Check Up on Your Mid-year Organizing Goals

By Carol Robins

On January 1, many of us made firm and solemn resolutions: “This is the year I'm going to get organized! Go through my closet!” Well here we are in June, so how are we doing? If the answer is “not so well,” here are a few tips to consider:

Give away 1 item a day for 15 days and also consider a trip to your local donation place.

To combat impulse buying make a list of purchases in advance.

If you need help with your motivation, pick small projects that you can accomplish easily.

Don’t make the mistake of purchasing organizing products before you know what you need to do the job.

Every so often go through your wallet or purse and discard what you don’t need.

Make a list of tasks you need to complete and map out a plan to complete them. If they seem too overwhelming you can contact the National Association of Professional Organizers (Tel: (856) 380–6828; E-mail: [email protected]; Web site: www.napo.net) as a resource to obtain a professional consultation.

(This is part two of a three part series)
