The Litostroj Power Group unites tradition, experience, knowledge and the development potential of several reputable European suppliers into a new technological power.

Together we can offer investors complete solutions ranging from development and design to delivery of turnkey hydroelectric power plant equipment. Our advantage is in the know-how and experience of our employees. Our power is in our go-ahead spirit and adaptability.

SPHERICAL VALVES, BUTTERFLY VALVES, ENERGY DISSIPATING VALVESSimplified yet robust design, high reliability, low maintenance costs.

Spherical valves - Main features

Used as turbine inlet valves:• Installed on penstock diameters up to 3 meters, for heads up to 850

meters of water column and flow velocities up to 15 m/s.• Due to its shape, valve obturator enables almost no disturbance of flow,

appropriate for negligible head-loss applications.• Valve sealing function is achieved with metal or soft rubber seal, where

soft seal is used mainly for lower heads. Both, metal and soft rubber seal enable drop-tight leakage of the valve.

• Valve seals may be carried out with fixed or movable seal rings.• Available with single or double seal, where maintenance seal enables

replacement of main seal without emptying the upstream penstock. Maintenance seal is applied by means of pressurized penstock water, however for additional security it is secured also mechanically.

• Valve obturator and valve body are made as welded construction of steel plates and forgings, for smaller diameters, valve obturator and valve body are made of machined forgings, whereas for larger diameters valve obturator is made as welded construction of steel plates and castings.

• Secure closing of the valve is achieved by using operating mechanism with weighted lever, whereas in tight spaces also double acting hydraulic-operated mechanism may be installed. Medium for operating the valve may be pressurized oil or water from the penstock.

Butterfly valves - Main features

Used as penstock guard valves, turbine inlet valves or maintenance valves:• Installed on penstock diameters up to 6 meters, for heads up to 250

meters of water column and flow velocities up to 9 m/s.• Valve obturator construction is of biplane lattice type, which enables

minimal disturbance of flow, thus low head losses. For low heads, single plane construction of valve disc is available.

• Valve sealing function is achieved with soft rubber or metal seal, where soft seal enables drop-tight leakage of the valve.

• Available with single or double seal, where maintenance seal enables replacement of main seal without emptying the upstream penstock. Maintenance seal is applied mechanically, for special applications may however also be applied by means of pressurized penstock water.

• For smaller diameters, valve obturator and valve body are made as welded construction of steel plates and forgings, whereas for larger diameters valve obturator is made as welded construction of steel plates and castings.

• Secure closing of the valve is achieved by using operating mechanism with weighted lever, whereas in tight spaces also double acting hydraulic-operated mechanism may be installed. Medium for operating the valve may be pressurized oil, for special applications also water from the penstock.

Energy dissipating valves - Main features

Used as flow regulating, pressure relief or energy dissipating valves:• Installed on penstock diameters up to 3 meters and for heads up to 400

meters of water column.• Jets from the valve may be released into the surrounding air, for special

applications however also under water.• Construction of the valve may be carried out as needle valve, sleeve

valve or hollow jet valve.• Valve sealing function is achieved with soft rubber or metal seal, where

soft seal enables drop-tight leakage of the valve.• Valve obturator and valve body are made as welded construction of

steel plates, for special applications also forged.
