Review of literature
Review of literature:
Literature review for understanding the study was done by referring to various National and International Journals, Databases, such as International Pharmaceutical Abstracts, and various other web resources.
Bashardoust N et.al.,(2011);Preparation and In vitro Investigation of Chitosan Compressed Tablets for Colon Targeting. The aim of the present study was minimizing the drug release in upper gastro intestinal tract and targeting to colon by using the principles of compression coat

Review of literature
Chithaluru K. et.al.,(2011); Formulation and Evaluation of Microbially triggered compression coated tablets of Ketorolac Tromethiamine, Present study was designed to minimize the drug release in upper gastro intestinal tract and target to colon by using the principles of compression coat. Optimized F9 formulation was a promising system targeting to colon for treatment of various colonic diseases like Inflammatory Bowel disease (IBD).
Patel M. P. et.al.,(2010); Chitosan Mediated Targeted Drug Delivery System: A Review-Chitosan has prompted the continuous movement for the development of safe and effective drug delivery systems because of its unique physicochemical and biological characteristics. In vitro drug-release experiments carried out under conditions similar to colon exhibited controlled release behaviour of the drug.

Review of literature
Sonia T.A. et.al.,(2011); Chitosan and Its Derivatives for Drug Delivery Perspective Chitosan is a biodegradable, biocompatible, positively charged nontoxic mucoadhesive biopolymer. These unique features of chitosan have stimulated development of delivery systems for a wide range of biological agents.

Aim and Objectives
Aim of Research work:-To develop effective colon specific drug delivery system by using modified chitosan.
Objectives: –
-Development of colon specific drug delivery.
-Characterization of Modified Chitosan.
-Modification of chitosan by cross linking with cross linkers.
-Evaluation of Modified chitosan.
-Preparation of Dosage Form by using Modified Chitosan.
-Evaluation of formed Formulations for colon Specific.
-Stability of Modified Chitosan.

Need for the Study
Colon is having crohn’s disease & ulcerative colitis
causing huge inflammation to treat this inflammation by
targeting drug delivery to colon.
colon inflammation is difficult to treat by conventional
approach because of premature drug release in stomach
& small intestine to prevent this drug release and to
localized drug delivery to colon.
