FIBERTRAC, SOLITRAC, MINITRAC, POINTRAC, WEIGHTRACRadiation-based sensors for level, density and mass flow measurement
Measuring principleIn the radiation-based measurement, a Caesium 137 or Cobalt 60 isotope emits focused gamma rays. A spe-cial sensor located at the opposite side of the vessel receives this radiation. The so called scintillator convertsthe gamma rays into signals, their number is detected and processed. Because gamma rays are damped whenpenetratingthesubstance,thesensorcancalculatethelevel,thelimitlevel,thedensityorthemassflowoutofthe received radiation.
Applications
Level measurementWith FIBERTRAC and SOLITRAC level changes are contactlesslymeasured through the vessel wall. Since the measuring facility ismounted on the outside of the vessel, the measurement is insensitiveto extreme process conditions. Also measurements on pressurizedvessels or on vessels with agitators can be simply realized. For roundvesselformstheflexibleFIBERTRACisrecommended,whichcanbesimply mounted on the vessel. A high reliability can be reached withSOLITRAC on cylindrical vessels. The sensors are cascadable for verylarge measuring ranges.
Density measurementThe non-contact, continuous density and concentration measurementof liquids and bulk solids with MINITRAC is suitable for pipelinesand vessels. The measuring principle is independent of aggressiveproducts and ensures a high reliablity. The sensor mounting is carriedout on existing pipelines. With small tube diameters an inclinedradiation or the use of a measuring track is recommended. In casethere is also a temperature sensor connected, then MINITRAC takesthe heat expansion of the medium into account. Furthermore the massflowofMINITRACcanbecalculatedwiththesignalofaflowvolumemeasuring instrument. This ensures reliable measurement results andpermanent process continuity even with extreme process conditions.
Flow measurementThe WEIGHTRAC determines contactlessly the exact delivery volumeof solids. Through the frame construction, the sensor can be simplymounted to the conveyor belt. The measurement runs wear andmaintenance-free. A simple and reliable adjustment ofthe sensor saves time during setup. The WEIGHTRAC is suitable forconveyor systems, for example conveyor belt weighers, screwconveyors, chain trough conveyors, steel plate conveyors, bucketconveyors.
