Tre Bicchieri show in Torontotrebicchieri
The wait for the Tre Bicchieri Event is over. Gambero Rosso comes back to Toronto with a very special edition of its gala Tre Bicchieri tasting. The leading Italian
wine and food media house celebrates its 30th year and many prize-winning wineries from the Vini d’Italia 2017 guide will be featured on the tour.
Moreover, the wineries present will offer some new vintages of their labels, those that have enjoyed the greatest success during the international fairs, ProWein (Dusseldorf) and Vinitaly (Verona), guaranteeing a truly memorable preview tasting.
Under the auspices of the Consulate General of Italy, the event will take place on June 9th in the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex starting from 13:00 to 17:00. A Masterclass about Special Awards 2017, guided by Lorenzo Ruggeri, International Editor, have been scheduled and will feature the nine prize-winning wine that has given the best performance overall.
The event will end with a very exclusive night for wine lovers: a walk around tasting in support of Humber River Hospital Foundation, presented by Liberty Entertainment Group. Moreover the partnership with Toronto Life, appreciated Canadian magazine, will give the opportunity to admire a communication /promotional campaign supported by all the extraordinary associations of the Italian-Canadian community.
And here we have some more news: during the event the best Italian restaurants in town according to the new digital guide Top Italian Restaurants in the World will be honored. The guide rates restaurants, pizzerias, and wine bars dedicated to Italian food and wine culture.
It was 1986 when Gambero Rosso took its first steps as a weekly supplement in the daily newspaper “Il Manifesto”. The year after, we printed the first Gambero Rosso wine guide. In 1999, we founded the first thematic television channel in Europe, followed by the Città del Gusto, schools and master’s programs.
In the meantime, fascination with Italy and its authentic products has swept the world, with wine events as a natural consequence.
The starting point for the events is the enormous work behind the Guida Vini d’Italia: forty-five thousand wines are tasted for every edition and twenty-two thousand are reviewed.
Gambero Rosso, this year, celebrates the thirtieth edition of its Vini d’Italia guide, now translated into English, German, Chinese and Japanese. These have been thirty years of experience, great wines and vast changes. The Guide has accompanied the Renaissance of Italian wine step by step, in an era extraordinarily rich in transformational new approaches. Today, a new generation of both producers and consumers is on the scene, while the arts of communication and promotion have been revolutionized.
After Stockholm, Munich, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Düsseldorf, Verona, Londra and Dubai, on June 9th, the Tre Bicchieri tour will land in Toronto, a key market that shows a growing trend in the consumption and sale of Italian wines.
The flow of wine imports into Canada in 2016 continued to grow slightly. The Canadian wine scene is divided in three, with the United States, France and Italy accounting for one billion of the 1.6 billion euros total imports. While the Americans are losing ground after the powerful gains of recent years, Italian wine dominates the field in terms of volume, at 734,000 hectolitres, up 3%, for a total value of 330 million euros (+1.3% compared to 2015)
The next stop, the final event, will take place in Bordeaux, on June 20, during the Vinexpo.

About GAmbero rosso
Gambero Rosso, the most important
multimedia brand in the Italian food and
wine world, now celebrates its 30th year. In
1986, Gambero Rosso took its first steps as an insert
in a daily newspaper, but by the next year its first
Guida dei Vini went to print, the 1988 edition. After
that, dozens of guides and books followed. In 1999,
Gambero Rosso Channel, the first thematic television
channel in Europe, began broadcasting. Shortly after,
a constellation of the Città del Gusto sites was founded
in Italy, followed by Gambero Rosso Academy in
the rest of the world, with cooking classes for
professionals and amateurs, along with courses about
wine, journalism master programs, and seminars
on restaurant management. Recently, the company
was launched on the stock market. Meanwhile, a
fascination with Italy has been growing in the world,
a longing for its authentic products, and Gambero
Rosso events organized around the globe have
multiplied. Since the first ones in 1990, the number
of events on our international calendar has grown to
over 40. They are above all, but not only, dedicated to
wine, supported by the translations of the guide Vini
d’Italia. That volume is translated in German, English,
Chinese and Japanese.
About Vini d’itAliA 2017
As the thirtieth edition of its
Vini d’Italia guide is being
printed, the Gambero Rosso
world tours begin. These events
represent thirty years of experience,
of great wines, of changes. In the first
edition, 32 Tre Bicchieri were selected
from 1,500 wines tasted. This year, 429
Tre Bicchieri have emerged from over
40,000 labels sampled. The Guide
has accompanied the renaissance of
Italian wine step by step, in an era extraordinarily rich
in transformational new approaches. During these
years, the foundations were laid for the international
affirmation of the Italian wine sector. Today, there is
a new generation of both producers and consumers
on the scene, while the arts of communication and
promotion have been revolutionized.
