The Vancouver Drydock continues to maintain an unobstructed clearance width of 14m at the main entrance to the pier and a minimum clearance width of 8m on the pier, as indicated in the attached site plan drawing # 1 by Robert Furlong Design Co. The clearance width from the main entrance and at the pier exceeds the minimum recommended 6m access width for the fire department according to the NFPA 1, fire code. The expansion and addition of the new drydocks, shown in the attached Waterlot Project Site Plan drawing # 1501 by Advisian, will neither impact the fire departments access to the drydock nor impede access to fire suppression systems like fire hydrants and standpipe which shall be maintained clear and kept in full operational order. Seaspan Vancouver Drydock conducts monthly meetings and consultative engagements with fire departments from both the City and the District of North Vancouver. The goal is to discuss changes to our business environment and its impact on fire prevention. This engagement process also include support from our external safety and insurance auditors who continue to illuminate strengths, deficiencies, and opportunities that the Vancouver Drydock and Seaspan in general can improve to make our workplace and communities safer. Additionally, the fire safety plan for Vancouver Drydock has been inspected, vetted, and approved by the City of North Vancouver Fire Department and we continue to maintain and satisfy all requirements to ensure a fire safe environment. The fire safety plan and approval letter received from the City of North Vancouver Fire Department have been attached for your reference.
