Our Melbourne winter conference in 2016 will feature some of the best speakers available worldwide presenting the Valentine Charlton Conference on Feline Medicine. Our keynote speakers – Drs Susan Little and Andrea
Harvey, are the Editors of four of the five definitive feline texts available internationally, who will be ably supported

The conference will provide four days of everything you

Susan LittleDVM, DABVP
Susan received her BSc from Dalhousie
University (Nova Scotia, Canada) and her DVM from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. She
has been in feline practice since 1990 and achieved board
certification in Feline Practice in 1997. She is part owner of two feline specialty practices in Ottawa, Canada. She is president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners
(AAFP) and is a feline medicine consultant for the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). She is a peer reviewer for the Canadian Veterinary Journal and the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery as well as the author of many journal articles.
She is the editor and co-author of ‘The Cat – Clinical Medicine and Management’ (Elsevier, 2012) and the editor of ‘August’s Consultations in Feline Internal Medicine, Volume 7 (Elsevier, 2015).
Carolyn O’BrienBVSc, MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine, Feline Medicine)
Carolyn O’Brien is a Registered Specialist in Feline Medicine. She
graduated from the University of
Melbourne (1994) and worked in private practice both in
Melbourne and the UK for the first five years of her veterinary career. Carolyn completed a residency in Small Animal
Medicine at the University of Sydney in 2003 and concurrently
obtained a Masters in Veterinary Clinical Studies in the epidemiology and treatment of cryptococcosis in cats and
dogs. After her residency she stayed on at the University
of Sydney as a Senior Registrar. Carolyn moved back to
Melbourne in 2004 to prepare for the Fellowship of the
Australian College of Veterinary Scientists examinations in Feline Medicine. Having successfully gained her fellowship
qualification, she commenced referral practice in Melbourne, from the Veterinary Referral Hospital in Hallam and then from the University of Melbourne, as well as becoming a partner in
a private feline-only clinic in Prahran. She is currently in the
final stages of her PhD project, is a senior tutor for the Feline Medicine Distance Education course and has a busy family life with two children. Carolyn is interested in all aspects of feline
medicine, but particularly in infectious diseases and clinical
microbiology. She also has a strong interest in the theoretical
underpinnings of effective adult learning and professional development.
Steve HollowayBVSc, MVS, PhD, MACVSc, DipACVIMSteven graduated from the University
of Sydney in 1983. He then worked for
two years in private practice in Sydney
followed by a medical internship at the
University of Melbourne after which he was awarded an MVS and obtained membership of the ACVSc (Feline Medicine). Steven then undertook an internal medicine residency at
the University of Florida followed by two years as a clinical
instructor. In 1990 he became a diplomate of the ACVIM (SAM). He worked in an internal medicine referral practice
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1992 and then returned to
Australia in 1994. He was awarded a PhD from the University
of Melbourne in 1998. Steven has lectured in Veterinary Virology at the University of Sydney in 1998 and was a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor of Small Animal Medicine
at the University of Melbourne in 1999-2009. He is currently
a registered specialist in small animal medicine and works at
Advanced Vetcare in Melbourne. His interests include clinical and genetic aspects of disease and the interaction between
infectious diseases and the host immune response.
Richard Woolley BVetMed, DipECVIM-CA (Cardiology), MRCVS
Richard graduated from the Royal
Veterinary College London in 2002 and also passed the North American
Veterinary Licensing Examination in the same year. After graduation he completed a one-year rotating internship
in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of
Edinburgh. Following this he remained at Edinburgh University completing a three-year cardiopulmonary residency including
one year working in the small animal internal medicine
department, passing the first part of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Companion Animals diploma in 2006. Richard remained at the University of Edinburgh after completing his residency where he was employed as a
veterinary cardiologist. He has also completed externships in
the veterinary cardiology departments at Cornell and Florida
Universities. In 2007 Richard came to Australia and has been
working in Melbourne since then. That year he also passed the second part of his diploma and subsequently registered as a
Veterinary Cardiology Specialist in Australia. Richard currently owns and operates CardioRespiratory Pet Referrals, the only
specialist veterinary cardiologist in Victoria.
Andrea Harvey BVSc, DSAM (Feline), DipECVIM-CA, MRCVS, MANZCVS (Assoc)
Dr Andrea Harvey graduated from
University of Bristol Veterinary School, UK in 2000, and after a couple of
years in small animal practice, returned to Bristol Vet School to undertake a 3 year residency in feline medicine, funded
by the Feline Advisory Bureau (now International Cat Care).
She then remained at Bristol Vet School as FAB Lecturer in Feline Medicine until 2011 after which she moved to Sydney
where she runs the feline medicine service at Small Animal
Specialist Hospital. Andrea is also the International Society of
Feline Medicine (ISFM) Australasian Representative, bringing
various initiatives such as the ISFM ‘Cat Friendly Clinic’
scheme to Australia, and helping to develop the international
profile of the feline chapter of ANZCVS. Andrea has lectured widely internationally and contributed to numerous textbooks,
including being co-editor of the BSAVA Manual of Feline Practice. Andrea has wide interests in all aspects of feline
medicine, and is passionate about both providing the best care
for her patients, and helping to support other veterinarians to
do the same.
Kath Briscoe BVSc (Hons I), MVetStud (Small Animal Clinical Studies), FANZVS (Feline Medicine)
Katherine graduated from the University
of Sydney in 2003, graduating with first class honours and the University Medal. Kath worked in private
small animal practice in Sydney and the UK for three years. In
2006, Kath completed her internship in small animal medicine
at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney after which she completed her Fellowship training program in feline
medicine. In 2008, Kath attained membership of the Australian
and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in feline medicine. During her residency, Kath completed a research
project on the pathology of feline low grade alimentary
lymphoma and inflammatory bowel disease. Kath has a keen interest in all aspects of canine and feline medicine, and is also
passionate about providing continuing education for veterinary
practitioners. After 5 years at the University of Sydney, Kath
joined the team at the Animal Referral Hospital, Sydney
where she continues to work. Kath passed her Fellowship
examinations in June 2012.
