November Month of Remembrance

During the month of November, we take time to remember all of the loved ones who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. There is a special Book of Remembrance located near the Sanctuary next to the Paschal Candle (the symbol of Christ as our eternal light). You are most welcome to write in the book the name(s) of deceased loved ones. We leave the book throughout the month of November to remind us all that November is a month to pray for the deceased. We will also include these names in our weekend Universal Prayers.

Mass Intentions Each time we gather for Mass, we hear the priest say in similar words, “Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy; welcome them into the light of your face.” Therefore, at every Mass, we remember those who have gone before us, whether or not their name is specifically mentioned during the Mass. We entrust their souls to God and know that he, in his infinite wisdom, will mercifully receive them into eternal life. It is nice to remember someone by name at a Mass but our prayers for them and for all who have died are received just as equally at every Mass, whether or not the name is specifically mentioned.

Virtue of the Week

Patience A fruit of the Holy Spirit that gives us the ability to wait with openness and acceptance for God’s guidance.

Love is patient, love is kind.

- 1 Corinthians 13:4 Holy Spirit, give me patience so I can follow your wisdom and await your guidance in my life. Amen.

Online Giving . . . Online giving is an easy way to

make your contributions to the parish. You can set up automatic contributions and are able to make changes at anytime. Go to https://oll-church.weshareonline.org/ to set up your account. Thank you for your support of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.

Family Consecration . . . Our Lady of Lourdes

is supporting families who are participating in the 33-Day Consecration to Jesus through Mary. This week’s topic: The Annunciation: A mystery of Faith. Our response to God's calls. What if Mary had been shy, or fearful, and had not agreed?

First Annual St. Francis Nativity Festival . . . On December 15-17, the parish will hold

its first Annual St. Francis Nativity Festival. Each family is asked to bring a nativity set to the church by NOON on Friday, December 15th for display and blessing. Each set should have a brief, typed note about the set (i.e. what it is made of, where it came from, history, etc.) This is a wonderful way for parishioners to share Christmas traditions and beautiful nativity sets! With questions or for more information, please contact James at the Parish Office.

Parking Reminder . . . Please Remember to

park only in parish parking lots or in legal places on the streets. Police are watching the area during Mass and will ticket those who are illegally parked in no parking zones or on the grassy areas near sidewalks. Thank you for your cooperation!

Religious Education News “Why did God make you?” a catechism of the 1950s asked. It answered: “God made us to know, love, and serve him in this life and to be happy with him in the next.” That is what catechesis – religious education – is still about today. You can make a difference in the faith development of children by helping in our religious education programs as a catechist or assistant in the classroom. Teaching children will deepen your own understandings of our faith. 500 years ago Martin Luther presented his 95 theses and forever changed the world’s view of the Church. But the Church did not remain silent

through the sudden shift. Discover the stories of six great saints who spearheaded the Church’s rebirth after the turbulence and confusion caused by the Protestant Reformation. Dr. Christopher Blum leads this comprehensive study program to present a specifically Catholic worldview that addresses the Protestant Reformation. Go to Formed.org and enter Parish Code 7RWM7V. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) If you have not received all the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation) or have an interest in becoming Catholic, the RCIA group meets every Thursday 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in the Apparition Room in the Ministries Building, 1626 Oak Street. Sunday by Sunday – Sunday’s 9:00- 10:15 am A time for adults to discuss scripture, enjoy coffee, donuts and fellowship. Come join us in the St. Joseph’s Room in the Ministries Building.
