Mark Randall and Andrea Pellegrino are the original founding partners of Worldstudio, though currently andrea is workinown projects. Debbie Millman, former president of AIGA, has referred to them as the “brad and angelina” of the design wbecause of their dedication to social activisim.I think what makes them unique is their implemention of grassroots programs.

They worked with adobe to create A mentoring initiative in which mentor/mentee teams used InDesign to create posters theme of tolerance; posters were then published in Worldstudio Foundation’s annual magazine Sphere; posters were exhCondé Nast headquarters in New York City, Adobe thenused the travelling exhibit in their outreach ef orts.

here’s one of their most well known projects called the urban forest project.



Some of the world’s most celebrated designers and artists employed the idea or form of the tree to make a powerful visustatement on banners that were displayed throughout Times Square. The tree is ametaphor for sustainability, and in that spirit the banners from the exhibition were recycled into totebags designed exclufor the project by Jack Spade. Profits from the sale of the totebags went to scholarshipand mentorin ro rams for kids to sustain the next eneration of creative talent.



this project really resonated with me. I mean, I didn’t necessarily agree with the idea that we are talking about growing trprinting a whole bunch of stuf onto stuf that use trees to begin with, but they are starting the conversation, they are stathe beginning of a very compassionate story.



so as of recent, they have been getting a lot of attention. they’ve been featured in the “design activist’s handbook”...they aiga have given out $46,000 in scholarships...waddup eli?
