Vacancy Announcement
The Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration is a State Corporation established under
the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration Act No. 26 of 2013 with the primary
mandate to promote the practice of international commercial arbitration in Kenya and
other forms of alternative dispute resolution in the domestic arena. The Centre offers
dispute administration services and facilities for the conduct of arbitration, mediation
and other alternative dispute resolution mechanism.
The Centre is looking for suitable persons to join its secretariat team in the posts below.

1. MANAGER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (JOB GRADE - NCIA 2) 1 post
An officer at this level will be the head of Business Development Department reporting
to the Registrar.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the head of Business Development department the Manager will be responsible for;
formulating and implementing policies and strategies for the department; overseeing
development of the corporate, marketing and capacity building strategies and action
plans; corporate image building and branding of the Centre its products and services;
mobilizing resources to fund projects and programmes; coordinating strategic funding
partnerships; facilitating and monitoring the implementation of projects and
programmes; developing and implementing an advocacy strategy to support
actualization of the Centre’s strategic plan; establishing strong partnerships with
governmental and non-governmental agencies within and outside the country;

establishing strong communication channels with agencies and stakeholders; and
ensuring that appropriate customer complaints and feedback mechanisms are in place
in the Centre; monitoring, evaluating and reviewing work plans for the Business
Development department.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
i. Served in the grade of Principal Officer, in a Business Development Department
for a period of three (3) years
Or,
Relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years with a minimum of five (5)
years in a senior management position in a public or private organization;
ii. Bachelor’s degree in either Marketing, Communications, Finance or Business
administration from a recognized university;
iii. A post-graduate degree in a relevant field;
iv. Attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than
six (6) weeks in a recognized institution or its equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
v. Have met all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya;
and
vi. Be a member of a recognized professional body in good standing.
2. MANAGER - CORPORATE SUPPORT SERVICES (JOB GRADE - NCIA 2) 1 post
An officer at this level will be the head of Corporate Support Services Department
reporting to the Registrar.
Duties and Responsibilities
As the head of Corporate Support Services Department the Manager will be responsible
for; formulating and implementing policies and strategies for the department;
coordinating budget formulation; providing strategic leadership on all matters of
prudent financial management, policies and strategies on legal and advisory services for
the Centre, development of appropriate Human Resource policies, aligning supply chain

objective with overall institutional objective, overseeing implementation of the ICT
strategies and policies; ensuring accountability and prudent management of resources
and assets and ensuring compliance with principles and values of good governance
transparency, accountability, ethics and integrity; organizing and coordinating
transport and logistical services, office services, security, accommodation, asset
management, general office administration records and registry services; coordinating
implementation of the strategic plan, performance contract, quality management system
and performance appraisal systems; monitoring, evaluating and reviewing work plans
for the Corporate Support Services Department.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade an officer must have: -
i. Served in the grade of Principal Officer, in the Corporate Support Services

3. PRINCIPAL HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER, (JOB
GRADE - NCIA 3) 1 post

As head of the Human Resource and Administration unit the Principal Human Resource
and Administration officer will be responsible for: developing, implementing and
reviewing of appropriate human resource policies, rules and regulations; providing
effective organization and administration of the Human Resource Management and
Administration services including appropriate human resource management policies,
rules and regulations in Centre for effective performance and productivity; participating
in recruitment, placement, training and development of staff; coordinating the
implementation of Performance Appraisal Systems; carrying out training needs
assessment; undertaking human resource planning, communication, discipline,
employee relations, remuneration and staff welfare; ensuring effective management of
the payroll; undertake appropriate staff deployment; managing human resource and
general information management systems; ensuring proper accommodation of staff
within the Centre; preparing budget for personnel emoluments and administrative
services; controlling and monitoring location and movement of equipment; offering
counseling services to staff; coordinating security operations within Centre premises;
overseeing daily and weekly cleaning of offices and compounds; overseeing maintenance
and provision of transport; and providing cross-functional administrative services.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Senior Human Resource and Administration Officer for
a minimum period of three (3) years;
Or,
Have relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years with a minimum of
five (5) years in a senior management position in public or private organization;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Human Resource
Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or its
equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iii) A post-graduate degree in a relevant field.
(iv) Attended a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less
than six (6) weeks in a recognized institution or its equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution;

4. PRINCIPAL CAPACITY BUILDING OFFICER, (JOB GRADE - NCIA 3) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Manager Business Development Department.
Duties and Responsibilities.
As head of the Capacity Building Unit the Principal Capacity Building Officer will be
responsible for:- formulation and implementation of policies and strategies for the Unit;
overseeing the nationwide training needs assessment in Alternative Dispute Resolution;
providing technical oversight, strategic direction and ensure appropriate support for the
planning and implementation of program capacity building activities in Alternative
Dispute Resolution; developing Alternative Dispute Resolution training strategies;
developing training criteria, qualifications, schedules and certification of courses;
development and execution of the public awareness campaigns on Alternative Dispute
Resolution policies and plans; supervision, guidance and development of staff working
in the Unit; conducting baseline surveys and customer satisfaction surveys; and
ensuring continuous monitoring and evaluation of the Unit’s work-plans and initiate
appropriate action.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
i. Served in the grade of Senior Capacity Building Officer for a minimum period
of three (3) years,

Have relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years with a minimum
of five (5) years in a senior management position in a public or private
organization;
ii. Bachelor’s Degree in either law, arbitration, economics, communication

5. PRINCIPAL COMMUNICATION & MARKETING OFFICER, (JOB GRADE- NCIA
3) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Manager Business Development Department.
Duties and Responsibilities.
As head of the Communication & Marketing Unit the Principal Communication &
Marketing Officer will be responsible for; formulation and implementation of policies
and strategies for the Unit; development of a corporate communication strategy;
coordination of the design, edition, publication and dissemination of newsletters,
booklets, articles and other information produced by the Centre; development of
marketing strategies for the promotion of the products and services offered by the
Centre; development and maintenance of the corporate branding needs for the Centre;
organizing and managing the Centre’s events; organizing stakeholders and public
events, exhibitions and trade fairs; preparing media briefs; attending to public enquiries
and complaints; collecting information and data for the preparation of the Centre’s
newsletter and supplements; collecting data for research on media communications;
carrying out general protocol matters in the Centre; compiling media communication
reports; and arranging for media coverage of Centre’s events; receipt, collation and
compilation of client complaints, complements and other feedback data for necessary
action by the Centre; maintaining the Centre’s client database; conducting baseline
surveys and client satisfaction surveys; supervision, guidance and development of staff
working in the Unit; ensuring continuous monitoring and evaluation of the Unit’s work-
plans and initiate appropriate action.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

6. SENIOR FINANCE/ACCOUNTS OFFICER (JOB GRADE - NCIA 4) 2 posts
An officer in this position reports to the Principal Finance/Accounts officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
A Senior Finance/Accounts Officer will be responsible for:- monitoring expenditure;
preparing monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts; preparing budgets for
the Centre; preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts,
budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries; expenditure forecasts and
prioritization of projects and activities for the purpose of financial allocations in the
budget; preparing special reports by studying variances; developing forecasts; providing
a support service by working with all departments and the management team to help
make financial decisions; ensuring spending is kept in line with the budget; informing
key strategic decisions and formulating business strategies; advising on the financial
implications and consequences of business decisions; analysing financial performance
and so contributing to medium and long-term business planning/forecasts; offering
professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business
performance; interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial officers;

liaising with other functions to put the finances and accounts in context; monitoring
and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where
needed. verification of vouchers and committal documents in accordance with the laid
down rules and regulations; oversee maintenance of primary records such as cash
books, ledgers, vote books, registers and preparation of simple management reports
including imprest and expenditure returns; ensuring safe custody of Centre’s records
and assets; Authorize payment of personal and merchant claims as guided by cash
balances in the cash books; Preparation of final accounts; overseeing preparation of
budgets; responsible for accurate and timely preparation of management reports on
income and expenditure of the Centre.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Accounts/ Finance Officer in a relevant and comparable
position for a minimum period of three (3) years

Have relevant working experience of at least five (5) years with a minimum of
three (3) years in a senior management position in public or private organization;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce
(Accounting/Finance), Business Administration or its equivalent qualification
from a recognized institution;
(iii) Attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks in a
recognized institution or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
(iv) Have met all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya;
and

7. SENIOR INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (JOB GRADE -
NCIA 4) 1 post
An officer in this position reports to the Principal Information Communication
Technology officer.

Duties and Responsibilities
A senior ICT Officer will be responsible for;- systems development, implementation and
allocation; co-coordinating systems development, implementation and maintenance;
carrying out feasibility studies; preparing progress report of the systems development;
evaluating systems and ensuring adherence to established ICT Standards; training and
preparing staff performance reports; planning, monitoring and evaluating
program/activities within an Information Communication Technology division/unit;
liaising with user departments to ensure effective maintenance of Information
Communication Technology equipment; and evaluating hardware maintenance
feasibility studies and detailed specifications before implementation.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade an officer must have;
i) Served in the grade of Senior ICT Officer for a minimum period of three (3)
years;
Or,
Have relevant working experience of at least seven (7) years with a minimum of
five (5) years in a senior management position in public or private organization;
ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Information Technology
(IT), Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or any other ICT
related discipline with a bias in Information Communication Technology from
a recognized Institution;
iii) Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
from a recognized institution;
iv) Certification from relevant recognized professional bodies; and
v) Have met all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya;
and
vi) Be a member of a recognized professional body in good standing.
8. SENIOR SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT OFFICER (JOB GRADE NCIA 4) 1

An officer at this level will report to the Principal Supply Chain Management Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
A Senior Supply Chain Management Officer will be responsible for:- assisting in
management of activities in Procurement Unit; initiating and formulating procurement
policies for issue to the departments/Units in liaison with the head of Unit; assisting in
the preparation of the section’s strategic plans; responsible for planning, organizing,
administration and control of supply chain management section; analyzing the impact
of supply chain management policies; ensuring correct interpretation and
implementation of Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005 and other statutes,
policies, rules and regulations that may impact on the supply chain management other
duties include; preparing contract documents in line with award decisions; coordinating
evaluation of tenders, quotations and proposals; preparing stores requisitions; updating
the stores stocks cards; checking the stationery issues against requisition made;
preparing stores requisitions for the items which have reached their minimum stock
levels; distribution of quotations requests; distributing stores to other offices; preparing
payment vouchers for suppliers; and ensuring goods delivered by suppliers are of the
right/required quality and quantity; disposal of unserviceable stores, conducting
periodic and annual stock taking.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) served in the grade of Supply Chain Officer for a minimum period of three (3)
years;
Or,
Have relevant working experience of at least five (5) years with a minimum of
three (3) years in a senior management position in public or private
organization;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Business
Administration, (Supplies Management Option) or equivalent qualifications
from a recognized institution;
(iii) Attended a Senior Management Course in a recognized institution lasting

9. SENIOR INTERNAL AUDITOR, (JOB GRADE - NCIA 4) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Principal Internal Auditor.
Duties and Responsibilities
A Senior Internal Auditor will responsible for; planning and coordinating internal audit
activities; executing audit programmes, collecting audit evidence, review internal
control operations, verifying the existence and safety of Centre assets, preparing draft
reports, reviewing budgetary controls and the issuance of AIE and commitments,
validating of records and reports, carrying out audit checks; verifying payments to
ensure validity and accuracy; ensuring adherence of accounting procedures;
implementing regulations pertaining to financial control and management; carrying out
risk assessment and developing management guidelines; undertaking audit
investigations; identifying any accounting errors, cases of fraud and initiating
investigations; and preparing audit reports and making appropriate recommendations;
preparing and implementing annual audit plans and Committee reports; developing and
reviewing audit management systems; undertaking audit investigations; and following
up on implementation of recommendations.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Assistant Internal Auditor for a minimum period of
three (3) years,

(ii) Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance), or its equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution;

(iv) Attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
in a recognized institution or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
(v) Have met all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of

10. SENIOR CASE COUNSEL - CASE ADMINISTRATION (JOB GRADE -
NCIA 4) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Principal Case Counsel – Case Administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A Senior Case Counsel will be responsible for: ensuring receipt and acknowledgment of
dispute notices, requests, responses, statements and all other procedural filings;
assessment of fees payable and ensuring payment thereof; assigning case/dispute
reference numbers to registered requests; custody and safe keeping of the registry
stamps or other impression used to evidence receipt at the registry of the Centre; proof-
read orders, directions and decisions of a tribunal, the Court and Registrar for
compliance with the actual order, direction and decision before dissemination to all
relevant parties; ensuring compliance with and enforcement orders, directions and
decisions of a tribunal, the Court and Registrar; ensuring certification of orders,
directions and decisions of a tribunal, the Court and Registrar; collect, compile and
analyse data of cases; prepare periodic returns and case reports; and other duties as
may be assigned to the officer.

Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of case Counsel – Case Administration for a period of
three (3) years
Or,
Relevant working experience of at least three (3) years in a comparable
position in a public or private organization
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in either law, arbitration or a related field from a
recognized university;
(iii) Attended a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
in a recognized institution or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
institution;
(iv) Have met all the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of
Kenya;
(v) Be a member of a recognized professional body in good standing.
11. SENIOR COMMUNICATION & MARKETING OFFICER (JOB GRADE -
NCIA 4) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Principal Communication & Marketing Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities.
A Senior Communication & Marketing Officer will be responsible for; negotiation of
concessionary agreements and memoranda of understanding with service providers of
Alternative Dispute Resolution facilities, venues and related services; liaison for
hospitality services, venues and facilities for service users; organizing and managing the
Centre’s events; organizing stakeholders and public events, exhibitions and trade fairs;
preparing media briefs; attending to public enquiries and complaints; collecting
information and data for the preparation of the Centre’s newsletter and supplements;
collecting data for research on media communications; carrying out general protocol
matters in the Centre; compiling media communication reports; and arranging for media
coverage of Centre’s events; compilation and dissemination of data and advisories on
protocol, immigration, taxation and all other regulatory requirements to disputants,
arbiters, counsel and other service users; receipt, collation and compilation of client

conducting baseline surveys and customer satisfaction surveys.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
i. Served in the grade of Communication and Marketing Officer for a minimum

12. SENIOR CORPORATE STRATEGY OFFICER (JOB GRADE - NCIA 4) 1
post
An officer at this level will report to the Principal Corporate Strategy Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
A Senior Corporate Strategy Officer will be responsible for: ensuring proper
administration and application of corporate strategy services in the Centre, organizing,
arranging, and conducting research, analysis and implementation of the corporate
strategies and action plans; collation and comparison of emerging trends in Alternative
Dispute Resolution; design and innovation of new business approaches, concept papers
and project proposals; drafting of relevant guidelines, memoranda of understanding and

collaborative agreements for the Centre’s external stakeholders; and supervision,
guidance and development of staff under the officer.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Corporate Officer for a period of three (3) years,

Have relevant working experience of at least five (5) years with a minimum of
three (3) years in a senior management position in a public or private
organization;
(ii) Bachelor’s degree in either law, arbitration, economics, communication
studies, Business Administration, Public Relations or a related field from a

13. CASE COUNSEL – CASE ADMINISTRATION UNIT (JOB GRADE - NCIA
5) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Senior Case Counsel – Case Administration
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will perform
duties under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer. These includes receipt
and acknowledgment of dispute notices, requests, responses, statements and all other

14. CAPACITY BUILDING OFFICER (JOB GRADE - NCIA 5) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Senior Capacity Building Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities.
This is entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under
the guidance of a senior officer. The duties and responsibilities will entail organizing for
and assisting in training needs assessment in Alternative Dispute Resolution,
researching and assisting in development of Alternative Dispute Resolution training
strategies; designing and developing training criteria, qualifications, schedules and
certification of courses; organizing for and assisting in development and execution of
the public awareness campaigns on Alternative Dispute Resolution policies and plans.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
(i) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Law, Economics,
Arbitration, Communication Studies, Public Relations, Education or any relevant
and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
(ii) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

15. HUMAN RESOURCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER, (JOB GRADE -
NCIA 5) 1 post
An officer at this level will report to the Senior Human Resource and Administration
Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. The duties and responsibilities at this
level will entail: verifying information relating to recruitment, appointments, human
resource management records and complement control; training and development;
processing of statutory deductions; payroll management and maintaining HRIS;
processing agenda for the Human Resource Advisory Committee and implementation of
decisions; keeping/maintaining records of all the Centre’s equipment; and ensuring
cleanliness of offices of the Centre.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Human Resource Management for a minimum
period of three (3) years;

16. FINANCE/ACCOUNTS OFFICER (JOB GRADE - NCIA 5) 2 posts
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Senior Finance/Accounts Officer
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under
the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -
compiling of information on commitment and expenditure rends and initiating
appropriate corrective action as may be required; compiling of information required on
budget monitoring and expenditure control, including expenditures on salaries and

allowances; processing of reallocations within the budget. Preparation of vouchers and
committal documents in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations; data
capture; maintenance of primary records such as cash books, ledgers, vote books,
registers and preparation of simple management reports including imprest and
expenditure returns; Ensuring safe custody of Centre’s records and assets; Payment of
personal and merchant claims as guided by cash balances in the cash books.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Relevant working experience of at least three (3) years in a comparable
position in a public or private organization, and
(ii) Part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or its equivalent
qualifications;
(iii) Certificate in computer applications from recognized applications.
Or,
(iv) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce
(Accounting/Finance), Business Administration or its equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution.
17. SUPPLY CHAIN OFFICER (JOB GRADE - NCIA 5) 1 post
An officer at this level will be responsible to the Senior Supply Chain Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. The Officer will work under the
supervision of a Senior Officer. The duties and responsibilities will entail: - procuring of
stores through tender committees; implementing Government procurement policies,
managing and distributing of supplies to user departments/units; applying
procurement systems and procedures; disposing of unserviceable/obsolete and or other
stores on the recommendation of the disposal Committee and or a Board of survey;
preparing estimates of expenditure on supplies and services; procurement planning,
inventory control and provisioning for the Centre; collecting, collating and analyzing
supply chain data for the Centre and make appropriate recommendations thereof;
analyzing Supply Chain Management emanating from the Centre and initiate

appropriate action; implementation of existing Supply Chain Management policies,
guidelines and procedures; and coordinating the activities of the Board of Survey on
disposing items.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Supply Chain Management Officer or in a relevant and
comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
(ii) Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing or equivalent
qualifications from CIPS or a recognized institution.
Or
(iii) Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Business
Administration, (Supplies Management Option) or equivalent qualifications
from a recognized institution.
18. EXECUTIVE SECRETARY (JOB GRADE - NCIA 5) 1 post
An Executive Secretary will be attached to the office of the Registrar. The Officer will be
responsible to the Registrar.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities will include: - general administration of the office;
updating the Registrar’s diary to be informed of visitors/tasks ahead; making local and
international travel and hotel arrangements/bookings for the Registrar and the official
visitors to the institution; drafting letters, managing office protocol and media relations;
supervision; and training and offering of professional advice to other secretarial staff.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Senior Office Administrator or any relevant and comparable
position in the public service or any other reputable organisation for a minimum
period of three (3) years;
(ii) Diploma/Higher Diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Kenya National
Examinations Council or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution

19. SENIOR OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR, (JOB GRADE - NCIA 6) 1 post
A Senior Office Administrator will be responsible to the Officer to whom he/she is
assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities at this level will entail:- recording dictation in shorthand and
transcribing it in typewritten form; typing from drafts, manuscripts or recording from
dictation machines; processing data; operating office equipment; attending to
visitors/clients; handling telephone calls in that office and appointments; ensuring
security of office records; documents and equipment including classified materials;
preparing responses to routine correspondence; and guiding and supervising secretarial
personnel under him/her.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
(i) Served in the grade of Office Administrator for a minimum period of three
(3) years; and
(ii) Diploma/Higher Diploma in Secretarial Studies from the Kenya National
Examinations Council or equivalent qualifications from a recognized
Institution;
Or,
The following qualifications from the Kenya National Examination Council;
Shorthand III (100 w.p.m.);

20. SENIOR DRIVER (JOB GRADE - NCIA 7) 1 post
An officer at this level will be responsible administratively to the head Human Resource
and Administration Unit and functionally to the officer authorising or accountable for a
specific journey.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities will involve driving the assigned vehicle:- carrying out
routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, tyre pressure and brake systems,
etc.; detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems; maintenance of work
ticket for vehicle(s) assigned; ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the
road; overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; maintaining cleanliness
of the vehicle(s); and supervising and guide staff in a small transport unit.
Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
(i) Served in the grade of Driver I for a minimum period of three (3) years.
(ii) Passed Occupational Test 1 for Drivers;
(iii) Valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(s)
of vehicle(s) the officer is required to driver;

(iv) Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya
or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
(v) Attended a Refresher Course for drivers not lasting less than one (1) week
within every three (3) years at Kenya Institute of Highway and Building

(vi) Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service;
(vii) Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting less than one (1) week from
