April 5, 2019 It’s April and spring is officially here! That means the days are getting longer and warmer and we are eager to get outside after a long winter! Come enjoy a spring evening outside this First Friday and bring a date, friend, neighbor, or family member with you to see some amazing artwork, eat at the wonderful downtown restaurants, and have a glass of wine two! There is no better way to spend a Friday night then in downtown Vancouver! Happy spring everyone! FIRST FRIDAY DOWNTOWN HOTSHEET ART and more! VDA LOVES ART! As you enjoy your time celebrating original art in our downtown, be sure to note some outstanding public art. Four projects (Flying Umbrellas at Evergreen and Main, The Phoenix at 8th and Main, Movie Madness at 11th and Main and Heart and Stone at 6th and Columbia) were commissioned by Vancouver’s Downtown Association. Downtown Property Owner, Menashe Properties, has added an outstanding piece recently at 11th and Main. It is titled ‘Uskudar’ and is by local artist Lee Kelly. STAY IN TOUCH! Evergreen Blvd. Suite 300 4 Seasons features 4 artists; Steve Hill, Tracy Leagjeld, Romona Youngquist and Yong Hong Zhong, each with their own interpretations of the changing seasons. 5-9 pm. *3 Aurora Gallery (VDA Investor) — 1004 Main St. The Surface Design Association will have a premiere exhibition at Aurora Gallery showcasing 8 artists work ranging from fabric vessels to intricate wall hangings. 5-9 pm *4

House of Vintage (VDA Investor) – 1501 Main Street. We are proud to welcome Marion Held, owner/curator of the DEVIL-ish Little Things Museum, who will have her amazing ceramic creations for display & sale. Snacks and drinks will also be served. 5-9 pm *6

Kafiex Roasters – 720 Esther Street. We will be hosting a coffee body scrub workshop. We will also launch the First Friday passport as we have worked with all the businesses on our side of town to be able to add up entertainment for all. 5 – 7 pm. *7

Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie (VDA Investor) – 703 Main St Free Sigil Workshop with Artist Elizabeth Frazier! A Sigil is a pictorial representation of a person’s wishes or intent. Elizabeth Frazier will be showing us how to create our own! Instruction given at 5 and 7 pm, then Elizabeth will work with small groups, teaching and helping us craft them for ourselves. Free Nibbles and Libations, too! 5-9 pm *8

Vancouver Community Library (VDA Investor) – 901 C Street The library is proud to present “Visions & Voices,” a creative art exchange where visual artists and creative writers respond to each other’s work. Exhibit begins April 5th and runs through April 30th. 6-8 pm *11
