VISUAL ARTS CENTER OF RICHMONDThe Visual Arts Center of Richmond has been helping Richmond make art since 1963. The community arts center is located in the heart of the city’s historic Fan District and boasts 15 studios, the True F. Luck Gallery and several community spaces. Each year, VisArts offers more than 600 visual and creative arts classes and touches the lives of more than 32,000 people through its classes, community outreach pro-grams, camps, workshops and special events.

VISUAL ARTS CREATIVE AMBASSADORSThe Visual Arts Creative Ambassadors (VACA) is the Visual Arts Center of Richmond’s young professionals group. When individuals under age 30 become mem-bers of VisArts, they have the option of joining at the VACA membership level. VACA members are invited to special events and programs.

VACA is governed by its own board. Its board members represent both Richmond’s business and artistic communities and are devoted to acting as VisArts’ creative ambassadors.

YOUNG + ARTFULIn 2015, the Visual Arts Creative Ambassadors (VACA) launched a new fundraiser for VisArts. Young + Artful, which is part silent auction and part dance party, is geared at young professionals and the young-at-heart and raises money for the Visual Arts Center’s tuition assistance program. In 2016, Young + Artful brought more than 350 people through VisArts’ front doors. Tickets to Young + Artful are reasonably priced, and the art in the auction is intended to be affordable for those who are just beginning to collect. Save the date for this year’s event. Young + Artful will take place Saturday, January 28, 2017.

ART FOR EVERYONEAt VisArts, it’s part of our mission to ensure people of all backgrounds, ages and skill levels can explore the visual arts and live creative lives. While we do our best to keep our classes affordable and priced competitively, we under-stand that they are still out of reach for some adults in our community.

To ensure that our art classes really are for everyone, we created the Tuition Assistance Fund. Adults apply to take a class, and we scale the cost of the class based on their income level and household size.

The proceeds from Young + Artful support VisArts’ Tuition Assistance Fund.
