon for this car is the demon Malum, who is currently living in Rozabell’s body when needed Malum will emerge from the roof of the car and will conger a huge ball of dark matter/ bad energy which he will throw at the target selected.

Here are my final digital designs that I've drawn on Photoshop.

Final design

Vehicle name: The MortiferTop speed: 60mphWeight: 1850 poundsWeapon: Malum the demon

Vehicle history: the Mortifer was created by Victor VonTrinket the father of Rozabel VonTrinket he made this car by combining the two designs of the ‘Columbia 8 passenger private bus’ and the ‘Lansden, model 56, “The Electrette”. The vehicle didn’t get its name till after the unfortunate death of Victor and because of Rozabels deal with the devil she then named the car ‘The Mortifer’

Weapon animation

Here is the code to make my weapon appear, fire and disappear. Also to the right is the particle systems that I have attached to my vehicle, and on the bottom left is the video render for my vehicle animation.

12 principles of animation

Squash And Stretch: This gives a drawn object a sense of weight and flexibility, for example when a ball hits the floor it would be squashed down a little depending on the force. It can also be shown with muscle movement.

Anticipation:This is used to prepare the audience for an action. For example a golfer swinging the club back before hitting the ball.

Staging:This has the purpose to direct the audiences attention to show the most important person/item/thing in the scene. For example in a horror the villain would be in the background of the scene.

Straight Ahead Action and Pose To Pose:Theses are two different approaches of the actual drawing process "Straight ahead action" scenes are animated frame by frame from beginning to end, while "pose to pose" involves starting with drawing a few key frames, and then filling in the intervals later.

12 principles of animation

Follow Through and Overlapping Action:These help to render movement more realistically, and help to give the impression that characters follow the laws of physics for example when jumping at the end the character would have to bend their knees.

Ease In and Ease Out:This is the movement of the human body, and most other objects that needs time to accelerate and slow down.

12 principles of animation

Arc:This technique can be applied to a moving limb by rotating a joint, or a thrown object moving along a parabolic trajectory. The exception is mechanical movement, which typically moves in straight lines. For example when an arm moves.

Secondary Action:Adding secondary actions to the main action gives a scene more life, and can help to support the main action. A person walking can simultaneously swing their arms or keep them in their pockets, speak or whistle, or express emotions through facial expressions.

12 principles of animation

Timing:Timing refers to the number of drawings or frames for a given action, which translates to the speed of the action on film. On a purely physical level, correct timing makes objects appear to obey the laws of physics; for instance, an object's weight determines how it reacts to an impetus, like a push.

Exaggeration:Exaggeration is an effect especially useful for animation, as animated motions that strive for a perfect imitation of reality can look static and dull. The level of exaggeration depends on whether one seeks realism or a particular style, like a caricature or the style of a specific artist.

12 principles of animation

Solid drawing:The principle of solid drawing means taking into account forms in three-dimensional space, or giving them volume and weight.

Appeal:Appeal in a cartoon character corresponds to what would be called charisma in an actor. A character who is appealing is not necessarily sympathetic – villains or monsters can also be appealing – the important thing is that the viewer feels the character is real and interesting.

Motion Picture & Key Frame Animation

Motion picture animation is when we track the movement of an actual person for example a Kinect sensor uses the same principles and puts dots where the joins are and then maps out the rest of the body and uses that to control the in game character, but for the animation side they use is to record game cut scenes and/or fighting, climbing, rolling animation. The strengths of this are that it is more efficient with people and makes the characters look more life like. The weakness of this are that this doesn’t really work with objects.

Key frame animation is when you set an object using key frames and then move it and set another key frame and so on.The strengths are that key frame animation can some times bet predicted and it does it for itself. The weakness of this however is that is takes longer and wouldn’t reallt work that well for character animation.

Storyboard animation

Shape Invaders: this animation consists of four cameras and one main light. The principles of animation that are shown here are staging and anticipation.

To make this animation better I could add more principles and make the animation longer and more complex . I could also look into adding sound to my animation.
