Take some fixed electronic soundscreated by University of WisconsinOshkosh alumnus Christopher Jette ’99.Add live singing by alumnus and UWOassistant voice professor NathanKrueger ’88, a baritone. Mix in somevisual art.
The result: A performance to captivatethe senses.
The UWO duo presented cmetq (Communication Etiquette), which examines the etiquette of communicationtechnology during two time periods, for the first time Saturday at the Arts and Communication Center’s MusicHall. A third collaborator, Alejandro Casazi, of British Columnbia, contributed the visual art.
The unique performance— set in the dawn of the telephone age and the adolescence of social media—combined soliloquies and Tweet-length texts.

Jette returned to campus for the performance, funded by the Oshkosh Collegiate Composers. As anundergrad, he studied violin performance at UWO.
“It is wonderful to be back on campus after 20 years,” he said. “My education at UW Oshkosh set me up foreverything I never knew I would do.”
Jette earned a master’s of music degree from the New England Conservatory and a doctorate in compositionfrom the University of California Santa Barbara. This academic year, he is serving as the InterdisciplinaryPerformance Grant Wood Fellow and a visiting assistant music professor at the University of Iowa.
