Kaviza Client End User Quick Start Manual

This document provides step-by-step instructions on how to set up the Kaviza Java Client on your access device for easy access to Kaviza virtual desktops

The last few slides provide useful tips to resize the screen settings and perform ctrl-alt-del operations on the virtual desktop

Windows based end point checklist Verify or install JAVA (JRE version 14 or greater

Download from httpwwwjavacomendownloadmanualjsp

Verify or install RDP 60 or greater (mstscexe) for RDP Verify or install Citrix Online Plug-in (version 110 or greater) for

HDX (Latest version V1203 recommended for best performance) Download Location for Citrix Online plug-in 12036

Setup Kaviza Client Windows

Open a Firefox browser session Enter URL http[kMGR address]dtkavizaclientjnlp

Yoursquoll see Check the ldquoDo this automaticallyrdquo Click ldquoOKrdquo

Next you will see a Kaviza login screen

Enter your userid and password You will then be logged into your

desktop

Creating Kaviza Client shortcut Windows ltcontgt

Right click on the desktop to popup the desktop menu

Select ldquoNewrdquo and Select ldquoShortcutrdquo


ldquoCreate Shortcutrdquo dialog pops up

Click on ldquoBrowsehelliprdquo button Navigate to the folder where

ldquojavawsrdquo executable is located

Default location on JRE16 isCProgram Filesjavajre6bin

Do NOT click on ldquoNextgtrdquo yet Enter the text

Click ldquoNextgtrdquo Type a name for the shortcut Click ldquoFinishrdquo The shortcut is created on

the desktop with the default java icon

Download the Kaviza Client icon from

http[kMGR address]dtkavizaclientico

Right click on the shortcut and select ldquoPropertiesrdquo

Click on ldquoChange Iconrdquo


Navigate to the location containing the kavizaclientico file that you just downloaded

Click ldquoOKrdquo The shortcut will be shown on

the desktop as follows

Preparing Linux clients

Setup Kaviza Client Linux

Enter the following URL on the command line shellndash javaws httpIP_addr_of_KvzServerdtkavizaclientjnlp

Select ldquoopen withrdquo and click ldquoBrowserdquo

Setup Kaviza Client Linux ltcontgt

Select javaws and click Open


Check the ldquoDo this automatically rdquo

Click ldquoOKrdquo

Setup Kaviza client Linux ltcontgt

Yoursquoll get a security warning Check ldquoAlways trust helliprdquo Click Run

Yoursquoll get a 2nd security warning

Check ldquoAlways trust helliprdquo Click Yes

Select ldquoCreate Launcherrdquo Fill in ldquoNamerdquo and ldquoGeneric

Namerdquo entries with ldquoKavizardquo or any shortcut name of your choice

Click ldquoBrowserhelliprdquo to select the ldquojavawsrdquo binary from the JREbin directory

Do not click on ldquoOKrdquo yet


Enter the text

on the same ldquoCommandrdquo entry right after ldquojavawsexerdquo as an argument to the ldquojavawsrdquo executable

Click on ldquoNo iconrdquo and browse to the location containing the kavizaclientico file that you just downloaded

Click ldquoOKrdquo to close the dialog

Setup Kaviza Client Mac OS X

Go to ApplicationsUtilities and open AppleScript Editor

In the AppleScript editor window type the command as shown in the screen shot

In AppleScript Editor go to ldquoFileSave Asrdquo

Select ldquoApplicationrdquo for File Format and save your Kaviza shortcut to the desktop

Setup Kaviza Client MAC ltcontgt

Double click the shortcut that you just created to launch the Kaviza Client

Yoursquoll get a security warning

Click on ldquoAllowrdquo

Yoursquoll be asked to accept the certificate

Click on ldquoTrustrdquo

Setup Kaviza Client Mac OS X ltcontgt


Enter your userid and password

You will then be logged into your desktop

Adjust to full screen mode (HDX) Windows

Click on Shift+F2 to get you into full screen mode

Clicking on Shift+F2 will also show you the desktop window

Click the Citrix Plug-in icon on the top left most corner

Select ldquoResize Sessionrdquo Pick the required Session

Adjust to full screen mode (HDX) Linux


Select Advanced -gt Full Screen You can go back to the window

mode by entering Alt+F3
