President’s Report

Hi to everybody,

Not much to report from me this month, I have only been able to get to one indoor session which was good fun. My only other attempts to get to the flying field were thwarted by a huge tree across my road blocking any attempt to get out for 2 Hrs and the next week my wife's horse unfortunately died so arranging vet’s and then stock removal and waiting for them to arrive was the weekend done.

I have not heard much off what has been going on though it looks like Dave had some fun with Lindsay’s fast wing!!

Don’t forget to get your used models ready for the Auction at the coming meeting.

Cheers Mick

******************

INDOOR REPORT 2nd September 2017(First Saturday in the month) Apologies from Fred, Mick and Mal. Geoff arrived with the 2, 3 and 5mm Depron orders - no excuse for new models now. Thanks for organizing the delivery Geoff. Barry Nugent, one of our original indoor flyers who flew at Warragul in the early days recently passed away after an illness.

Ash arrived with his usual enthusiasm and coffee and had a good fly with the night Vapors. He will chase up some spare parts for them next week. Graeme flew the Embers for him.

Jason flew a new home design (high wing sports model called Stubby) and it went exceptional – a great effort for a first up Depron model using recycled Spacewalker electronics. Also flew the Super Cub and Spacewalker

Gary again had a supply of models and also did some trimming on Fred’s canard while he is overseas. He had some good flying with the Sopwith Pup and the Spacewalker.

Bob had a different Quad – a new Fighter Drone and it flew and looked well but preferred reverse. Jason tried to correct it. The Pigeon and mini drones (JCR) flew well however and the Buggy raced around with FPV control.

Geoff had the Depron Bug and the XXL version plus the extended wing Micro Stick and an own design Lo and Flo

Graeme finally got his antique Early Bird going OK and had the Serene E flying well as well as the Sky Bug.

So a lot of pleasant flying was had with such a miserable day outside

I can guess who would will this battle ! Jason is going micro drone

September. Bill

is unable to attend and has arranged for Lindsay to attend.

Safety: Warragul Site: - Greg Mitchell – Nil.

Lake Narracan and Bluerock Sites: - Wayne Lewis mentioned that he recently test flew a Pattern

Model and it went off the air 3 times and was lucky to be landed safely. Wayne thought the cause could

have been vibration in the Receiver as the model was ok with throttle off. (that’s the only reason the

model is not in pieces). The receiver was only velcrowed as in an electric model. Nitro model receivers

should always be wrapped in sponge. !

Club Flyday - Sunday 10/09/17 at Lake Narracan

After a rather cold, wet and windy week, this day was pretty good with a light wind and although it was mostly

overcast in the morning we did get some sunny breaks and in the afternoon it was mostly sunny. The 6kt westerly wind

was cold but not a problem to the flying. The 26 club members on site had a great day.

Chris Davenport flew a Classic Trainer with OS46LA engine and flew well considering he hasn’t flown nitro

for a some time. The landing let him down but there was no damage to the model.

Dave Lewis flew his MXS-R with 55cc DLE engine with no problem apart from the smoke oil pump dumping

a litre of baby oil on the ground before he got to fly. He also had a nice Spitfire but it had a problem with the

retracts so it didn’t fly on this day. Dave also flew his OS15CVA powered GunnFighter which didn’t survive

the day after having a mid air with Wayne Lowe during some Pylon Racing. Wayne managed to chop Dave’s

tail off at the concrete strip and the rest of the model flew into the drain bank. Dave also flew Lindsay’s very

fast, FunJet, and trimmed his GunnFighter and his Percival Provost.

Wayne Lowe flew his DLE 100cc powered Extra300 and had no problem with this Large model. Wayne also

flew his GunnFighter and it chopped Dave’s model in half and sustained no damage apart from a chip in the

propeller.

Jay Wyntjes Flew his Bixler 1 and was really throwing it around the sky. Jay also flew his electric Boomerang

Trainer with no problem.

Geoff Bruerton had a car full as usual but no Jets today. Unfortunately the Lancaster had a binding problem

and didn’t get to fly and the Hydroplane also didn’t get to fly but I think the rest of them flew. A Mirrarna

Glider, a Kirrawa 2 Glider, the Durraga Glider, the Eagle which looks so realistic when in flight, the Taube, a

small P40 , a small Messerschmitt, Pawnee and Cloud King Old Timer.

Paul Mitchell flew his Calmato low wing and his Fun Cub.

Lindsay Lamont flew his Stick his GunnFighter and his Percival Provost and watched Dave fly his Funjet. He

also had his Twister there but it didn’t fly.

Clint Wilson flew a Twinstar that he had repaired from a previous crash and it flew well with both engines

doing the right thing on this day. Clint also flew a Skybolt Biplane with an OS1104s motor and had no hassle

with this model.

Glen Neal flew is OS35AX powered Sonic and a T34 Mentor with an OS81 4S motor and had no problems on

this day.

Greg Mitchell flew an electric 1/5 scale Sparrowhawk and an electric Pattern Ship that was playing up

electrically and was lucky to be landed with minimal damage.

Doug Jowett has a Bixler 1 and his Apprentice. Unfortunately he couldn’t get the SAFE technology to work on

the Bixler but he did have a fly with WL assisting. He didn’t fly the apprentice on this day.

Eric Spratt flew his electric Calmato Low Wing model , his Craze E Wing, his small foamy Glider and his

Sportster and took them all home intact which was good to see.

Ian Place flew his Maracardis with the OS61FP engine and all went well for Ian on this day.

Graeme Blackman flew two small Old timer style electric models which were a Quaker and the Mamselle

Wayne Lewis flew his ASP .15 powered GunnFighter and OS.15max powered Obelix, OS15 powered Sig

Wonder, the Mustang, a Clouds Fly foam glider and an electric Gentle Lady Glider and they all flew well in

the conditions. Wayne also assisted Doug and Ian with test flights. Wayne also put the Windsock back up the

pole as it had come down a week ago.

Ian Partleton flew his repaired Boomerang and Classic 40 Trainers with no problem once WL had trimmed

them out.

Godwin Bugeja flew his Bixler 3 with Wayne assisting.

Brian Adams flew his electric Boomerang and he had a small electric biplane but it didn’t get to fly.

Alan Law flew his SBach 342 with 30cc engine and a his electric Pilartus P6 with no problems on this day.

Alan Male was there for a short time and he did have an electric Stik model but I didn’t see it fly

Neville Lowe flew his OS55AX powered Stick and was flying very well in the wind. Neville also had a profile

Edge 540 with OS55AX engine but that didn’t get to fly on this day

Julian Zhu arrived and when the wind eased he flew his Bixler 2 with no problem.

Ian Heafield had his Bixler 2 but it had a problem and Ian didn’t get to fly but he did get to assist Lindsay in

the Kitchen.

Rod Hilsley arrived after most members had gone home and flew his Edge 540 with a YS 4stroke engine.

Greg Billing didn’t fly and came down to socialise and Bill Webb didn’t fly and was also there to Socialise.

Thanks to Lindsay and Ian Heafield for doing the Sausage Sizzle lunch !

7

Above – Geoff Bruerton didn’t get to test fly his Hydroplane

Lindsay’s Percival Provost has been repaired and flew well

The Australian Model Flying Day, which is a fundraiser for the RFDS will be on Sunday

October 22nd

at Lake Narracan. It will cost you $5.00 for a Sausage Sizzle Lunch and

$5.00 for each badge. See Eric if you want to register. Flying all day on land and Lake so

why not come along and have a great day. The Badges have to be ordered before the event

so if you want one or more badges, please see Eric and get your order in at the October

INDOOR REPORT 16th September 2017

Apologies from Fred and Gary

Ash received spares during the week and the night Vapor was repaired. He had some good flying time with the Vapor as it was almost new again

Jason had his Stubby. He also flew the Super Cub and a small Heli that was in the back of a cupboard – flew great. Chloe fiddled with a buggy and foam Fox glider even Jordan is twiddling the sticks!!

Bob had the Predator Fighter Drone flying more naturally (forward!!). The Pigeon is still flying and the Rock Crawler Truck raced around briefly with FPV control. Very hard on the eyes (Bob’s).

Geoff had the Depron Bug and the XXL version plus the extended wing Micro Stick and an own design Lo and Flo and he already is building from the new supply of Depron.

Graeme finally got his antique Early Bird going OK and had the Serene E flying well as well as the Sky Bug.

Mick had quite a collection to fly including boxed models like the Corsair and his own built 3D models giving him lots of air time.

So another enjoyable day’s flying was had by all.
