VEHICLE BILL OF SALE This form can be used to evidence or verify the sale or transfer of a vehicle from one person to another. The party selling or transferring the vehicle should simply list the names and addresses of the Seller and Buyer, the price paid for the vehicle and fully describe the vehicle being transferred. The Seller should then print the completed Bill of Sale and sign the document where indicated and date his or her signature. The signature of the Seller can be notarized. The fully signed Bill of Sale should then be provided to the Buyer. The Seller may wish to make a copy of the fully signed document and retain that copy for his or her records. Note that the department or bureau of motor vehicles in each state may have a different bill of sale document (or other transfer, sale or assignment documents) that are required to be used for titling a vehicle or obtaining tags or plates, or for other specific purposes. Prior to obtaining a vehicle title or license plates, you may wish to contact your department or bureau of motor vehicles to determine what paperwork or document is required.
