COMMUNITY EDUCATION MINISTRY (ESL/GED)

ANNIVERSARY-2/4/11 Tom & Frances Gilham

TRAINING :Our church hosted special TRAINING FOR TEACHERS of adult ESL students January 14-15. A class of 10 participated from several area churches. Our students included Cynthia Lopez, David Ash, Chris Hill, Brit-tany Cleere, Jorge Carmona and Bill Hanna. Certificates were presented to each student by our instructor, Robin Feistel, with Literacy ConneXus of Texas. Robin conducts classes throughout Texas for teachers involved in church related literacy ministries. Congratulations to each of our stu-dents. Thanks to our church for hosting the event and to Ruth for providing

the snacks.

SPEAKING OF SNACKS: A special thanks to each of our cookie bakers for this year who have been so faithful in providing snacks for our students each Wednesday night. These faithful bakers include: Fay Hernandez, Peggy Laird, Pat Ashley, Kris Huff, and Ruth Hanna. Gathering at the stu-dent "snack bar" is a pleasant break for our students and staff. Thanks to

Kevin McGurgan & Ruth Hanna for staffing the snack bar each week.

FAITHFUL TEACHERS this school year in the GED/ESL pro-grams include: GED: Susan Lane, Teri Meyer, Dave Baumgartner, Scott Wil-son, Asti Hoover, and Donna & Harvey Spross. ESL: Jorge Carmona, Brit-tany Cleere, Vicki Trussell, Cynthia Lopez, Karen Perez, Deborah Schell, Michele James, Becky Selby, Rochelle Orwig, & David Ash. Administrative

staff includes Jerry & Sally Willett & Bill Hanna.

CONGRATULATIONS TO GED STUDENT SABRINA MORALES who passed (with flying colors) all 5 sections of the State GED exam and has been awarded her certificate. She was also awarded the Arnold Scholarship which covered the $90 cost of the State exam. Sabrina has now volunteered to tutor other GED students. What a gal! Three other GED students are tak-

ing their exam this month. Pray for their success.
