Vampire weekend poster analysis modern vampires in the city

The picture of the album relates to the title as it is depicting a city in the fog which is quite mysterious and scary so is the title “Modern vampires of the city” where vampires are associated with scary things.

The black and white effect on the picture juxtaposes the title as the black and white effect suggests that it is old whereas the title says that it is “modern”

The fog effect on half of the picture adds an enigma code as you can’t see what’s going on there and you feel that they don’t want you to see what is happening there.

The black and white effects also suggest shadows and mystery this is where typically vampires would hide.

The light intensity in the photo goes against the traditional forms of vampires being scared of the light so the use of high key lighting and being a modern version of vampires and different from the traditional version.

The text in the top right hand corner of the poster shows an over lapping title of modern vampires of the city this connotes that they are integrated into the population of the city so are undistinguishable to the other people. The use of New York City is stereotypically filled with crime and is dangerous ties in with the vampires as they are dangerous.
