(**) The methodologies both for collecting, and for reporting, information on race/ethnic background changed fundamentally and substantially in 2010. The counts in years 2010 and beyond cannot be made fully compatible with those prior to 2010. Most substantial is the change from students being able to provide only one r/e background to being able now to provide more than one. Hence the addition of the line in these data for "Two or More Races." These new 2-race counts necessarily diminish those for most of the individual race/ethnic categories. An exception is that the new data collection and reporting rules work to increase the counts of Hispanic American students.

    * N.B.: The data for 2015 above are only very early results, as of May, 2015. The known outcomes reported here will increase substantially by December. Prior to the most recent two years, the data in this table are based entirely on student self-reporting through survey. Now, they are based on surveying, as well as using public domain sources (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.). This has added substantially to our eventual "knowledge rate" regarding first year outcomes of Vassar graduates. Reporting of multiple activities was permitted through the class of 2005, in 2009, and again in 2012. Thus, activities sum to greater than 100% in these years. However, multiple responses have not been permitted otherwise. Thus, these year-to-year changes in the data themselves result in some incompatibility in the trends as presented above and in the graph below. The primary effect is that each outcomes appears to decline from 2005 to 2006, and most appear to rise from 2011 to 2012. However, much of the apparent changes in outcomes (2005 to 2006, and 2011 to 2012) are only an artifact of the nature of the data collected year to year. This survey was not conducted in 2010-11, i.e.., for the Class of 2010. Also, the data for 2011 represent outcomes fully 15 months post-graduation. Finally, the 2012 survey was not fully compatible with those in earlier years, particularly as regards graduate and professional school outcomes.

Note: Vassar's method of accounting for AAUP reporting changed in 2005-06, to comply fully with IPEDS definitions. It changed again in 2012-13 to include only tenured and tenure-track faculty in the upper four academic ranks. Thus, from 2012-13 onward, all non-tenure-track faculty other than Lecturers are reported in Other/No Rank
