values - take a stand - updated presentation
DESCRIPTION
I use this presentation in my Exploring Majors and Careers class to facilitate an exploration of values. When each values stance comes up, I have students move to designated parts of the room depending if they Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, or Strongly Disagree with the statement. I then ask them to explain why they feel that way and why they may have moved since the previous slide.TRANSCRIPT
Values and Career Choice:
Take a Stand
Our purpose in life is to help
others and make a positive
contribution to society
I would rather make a positive
difference on the world than make
a good salary
It is important to make your own
decisions and do things your own
way even if others disagree
It is important to make your own choices even if
your family disapproves
It is important to challenge yourself and achieve goals that are respected
by society
It is more important to be happy than to
earn the respect of others
It is important to see as much of the world as possible
before you die
It is important to work close to
home and have good work-life
balance
It is important to have new ideas orcreate new things
It is important to be reliable and dependable for
others
It is important to be accepted by others and be
included
It is important to be successful
at making money
or buying things
Money is a major factor
when choosing a career goal
