| VISION Profit has been the main objective of industries for many years. Important factors such as quality, safety and non-toxic products were of secondary importance thus neglecting respect for the environment and for Man. All this has caused the destruction of resources, the pollution of the earth, water and air and the accumulation of a large debt with nature that will be inherited by our children. On the threshold of the third millennium, practical and ethical reasons compel us to make a drastic change of direction that will allow us to transform the destructive economy of the industrial era into a system that is capable of restoring health to our planet and improving the quality of our life. For years Valcucine’s working method has placed aesthetical and creative requirements and the satisfaction of the user’s requirements in terms of functionality, ergonomics and safety in the foreground. On the other hand, this has been balanced by respect for nature through the promotion of a system that combines the use and restoration of natural resources with savings on raw materials by means of design based on sustainability..

| HISTORY 1980 / BIRTH Valcucine was founded on 17th March 1980. The partners were Giovanni Dino Cappellotto, Gabriele Centazzo, Franco Corbetta and Silvio Verardo. 1981 / THE FIRST KITCHEN 1981 / Mr. Centazzo designed the “Ghianda” model, the first door with a curved “soft line” edge and a handle recessed in the door panel 1983 / 5 STAGIONI The “5stagioni” model was presented in 1983. It was the first example of a modular “just-in-time” door in which the colour was added by means of a silicone trim (an absolute novelty). The “Mela” model was launched the same year, the first door in the world to be coated with PVC with the possibility of deforming the surface; another distinguishing element was the use of wood laminate on drawer fronts that were coloured in an exclusive way. 1984 / QUADRIFOGLIO: THE FIRST DOOR WITH A WOODEN FRAME AND A PANEL THAT WAS FLUSH WITH THE FRAME 1988 / ARTEMATICA KITCHEN: THE FIRST KITCHEN DOOR IN THE WORLD TO HAVE A NOT VISIBLE ALUMINIUM FRAME The “Artematica” kitchen programme was introduced in 1988 and is still in production. It revolutionised the kitchen door concept: it was the first door in the world to have an aluminium frame that was not visible from the outside, the first in the world with a layered, 5mm thick HPL panel, the first in the world in glass without a visible frame and hinge, the first with a system that conveyed water without wetting the door and the first in the world to be produced in wood and HPL in a single block. From the point of view of production “Artematica” eliminated the finished door warehouse and introduced the “just-in-time” production system. Valcucine formed a network of satellite suppliers with a quality and environmental-protection outlook (e.g. that used water-based instead of solvent-based varnishes). 1991 / SEMANTICA The “Semantica” kitchen model was presented in 1991 and was a new way of composing a kitchen by creating defined blocks. “Semantica” replaced “Quadrifoglio” that had by now been copied by many competitors. 1993 / FABULA KITCHEN: THE FIRST KITCHEN WITH COLOURED WOOD AND DOORS INLAID WITH PICTOGRAMS In 1993 the “Fabula” model was launched, the first kitchen with coloured wood and doors inlaid with pictograms. For the designer Centazzo, it represented the Mediterranean dream. 1996 / RICICLA KITCHEN: THE FIRST 2MM THICK DOOR KITCHEN PANEL

Page 3: Valcucine Company Profile - Architonic...HEADQUARTER Via Savio, 11 33170 Pordenone ITALY Tel. +39 0434 517911 info@valcucine.it FOUNDED IN 1980 SHAREHOLDERS 4 partners TOTAL AREA 33,000

The “Ricicla” model was presented in 1996 with an aluminium framed door and a 2mm door panel. Being the first to adopt technologies coming from the car industry, it was possible to make a 2mm thick wooden panel that was as resistant as a 20mm chipboard one. 1996 / ADI INDEX “Ricicla” was cited as one of the best Italian projects in the ADI (Industrial Design Association) Design Index. 1996 / LOGICA SYSTEM: A REVOLUTION IN KITCHEN ERGONOMIC In 1996 a new kitchen ergonomics system was introduced (“Logica System”) launching the new 80cm depth with equipped back section, the “Libera” hood that freed head movements, the “Ala” wall unit with a door that opened and closed by exploiting only the force of gravity. 1997 / MAZZOTTI LITERATURE PRIZE Valcucine became the official sponsor of the “Mazzotti” literature prize. In the years that followed, Valcucine promoted a series of cultural activities linked to its philosophy. In particular, it worked to publicise an environmental conscience based on scientific knowledge that made it possible to concretely improve the environment by means of positive actions and avoiding unconstructive and argumentative criticism. 1998 / BIOFOREST: THE FIRST ENVIRONMENTAL-PROTECTION ASSOCIATION FOR MANUFACTURERS Bioforest the no-profit Onlus Association created by Valcucine 2001 / ISO 14001 Valcucine the first Italian kitchen company acquired the ISO 14001 certification 2002 / AERIUS: FIRST 100% ALUMINUM AND GLASS WALL UNIT The wall unit concept was revolutionised by means of an aluminium and glass structure, a door in honeycombed aluminium and LED lighting (“Aerius” wall unit). 2006 / ALESSI AND VALCUCINE PRESENT LACUCINAALESSI “LaCucinaAlessi” kitchen was presented during the Eurocucina ’06 exhibition, in an exclusive space outside the exhibition centre. This is a kitchen programme developed by permission and together with Alessi and designed by the architect Alessandro Mendini. 2007 / RICICLANTICA KITCHEN Riciclantica kitchen model perfected the Ricicla product by updating its aesthetics and improving the disassembly of the doorframe, making it of a single material. 2008 / ARTEMATICA KITCHEN AT THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART OF NEW YORK During 2008 Valcucine’s Artematica Vitrum glass kitchen has been displayed at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), in Cellophane House, one of five on-site installations in the exhibition: Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling 2009 / INVITRUM: THE FIRST 100% RECYCLABLE BASE UNIT IN GLASS AND ALLUMINUM Lengthy research into materials and into their limits of resistance have allowed Valcucine to revolutionise the furniture industry, making the first 100% recyclable base unit in glass of which some parts are in recycled aluminium. 2010 / VALCUCINE LIVING, ALL THINGS CHANGE. Valcucine declares its way of conceiving, interpreting and furnishing spaces by widening its horizons beyond the kitchen. An evolved environment made of varying geometric shapes directed towards newer and greater possibilities of use. 2011 / VALCUCINE LAUNDRY 2011 | REVOLUTIONARY ERGONOMICS OF NEW LOGICA SYSTEM After having revolutionised ergonomics by presenting the Logica System in 1996 with its 80 cm depth and equipped back section, removable jumbo drawers and wall units with Ala and Aerius lift-up doors, Valcucine in 2011 presented the new equipped back section. New Logica System: everything on hand, everything tidy in an instant. 2012 | SINETEMPORE SineTempore, a kitchen conceived to express the values of tradition through the recovery of various ancient handicraft techniques, stems precisely from this emerging vision: pyrography, inlays, carvings and mosaics decorate the wooden surfaces, while bushhammering is used for the surfaces of the worktop back panels.

| SUSTAINABLE DRIVEN INNOVATION

In Valcucine, it all started with the desire to produce in an eco-compatible way. The ethics of responsibility towards the environment have always guided our choices as a company and, more importantly, as the people who belong to it. Because beyond being a community heritage, the environment concerns each single person, it belongs to each one of us as an individual. It took time for the first results to become visible, for all the people in the company to comprehend and share this culture and these goals. To communicate this awareness to them, in all the work phases, every day. Recycling This is how we have designed and imagined new technical solutions and new uses for 100% recyclable materials. Nevertheless, recycling as a solution has its limits: costs for the environment, low efficiency and low quality. Reduction Consequently, we also worked hard on dematerialisation. An “intelligent” reduction in the use of materials to decrease the exploitation of resources from the outset..... The first 5 and 2-mm thick super-slim doors, lightweight but perfectly efficient and sturdy, were devised by us, as were lots of other technological solutions and international patents. Collecting and reutilising Now, at long last, after years of work we can guarantee the collection and disposal of the components of some of our lines of kitchens at the end of their life cycle. This means that our vision and our commitment go beyond the legitimate satisfaction of our customers, and beyond the efficiency and the life-span of our products. It means looking out for the quality of life of people, that cannot improve if we just carry on producing without worrying about the quantity of goods that we are building up in the environment. Endless guarantee Therefore, beyond recycling, beyond the reduction of the materials employed, we now also take upon ourselves the responsibility of disposing of our furniture components, designed to be easy to dismantle and recondition, so that they can be used to make other products in the future. | CONTROLLING GAS EMISSION The air we breathe in our kitchen can become polluted by the toxic emissions from the stains and glues used to make furniture. At Valcucine, we do sample testing to make sure that our kitchen cabinet components do not release volatile substances into the air that can damage your health. We also check to be sure that our products are not contaminated with artificial radioactivity, respecting most restrictive standards of formaldehyde emissions. Chipboard panels contain ureic glue, a substance that emits formaldehyde continuously for years. Even though it is now known to be carcinogenic. Regardless of the fact that Italy and many other countries set no standards for levels of formaldehyde emissions, Valcucine builds there products to meet stringent Japanese standards for emissions called F(4 stars). One of the most serious pollution problems in cabinet making is the evaporation of the synthetic paint solvents. A medium-sized furniture maker releases tons of solvents into the air every day, polluting the area around it. Micro-evaporation of these solvents continues afterwards for even longer periods, polluting the area where the piece of furniture is located. To the full advantage of the end user, of operators in the furniture sector and of the villages that surround the factories, Valcucine, after years of tests and of continuous research, has adopted, for solid wood and for veneered doors and panels, a cycle of water-based varnish that drastically reduces toxic emissions. Our innovative capacity continues to pave the way for improvement in the industry. We have been pleased to see some of our competitors adopt similar practices. As the saying goes, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. At Valcucine we are eager to see all industry work for an improvement in our environment and health. Nuclear disasters like Chernobyl create artificial radioactivity that is absorbed by plants (and therefore wood) and then released into the atmosphere even after long periods of time. Since the quantity of toxic presence varies according to the lumber’s place of origin, Valcucine does sample testing to make sure that the wood it uses does not come from areas severely polluted by radioactivity.

| VALCUCINE’S CERTIFICATIONS

In 2009, Valcucine obtained the pure FSC certification on maples board purchase. FSC is a certification plan that gives the consumer the guarantee that the product has been made from materials coming from forests that are correctly managed from an environmental, social and economical point of view. Valcucine has been a supporter of sustainable development for many years and is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its manufacturing plant. We develop projects for rational use of raw materials, recycling of waste materials and reduction of pollution, consumption and water and promote a balance between use and replacing of natural resources. Our dedication to eco-friendly production made us Italy’s first kitchen cabinet maker to obtain UNI EN ISO 14001 certification. ISO 14001 is an International standard that certifies that a product is manufactured observing the environmental management system established by the company. The certificate is granted when the respect of laws and by-laws in force and the commitment to define policies, programmes and targets aimed at improving its organisation and performances in the field of environmental protection have been verified. In its efforts to pursue and apply an environmental management system complying with the ISO 14001 standard, Valcucine has achieved numerous benefits: assurance of compliance to the environmental laws in force, improvement of efficiency in the use of resources, improvement of profitability upon modification of laws or environmental conditions, the improvement of its overall company image both during business transactions and towards the end user who is increasingly aware of environmental topics. | MAIN PRODUCTS | Artematica

High technology, formal simplicity, pure and essential lines are the main features of Artematica kitchen. The high quality level derives from the technical innovation used to create the first single-block door in dematerialised layered laminate. It is made from an aluminium structural frame to which various types of panels in different materials are applied: HPL layered in many different colours, wood-laminate layered laminate, lacquered MDF, glass. This system makes the door very resistant to humidity, heat and impacts, reduces its weight so that the hinges last longer, makes it easier to shut, easier to recycle and has a smaller impact on the environment (less materials and energy consumption). The great versatility of the new Artematica models makes it possible to create a personalised kitchen that can satisfy any aesthetic taste, reflecting different life-styles and personalities. | Riciclantica

The Riciclantica kitchen door is the utmost expression of a design based on dematerialisation and is made of an extremely resistant structural aluminium frame together with a sophisticated decor panel that is only 2mm thick. The use of special materials such as carbon, aluminium, steel or layered laminate, the very accurate planning of construction details - for example, the inside of the new frame appears aesthetically pure because of the total

absence of screws and hole caps - and the absolute resistance of all door versions to water, steam and heat, contribute to making the Riciclantica door unique in the furniture sector. Riciclantica is a kitchen designed to have a low impact on the environment and represents the most advanced technology to express the shape of lightness. Thanks to research into and application of special innovative technologies, this door respects the four basic principles of environmental-friendliness: minimum consumption of raw materials and energy, durability, recyclability and non-toxic finishes. | SineTempore

The new alliance between industry and handicrafts has resulted in the Valcucine designer, Gabriele Centazzo, enlivening the reintroduction of SINETEMPORE, the new traditional-style kitchen, with decors of bygone days. SineTempore, a kitchen conceived to express the values of tradition through the recovery of various ancient handicraft techniques, stems precisely from this emerging vision: pyrography, inlays, carvings and mosaics decorate the wooden surfaces, while bushhammering is used for the surfaces of the worktop back panels. An important element for the sustainability of an object is its duration. The more durable an object is, the more sustainable it can be considered to be. Handicraft work is functional to aesthetic durability because customisation and manual work create a bond towards the object that make its beauty appreciated for longer. This results in a longer usable life of the object, i.e. a longer lifecycle, reducing its impact on the environment and increasing its environmental friendliness. | New Logica System

Page 9: Valcucine Company Profile - Architonic...HEADQUARTER Via Savio, 11 33170 Pordenone ITALY Tel. +39 0434 517911 info@valcucine.it FOUNDED IN 1980 SHAREHOLDERS 4 partners TOTAL AREA 33,000

Valcucine has always focused on satisfying customers' requirements and has painstakingly researched into the use of traditional kitchens to this aim. The result has been the perfection of a few aspects thatimprove the interaction of Man with the whole kitchen "system". After having revolutionised ergonomics by presenting the Logica System in 1996 with its 80 cm depth and equipped back section, removable jumbo drawers and wall units with Ala and Aerius lift-up doors, Valcucine is now presenting the new equipped back section. The back section is capable of containing and concealing, when necessary, all the kitchen equipment: the dish-drainer, weighing scales, small appliances, removable cooking receptacles, bottle-racks, power sockets, a monitor, a kitchen roll holder, the tap, hooks for utensils and even a cooker hood. | Invitrum base unit system

Lengthy research into materials and their limits of resistance have allowed Valcucine to revolutionise the furniture industry by producing the first base unit in 100% recyclable glass. Part of the base unit is made from recycled aluminium. The production process for recycled aluminium has the advantage of consuming just 5% of the energy needed to obtain primary aluminium. Normally, traditional kitchens install base units side-by-side, resulting in double side panels in chipboard that can reach a thickness of 36mm; instead, Valcucine has developed the kitchen carcass horizontally using a single glass carcass side that is only 10mm thick. For as much as regards disposal, Valcucine is well aware that the impact on the environment of an existing product is a potential resource. The entire new glass base units' system is easy to dismantle because it is connected using mechanical joints only, without glues. The separation of the materials of the base unit is made easier thanks to the use of single materials or of others easy to disassemble. Valcucine has reinvented the kitchen, planning it so that it can be dismantled at the end of its life cycle.

| VALCUCINE CUSTOM MADE AND CONTRACTS

Italian savoir faire is recovering its central and important position all over the world; Valcucine is summoned to the challenge of internationalisation and to measure up to international markets, even in the field of contract projects. Thanks to our design industrialisation abilities, to the technology of our products and to our company’s flexibility, for this specific set of kitchens we have been able to give a quality response to Wiel Arets, once again collaborating with Alessi and the brand LaCucinaAlessi .

Valcucine, with the widest product range and greatest modularity on the market, is able to meet the various requests and manage large supplies while maintaining high product quality and safety standards, also thanks to the German GS certification.

The development of a contract project can even meet custom requests with extreme production flexibility, where the use of special finishes and the development of specific products make it possible to satisfy the most varied aesthetic and functional market requirements.

Moreover, production is guaranteed by responsible management policies thanks to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification that Valcucine was the first company to obtain in 2001, and to the OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment certification

| VALCUCINE GUARANTEES

Life-long guarantee We can no longer continue to produce today without worrying about the goods that we will accumulate in the environment tomorrow. Goods that will become rubbish at the end of their life cycle. Today, Valcucine is the first and only company in the sector that, on its glass and aluminium or iron furniture systems by demode engineered by Valcucine, makes a commitment to its users and to the public to collect its products and to guarantee their disposal at the end of their life cycle. These products can be 100% recycled and/or 90% reconditioned to drastically reduce the consumption of other raw materials and the production of other waste. This Guarantee of Responsibility confirms Valcucine’s commitment and responsibility: a choice that always has a happy ending. Thanks to the Guarantee of Responsibility, the future of the environment, and of us all, is guaranteed forever. 20 Years | Future programme guarantee 20 years’ time for modifications and additionsAs time goes by, things change in people’s lives. They move, they change their belongings, they start a family. In this context, it’s important to feel free to add to and/or modify part of the kitchen furniture. Beyond the fashions and rules of consumption that “impose” changes in aesthetics, finishes and colours, the Future Programme Guarantee protects the rights of Valcucine’s customers for 20 years by guaranteeing the availability of the elements required to modify and complete the furniture in the same aesthetics, shape, finish and colour of the original carcasses and fronts. . This is because Valcucine, contrarily to what is more and more common nowadays, plans the future of its products by extending their durability. The current trend towards consumerism exploits objects and then very quickly discards them. From

Valcucine’s point of view this is wrong because it is detrimental to the planet and doesn’t keep in mind the ecological principles of responsibility towards the future generations. The Future Programme Guarantee is supplied free of charge to all those who fill in the marketing form. 15 Years | Guarantee on glass parts Glass: a material that is as ancient as it is modern in its beauty, recyclability and versatility of use in everyday life. Glass, just like all very beautiful things, is sometimes connected to the idea of fragility. Actually, glass has always been normally used in the building sector to construct and clad homes and the like and it is used to an even greater extent nowadays. Valcucine has been using this material since 1983 when it became the first company ever to offer a kitchen with glass doors. This long-lived experience has made it possible to understand the qualities of glass and how it must be processed to increase its resistance. All this has allowed Valcucine to produce a complete product line in which glass is also used to make the actual furniture and not just the doors and shelves. It is thanks to the results of years of research and tests that Valcucine is so sure of the resistance of all its glass components that it has extended the 2-year guarantee prescribed by the European Directive n. 99/44/CE to 15 years. 10 Years | Product guarantee those who choose Valcucine are aware of the importance of innovation and design, but also and above all, of the quality of the company’s materials, components and processes. These qualities must remain constant, throughout time, day after day. Valcucine is certain of the quality of all its product lines. This is why it extends its Product Guarantee services to 10 years. To keep the value of Valcucine’s quality guaranteed for longer.
