The Eccentric Plug Valve is trunnionsupported and fully encapsulated in anelastomeric polymer. The valve body isfully internally and externally Epoxy coated as standard. A rubber lined option

is also available.

Offering a high flow capacity with a roundport design in sizes up to DN300 (largersizes have rectangular ports), the EccentricPlug Valve design ensures that the ductileiron plug rotates away from the seat assoon as movement begins, avoidingscuffing and thereby enhancing lifeexpectancy.

Materials specification

Design featuresBodyThe Eccentric Plug Valve body casting isin BS1452 Grade 220 (ASTM A126Class B) cast iron using high pressuremoulding techniques for consistentquality and precision.

Flanges are available drilled to PN16,PN10 or ANSI B16.1 Class 125.

SeatOn sizes DN80 and above, theEccentric Plug Valve incorporates, as standard, a welded nickel seat forcorrosion and erosion resistance,specially profiled for low torque andextended seat life.

An alternative corrosion resistant epoxyseat is also available for general duties.

Stem sealHigh integrity sealing is achieved bycombining the advantages of a resilient,abrasion resistant lip seal.

From vacuum to high pressure, the self-adjusting sealing system givespositive, trouble-free service and isretained independently of the plug stem or external torque device.

BearingsThe plug rotates in permanentlylubricated austenitic stainless steelbearings (sizes DN600 and above havebronze bearings) located in the body andbonnet, along with two PTFE thrustwashers, which ensure consistently lowoperating torque.

PlugThe ductile iron plug is supported onintegral trunnions, and is encapsulatedin an elastomeric polymer, providingleaktight shut-off in either direction,even under vacuum conditions.

High integrity sealing is achieved by anyof the abrasion resistant elastomers. ThePTFE thrust washers prevent entry ofabrasive materials into the bearings.

BonnetSuperior ‘O’ ring sealing on sizes up toDN800 means lower bolting stressescompared with compression gaskets.Asbestos-free gaskets are used on sizesDN900 and above.

FlowThe round port design (up to andincluding DN300) with streamlinedinternal contours gives classleading high capacity straightthrough flow in the full openposition, reducing turbulence,pressure drop and the effectof erosive media. Flow ofsludges and slurries istherefore also enhanced.

Sizes DN350 and above haverectangular ports.

InterchangeableThe face-to-face dimensions onsizes DN300 and below areidentical to BS5163 gate valves.Therefore, fitting an Eccentric PlugValve as a replacement for a gatevalve can be accomplished withoutpipeline modification.

Position indicationEccentric Plug Valves equippedwith a torque collar have openand closed travel stops and arefitted with an intermediateposition indicator.

The FlexCheck Valve is engineered to consistently deliver

dependable, maintenance-freeperformance

FlexCheck eliminates water hammerWater hammer, noise, high maintenance – if these sound like your typical check valveproblems then Viking Johnson have thesolution.

Introducing the Hattersley FlexCheck Its simple yet ingenious design features aprecision moulded fully-encapsulated steeldisc, incorporating nylon reinforcement inthe flex hinge. The ‘O’ ring profile seat faceensures a bubble-tight shut-off, sopreventing back flow at high and lowworking pressures.

The seating surface is at a 45 degree angle,moderating disc travel and permittingoptimum flow rates. The disc’s resulting 35 degree stroke is less than half the typical80 or 90 degrees of a traditional swingcheck valves swing. Combine this with itsflexible action results in significantlyreduced valve closing time, flow reversaland both slam and ‘water hammer’ effects.All this enables installations in far morevaried applications than traditional swingcheck valves. Close coupling to pumps,tees, other valves or accessories is also nota problem for this versatile product.

Developed primarily for use in water andwastewater applications, the HattersleyFlexCheck valve is engineered to deliverdependable, maintenance-free performanceover extended periods.

Manufactured from durable ductile iron, theunit comprises only three parts: body,bonnet and disc. The absence of movingparts minimises the risk of clogging andmaximises operational reliability.

Standard features include 100% full-flowarea and an epoxy-lined interior. A rubber-lined version is also available,ideally suited to the conveyance of abrasiveor corrosive fluids.

FlexCheck is suitable for installation inhorizontal or vertical pipes (flow must beupwards in vertical installations). Its in-builtdurability is demonstrated through anindependent rigorous 1,000,000 continuouscycle test and the hinge alone carries thereassurance of a 25-year guarantee.

FlexCheck is supplied drilled and tapped forinstallation of the optional back-flushingdevice, commonly used for priming, back-flushing, draining and system testing. Also available are valve-mounted proximitysensors to indicate the closed position ofthe disc.

FlexCheck is the perfect solution to noise,water hammer and high maintenance.

MultiPort Plug Valves

Design features

The MultiPort Plug Valve is a 3-way,non-lubricated diverter valve. It featuresan internally epoxy coated body and anelastomer coated plug face.

Materials

Valve bodies are BS1452 Gr 220 cast iron.Plugs are ductile iron to BS2789 Grade 500/7.

Features and benefits

The valve operates without the need for lifting prior to turning the plug.

Valves are furnished with replaceablesleeve type bearings which are ofsintered, oil impregnated austeniticstainless steel. Valve shaft seals are ‘U’ cup, self adjusting and replaceable

without removing the bonnet from the valve. The valve bonnet seal is an ‘O’ ring allowing metal to metalbody/bonnet contact.

Operation

Wrench operated valves DN50 -DN200, are capable of being convertedto worm gear or automated operationwithout removing the bonnet or plugfrom the valve. All wrench operatedvalves are equipped with a 50mmsquare drive for use with removablelevers or a waterworks T-key.

Worm gear operators, where required,are of a heavy duty construction with a ductile iron quadrant supported by oil impregnated bronze bearings. Theworm gear and shaft are manufacturedfrom hardened steel and supported inroller bearings.
