From the desk of the Personal Representative Masonry in the Community

As we approach the Holiday Season, I would ask that we renew our dedication for service to the community by, “Committing a Random Act of Kindness”. We all certainly understand how the holidays are for some the greatest time of the year, for others, it’s dreaded and stressful. Masonry is still looking for ways or the keys to resolving its declining meeting attendance, member participation, organizing and implementing quality of programs and events. Getting involved in our communities may be one of those keys we need. We must first begin with re-building our image through community service. Each of us through our Lodges and Clubs should make a conscience effort to, “Commit a Ran-dom Act of Kindness”, towards our local communities and people in that community. This one single act would go a long way to promoting Masonry in the community and the ideals Masonry stands for.

We can do more for our fraternity by living the example we portray to the world. Set the standard at a higher level and then live by it or consistently strive to exceed that standard, it won’t take long for people to notice that you are a person of high morals, honesty and integrity. You will be recognized as a per-son who can be relied on to complete a task or implement a pro-gram and see it through. People tend to align themselves with success and in turn like to associate with other successful people. Masonry must aspire to raise the bar for its members and their position in the community. Community relations are an important

tool in building faith for an organization and gaining acceptance in our communities. We need to host more open meetings, invite in the public and hold informative events for the public come and learn about Masonry. We also need to get into the community, as Masons, and volunteer for their events and activities. Partner with your local governments, organizations and charities to pro-mote local activities, provide support, sponsor a little league team, etc. The more active our lodges and members can get in the community in the name of Masonry, the better our chances will be in gaining positive recognition for Masonry and start our campaign towards building our image in a positive manner. Let’s all begin the process by committing a random act of kindness, get involved in your community, invite your brothers to join you in these activities and get Masonry out in the marketplace of our communities and lets build our image in a positive way. Enjoy your holidays and I hope you see everyone at our annual holi-day extravaganza this December 11, 2009. God bless and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Sincerely and fraternally, Zeb E Blanton, Jr., 33° Personal Representative of the S.G.I.G. Valley of Orlando

Our annual golf tournament will once again be held at the Walk-about Golf and Country Club in Mims on 8 November 2009. Brother Franco Ippolito the Manager of this great golf course, has once again stepped up to the plate in providing us his facility, providing all the food and has contacted the various firms that he deals with i.e. Coke, Sysco, and other distributors; in having items donated to the tournament. This will allow us to provide more monies to the Foundation as a result of his generosity! Enclosed in the bulletin you will find an entry form for the tournament and how you can help support the Foundation by purchasing a hole sponsor, getting hole sponsors from businesses that you support, (get me a business card) or by getting a team together, or we can get you assigned to a team. If you are not a player, but would still like to help, we can put you to use, please contact me at 321 288 2703. We know that times are slower and harder, and dol-lars in short supply, but a donation of $5, $10, $20 etc. mounts up pretty fast and this would help us out as well!

We would like for all the Scottish Rite Clubs play an active part in this tournament, by stressing the importance of this tournament and that this can help us towards meeting our goal of $108,000.00 for the year. We would also solicit the help and assistance from the other Masonic districts within the Valley of Orlando, with your help and that of Brevard, we can make for a more stronger and active Consistory! We must remember that our designated charity is that of helping Children with Lan-guage Disorders and support them, in any way we can! Thanks for all that you have done in the past and looking forward in seeing you at the meetings and at the course in December!

Fraternally, Ron Trinkle, 32° KCCH Orlando Scottish Rite Trustee

Announcement of the 2009 KCCH and 33° Honorees

A big thank you to all who contributed to our new members for our Fall 09 Reunion. One thing we learned is that Lodge visitations definitely work; we just need to expand the Lodge visitations and the personal contact. Degree Teams did an outstanding job on exemplifying the degrees. We need to improve our efforts to bring A Master Mason to Scottish Rite. Now is the time to plan our effort to support our 2010 Spring Reunion.

Ill. Robert W. Moyer, 33° General Chairman, Membership Committee

My Brothers,

As this year begins to come to a close, I look back in review of a successful year for the Knights of Saint Andrew and our Orlando Valley. My goals for the year were to mix fun, work, and broth-erhood in allowing us to enjoy are roles as Scottish Rite Knights of Saint Andrew. The fun came with our successful social outings to Willow Tree German restaurant in the spring and our Luau fundraiser in the fall. The work came from our assistance in our two reunions this year, the knighting of new brothers, and serving our foundation dinner honoring Earnest Borgnine. The brother-hood was shown by all throughout the year but especially in our ritualistic meeting, our assistance in the reunion degrees, and our Flag retirement ceremony.

Our Last meeting will be November 20th and we will hold elec-tion of officers for the next year and the Installation of Officers will follow that evening. On November 30th we will be having our last social which will be celebration of the feast of Saint An-drew. It will be at the Fat Boys Barbeque on State Road 192 in Saint Cloud. Bring your wife or girlfriend and enjoy a nice dinner and program planned by Brother Mike Hemphill.

With this being my last article as Venerable Master I am proud of our organization and what it is all about, and want to thank all the brothers that supported me and the Valley in our endeav-ors this past year. Many years ago after joining freemasonry I

waited to join Scottish Rite and when it was the right for me I came in. I then had the opportunity to join as a chartered mem-ber of KSA and passed in that first year and realized my mis-take and got involved later. I look back now, not with regrets but with pride of who I am and what Masonry, the Scottish Rite, and Knights of Saint Andrew has done for me. My time spent has truly been a lot of fun and I am honored to have been a part of this organization and have served as its Venerable Master. We now need to look to the future as many of our brothers will be leaving the Knights of Saint Andrew and have been honored as KCCH. Congratulations to all those brothers and also those hon-ored with the 33 degree appointments as we wish the best for all of you. For those who will remain as Knights of Saint Andrew it is their opportunity to step forward and lead this organization to bigger and better things in the future. I know there are many good and loyal brothers in our valley who will continue to make this organization a success. I thank you again and pledge my continued support of our organization, and brothers both next year and for years to come.

See you at the next meeting. Should you need anything don’t hesitate to contact me by the following [email protected] or 407 947-6034.

Fraternally, Larry Williamson, Venerable Master Knights of Saint Andrews
