About Vision Health SolutionVision Health Solutions (VHS) is based in Cape Town, South Africa and was established in 2013 to support government-run eye care programmes in sub-Saharan Africa with infrastructural development, which includes setting up effective and efficient supply chains for core eye care equipment, materials and pharmaceuticals. Access to reliable, efficient and high quality supplies has been a major obstacle to the success of eye care programmes on the continent.

Vision Health Solutions (VHS) intends to provide eye care programmes that aspire to deliver the best quality eye care services in sub-Saharan Africa with access to a supply chain management resource that provides reliable, efficient and effective supplies of high quality and low cost products. VHS has a direct and committed interest in the strategic aims of these programmes and will help them to deliver eye care services as planned, knowing that the supplies will be available as and when needed.

The primary focus of VHS is on public sector eye care programmes which are funded by government and non-governmental organizations, providing much needed eye care to people who cannot afford private hospitals. VHS is committed to sourcing low cost, quality supplies and equipment and delivering to the programmes on time every time, and deal with problems and queries in a friendly and supportive manner. In short, VHS seeks to provide critical support to programs striving to provide eye care in the region.

We have started providing supplies to customers in our target area, mainly cataract surgical supplies, but foresee that we will require a much broader product list in the very near future. With this spectacles catalogue, we intend to address a core need in the region: that of providing low cost, quality reading glasses to the masses who struggle through life without being able to do the simplest daily tasks, such as looking up addresses and telephone numbers, reading medicine instructions, reading cell phone messages, etc.

VI. VHS other services

Through innovative marketing and procurement strategies, VHS will be sourcing and distributing eye supplies of high quality at competitive prices and will organize timely delivery to facilitate appropriate medical and surgical interventions for prevention of blindness and visual impairment. In addition, VHS will provide eye care programmes with readily accessible support, assistance and training, where necessary, to ensure minimal to zero stock-outs, delays or wastage of resources by providing effective and efficient supply chain management.

VHS provides a full array of supply and logistical support services. This includes the supply of cataract surgical equipment and consumables, spectacles and low vision devices, as well as other products in use at public service eye hospitals. See the appropriate catalogues for those products.

VHS also provides value added services, including training and support for supply chain management. Eye care service managers can approach VHS for advice on how to structure their ordering schedule to suit their local preferences with regards to utilization rates and financial administration.
