[A] Bollgard Hybrid cotton varieties (transgenic varieties)
AKSHAY BOLLGARD
Features and Benefits of our research Boll guard cotton
1. AKSHAY – 102 (PRCH 102 Bt)(Research Hybrid Cotton Seeds)
Plant height 5 to 6.5 feet – Very tall & vigorous plant with profuse branching. 2-3 Monopodia and 25-30 sympodial branches First flowering on 55-60 days Resistant to wilt and ability to survive against strong wind storms Very Big boll & more boll wt. (5.5 – 6.0 gm) Best boll opening(bursting) facilitates easy picking Superior fiber quality fetches higher market price and increase profit
o Fiber length (mm) : 30.5 – 31o Ginning % : 37o Fiber strength (g/tex) : 38.2o Fiber fineness : 5.6 (micronaire value)
Best suited for irrigated condition Very high yield potentiality up to 35-40 qtls / hac Gives good yield even in poor (light) soils
Special Recommendation:Spray of LIHOSIN @ 1-2 ml per Lit at the age of 80-90 days (at plant height > 5 feets )
will be more effective in controlling excess vegetative growth and to get immense blooming with close bearing of balls.
2. AKSHAY – 105 (Rudra Bt) Semi erect variety with symmetrical plant spread 2-3 Monopodia and 20-25 sympodial branches Luxuriant flush and flowering continue up to end Bushy plant with abundant boll bearing capacity Big and roundish boll favors good boll opening Excellent fiber quality
o Fiber length (mm) : 31.5o Ginning % : 36.5o Fiber strength (g/tex) : 33.5
Fiber finenesso (micronaire value) : 4.8
Medium duration (140-150 days) variety suitable for both rainfed and irrigated conditions Best yielding hybrid – up to 40-45 qtls / hac
3. AKSHAY – 107 (PRCH-31 Bt)
Benefits:PRCH 103 Bt comes with bollgard technology, which protects the cotton crop from
bollworms (Spotted bollworm, American bollworm and Pink bollworm) and results in higher yields.
Semi erect and vigorous plants with deep root system Continue long boll bearing series (sympodia)
Good hairiness favors best tolerance against sucking pests
Good fiber qualityo Fiber length (mm) : 27 – 28 o Ginning % : 37o Fiber strength (g/tex) : 31-32
Fiber finenesso (micronaire value) : 4.5
Early maturing hybrid can be cultivated even under rainfed conditions. High yield potential
o Rainfed 15 – 20 q /ha o Irrigated 20 – 25 q / ha
[B] Traditional Hybrid cotton varieties
1. Intra-specific Hybrids: (Gossypium hirsutum) or Intra hirsutum hybrids
GIRNAR
Semi erect & vigorous plant with profuse branching
Very big sized bright-light green normal leaves
Very big boll size
Roundish oblong boll shape favors best boll bursting (opening)
Very good ginning out turn and good fiber qualities.
Matures within 180-200 days
Specifically recommended for irrigated condition.
High yield potentiality
AKSHAY – 812
Early maturing hybrid suited for rainfed condition
Medium big boll size
Drought tolerant hybrid
Moderately tolerant to bollwarms and sucking pest
OMRI
This variety developed in joint research collaboration with Israeli seed company Hazeera Limited
Semi erect growth habit with profuse branching
Wide adaptability and drought tolerant
Medium boll size
First flower at 40 to 45 days
Continues flush and flowering throughout the growing season
Very good hairiness favors best tolerance against sucking pests
Early maturing hybrid and can be cultivated in dry areas also.
SORATH
Semi erect & vigorous plant with profuse branching
Medium big boll & close boll bearing
Non stop flush, flowering and continue green round the year
Excellent fiber property
2. Inter-specific Hybrids : (Gossypium hirsutum x Gossypium
barbadense)
OMRI – 2
Erect, vigorous and tall plant Attractive shiny dark green colored, glabrous leaves Profuse flush & flowering Abundant boll setting (nearly 300-350 bolls per plant) Excellent tolerance against sucking pests and bollwarms Medium boll size with conical shape Extra long staple hybrid and best fiber quality earn highest market price
o Fiber length (mm) : 34.9 – 35.4 o Ginning % : 37.5o Fiber strength (g/tex) : 38.4o Fiber fineness : 4.0
(micronaire value)
Long duration hybrid suitable for irrigated condition High yield potential – 30-35 q / hac
3. Indian Cotton: (Gossypium arboreum / Indian or desi cotton)
AKSHAY – 303
Semi erect and open type plant
Okra type normal green leaves Medium boll size with conical (elongated) shape
Best boll bursting favors very easy picking
Good tolerance against sucking pests and bollwarms.
Suitable for cultivation in poor and even in salty soils.
Fiber quality suitable for making sterile cotton plugs useful in laboratories and clinical work.

After 90 days of sowing, takeup foliar spray of 19:19:19 twice with a gap of 15 days. Dosage is 1 Kg per acre.
Micronutrient management:
Based on the need, take care of micronutrient requirement for the crop.
Zinc Sulphate – Spray twice with a gap of 10 days @ 2 gm per litre of water.
Magnesium Sulphate – Spray twice with a gap 15 days @ 10 gm perl litre of water.
Boron – Spray twice with a gap of 10 days @ 1.5 g per litre of water.
Plant Protection:
Sucking pest control :
Since these seeds are treated with immidacloprid, based on the need take up control measures for sucking pests. The insecticides recommended are Imidacloprid-0.5 ml/lit of water or Acetamiprid-0.2 gm/litre of water orThoimetaxom-0.2gms/litre of water.
Disease Control:
Based on the need, suitable control measures for Diseases are to be taken up:
o For the control of Alteranaria, Grey mildew and Cercospora-Mancozeb@3gms/litre of water.
o For the black arm disease control, spray copper oxychloride 3gms/liter of water in combination with 1gm/liter of Streptocyclin or Plantomycin.
o Suggested chemicals for the control of Tobacco Caterpillar (Spodoptera): Use Chlorpyrifos @ 750 ml per acre. Larvin @ 250 gms/acre or Rimon @ 200 ml/Ac, Proclaim@100gms/Ac
Alternatively, follow the recommendations of the state Agriculture universities in respective states.
