The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg along with Dr. Durgesh Pant, Director, USEC chaired a technical session in the workshop. 3. 2. Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission

Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission organized two days workshop in Dehradun to bring all the departments at one platform, who are involved in skilling program for the purpose of coordinating for skilled Uttarakhand, and to ensure that the benefits of skilling program reach to unemployed youth of all sections of the State in order to encourage youth for start-up, entrepreneurship or wage/salary employment. Shri Om Prakash, Principal Secretary, Technical Education, Govt. of Uttarakhand inaugurated the workshop “SYNERGY” by lightening the lamp, followed by Ms. Jyotsana Sitling, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Mrs. Manisha Panwar, Principal Secretary, Government of Uttarakhand, Mr. D. 3. Research & Development projects of IEI under Grant-in-Aid scheme

Institution of Engineers bringing out compendium on the R&D projects carried out under this grant-in-aid programme so that the knowledge is disseminated and also to encourage the students and their faculty who are associated with these R&D activities. 4. Revision for Law Courses

On 6th October 2016, a meeting regarding revision of Law Courses of University was held at the Office of Controller of Examination. The meeting was Chaired by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg with the following members Director, Jagran College of Law, Dehradun, Director, Sidhartha College of Law, Dehradun, HoD, Department of law, Uttaranchal University, Dehradun and Controller of Exam, Dr. K.S Vaisla.

5. Meeting with Chief Secretary

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg, on 24th October 2016, attended a meeting with Chief Secretary, Govt. of Uttarakhand regarding start of a new Global Private University, Kotdwar University at Chief Secretary office.

6. Academic Council meeting

The Academic Council meeting was held on 7th October 2016 at UTU. Following members were present:

7. Sports Council

Sports Council, Uttarakhand Technical University organized Inter-Collegiate Kho-kho, Kabbadi and Shooting completion 2016 at Jaspal Rana Institute of Education and Technology (JRIET), Dehradun from 25th -26th Oct. 2016.

Large number of students participated on Inter-Collegiate events with great enthusiasm. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P.K Garg graced the occasion as Chief Guest, Shri. Narayan Singh Rana, Ex-Sports Minister and Smt. Shabali Gurung, Asst. Director, Sports and Physical Education, UTU joined the occasion as Guest of Honor. Students earned applauds in the competitions

Ph.D Viva Voce held

The University recently conducted six Ph.D viva-voce exams in Microbiology, Management, Chemistry and Pharmacy in October 2016. The viva voce exams of Ms. Manjusha, Ms. Meetakshi Belwal, Ms. Harshita, Ms. Poonam Joshi, Ms. Usha Jaiswal and Mr. Shibnath Kamila were successfully completed by the University.

(Hearty Congratulations to all candidates for successful completion of their PhD program).

SIHMCT & AN

The much awaited Tehri Adventure sports festival, one of the biggest water sports event in Asia was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Uttarakhand Shri. Harish Rawat along with the Hon’ble Tourism Minister, Uttarakhand Shri Dinesh Dhanai. The festival started on 15th October where the SIHMCT &AN students escorted the VVIP guests to their rooms in the hotel and even helped in the Catering services for them.

A World Competition of Jet Ski was also held on the same day wherein there were participants from 20 countries. The students provided the best hospitality services to the participants and VVIP’s. Next day, there was a cultural function by famous folk singer of Uttarakhand Narendra Singh Negi and others at Baurari Stadium. The function ended with a 45 minutes of fireworks. The whole function was extravaganza which was thoroughly enjoyed and deeply appreciated by the students and guests.

Shivalik College of Engineering

1. Industrial Visit to Common Effluent Treatment Plant

Department of Civil Engineering organized a one day industrial visit to Common Effluent Treatment Plant, SIDCUL, Haridwar for 3rd year students along the faculty members Dr. Anjana Rajput and Mr. Ashish Mishra. Overall, it was a good exposure with Treatment Plant the Students of Civil Engineering.

The visit was conducted group wise, and covered the following details:- The students visited the following sections and gained the practical knowledge of following unit process at Common Effluent Treatment Plant

The students of 3rd year and the staff members enjoyed the technical endeavor at Common Effluent Treatment Plant. Environment and Safety Officer, Uttarakhand and Project Head Mr. Amit Singh explained all the process followed in Treatment Plant. He told the students that they achieve BOD reduction up to 8-10 mg/l and COD 30 mg/l which is big achievement in itself. He also interacted with students and discussed different perspective of jobs in Civil Engg as well Environmental Engg. Purpose of this visit was to give practical knowledge to the students of the subject i.e., Environmental Engg II.

2. Industrial Visit to Aquamall Water Solutions

Ltd

Under the series of Industry-academia interface, Department of Mechanical Engineering, organized an industrial visit for B. Tech Mechanical Engineering students (2nd year) to Aquamall Water Solutions Ltd, Dehradun. Plant has a State of Art manufacturing facility with annual capacity to produce 1.2 millions domestic water purifiers as well storage type water cooler cum purifiers. After completion of the visit, the students got the idea about;

Reed bed based waste water treatment system Reliability Lab for testing water purifier

components including Environmental Stability testing of Water purifier components

Self-contained water testing labs for microbiological and chemical.

3. Workshop on e-Yantra FIREBIRD V Robot

A workshop on e-Yantra FIREBIRD V Robot was conducted by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering under eLSI Lab, established by IIT Bombay at SCE premises. The aim of the workshop was to familiarize the students of II and III Year with the e-Yantra Lab, and make them aware of the national level competition (eYRC) to be conducted by IIT Bombay. The introductory session was taken by faculty Coordinator Ms. Pragya Pant, Assistant Professor, ECE and preceding sessions were taken by the Student coordinators & member of e-Yantra Team Abhishek Kumar and Kush Virat of ECE IV Year.

4. SCE students participated in e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC)

e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) is a unique annual competition for undergraduate students in Science and Technology conducted by IIT Bombay. Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun got the opportunity to participate in the competition. The competition involves different levels of difficulties started with objective test of prescribed syllabus which was held at SCE premises. The final winners of this competition will be offered summer internship at IIT Bombay through e-Yantra Summer Internship Program. The Team participated from SCE comprised of 4 members- Mr Siddhant Uniyal (ECE IV Year), Mr Abhishek Kumar (ECE IV Year), Mr Kush Virat (ECE IV Year) and Mr Vishal Garg (CSE IV Year) under

the effective guidance of Ms. Pragya Pant, Assistant Professor, ECE.

5. Workshop on LEGO-Mindstorm

A workshop on LEGO-Mindstorm Robot was conducted by e-yantra Robotics Club of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SCE premises. The aim of the workshop is to familiarize intermediate students with Robotics, which is the branch of engineering that involves conception, design, manufacture, and operation of robots. This field overlaps with electronics, computer science, artificial intelligence, mechatronics, nanotechnology and bioengineering.

The introductory session was taken by Assistant Professor Mr Mukesh Pathela (H.O.D), ECE faculty Coordinator Assistant Professor Mr Ajit Singh Rathore, ECE & Assistant Professor Mr Ankit Jha, ECE. Preceding sessions were taken by the student coordinators and member of Robotics Club Mr Kush Virat, Mr Luv Vyomm, Mr Abhishek Kumar, Ms Ankita Saini and Ms Priti Kumari of ECE IV Year.

6. Industrial Visit to NBCC Construction site of NABARD

Department of Civil Engineering organized an industrial visit for B.Tech 2nd year students to the construction site of NABARD Regional Office Building at Sahastradhara Road, Dehradun. 54 students were accompanied with 2 faculty members Mr. Anand Singh and Mr. Indramohan. The project is executed by National Building Construction Corporation Ltd. (NBCC). Er. Arvind Mehar, site in-charge described the various construction activities going on in the project.

Students were made aware of the Green Building concept along with the materials and techniques used for green building construction.

7. Picnic Trip to Dhanaulti

A much deserved break from regular routine work was given to students and teachers.

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organized a SCE college picnic trip to Surkunda Devi and Eco park, Dhanaulti which was held on 14th Oct 2016. It was indeed a fun filled day.

Roorkee College of Engineering

1. Campus Drive:

Many renowned companies have organized the campus drives for every discipline of B. Tech in RCE. Among them are Aarvi Electromech Pvt. Ltd, Toxsl Technologies, Soft Solutions Pvt. Ltd etc. Many students obtained offers from these companies.

2. Workshop:

A technical workshop was organized by CMS IT Services Private Limited, where all B.Tech students participated.

3. Guest Lecture Series:

A guest Lecture series for every branch of Engineering is in the progress. Professor Sooraj Prakash Harsha, Professor Anil Kumar of Mechanical from IIT Roorkee, Professor Satyendra Mittal of Civil from IIT Roorkee, Professor Sandeep Kumar Garg and Professor Partha Pritham Roy of computer from IIT have delivered very thought provoking lectures.

The students were very keen to listen there types of expert lectures.

4. Spiritual Lecture:

Apart from technical lectures, spiritual lecture was also organized to boost up the moral values of the students. Acharya Aditya Yogi gave a lecture consisting of yoga, science and spiritual thoughts.

Many students took the advantage.

5. Free Eye Checkup Camp:

As per past tradition, free Eye Checkup Camp was organized this year too by the combined efforts of Government Pensioners Welfare Organization and Ganga Mata Charitable trust and Eye Research Centre, Haridwar.

355 people from nearby area came to get their eyes checked. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Mayur Dixit, SDM Roorkee city who expressed his great pleasure for this noble deed of RCE.

College of Engineering Roorkee

1. ICE –AGE Lecture

Under ICE –AGE Lecture series on October 21, 2016, Dr. R. K. Goel, from CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) and presently holding the post of Chief Scientist and Scientist-in-Charge of Roorkee Centre of CSIR-CIMFR delivered an expert lecture on “Tunneling Challenges in Himalaya”. He gave insight on tunneling techniques, types of tunnels and difficulties during tunneling in extreme conditions.

Lecture was attended by students of second and third year Civil Engg and faculty members. Director General, Maj Gen (Retd.) A. K. Chaturvedi welcomed Dr. R. K. Goel by presenting a flower bouquet and presented a memento as token of love and respect and gave macroscopic view on

topic. Director Dr. S. Mitra was also present during the discussion. Dr. Mridula acted as the MOC of the function.

2. Achievement of COERians

Team TRAIC, COER grabbed both first and second position in Robo race held on DIT University, Dehradun Techno cultural fest during 20-22 October 2016.

3. A test conducted to check proficiency in English Language (TOPEL)

The Linguistic Committee conducted its event TOPEL

(Test Of Proficiency in English Language ) on October 17.The event consisted of a single pen-paper round with

various objective questions of English in Grammar, Para jumble etc. English, as it is already established, is a world-wide accepted language, thus this event checked students on their command of English language. The event was

open to all the students and 135 were in attendance. Ms Mansawani Bhatt and Mr Nikhil Mainali graciously hosted the event. The event was conducted in two slots. The first slot was for the students of second year, pre-final year and final year, and the second slot was for the students of first year. Most of the attendees were freshers. Ms Kanika Chauhan, 2nd year, and Mr Devashish Goyal, 1st year outshone in the event.

4. Tour of COER Eco Club to Shantikunj

An educational tour of COER Eco Club went to Shanti kunj October 23, 2016. The aim of the tour was to participate in workshop organised by the experts of Shantikunj University on the topic "Namami Ganga" : A mission to sustain Ganga river via community participation and solid waste management from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar. The workshop was very much effective in cultural, social, ethical and techno-scientific way.

5. Kanhi Likho Pratiyogita

“Kanhi Likho Pratiyogita” was organized by the Literary Committee in Hindi for promotion of national language among young engineers. The committee also organized “War of Words”- an english debate competition to promote the expression of thought and opinion on current socio-political issues-namely Teen Talaaque, Political Isolation of Pakistan against Uri case. It was organized on Oct. 21, 2016.

6. Cultural Performance by Dr. Anwesa Mahanta, an artist in Sattriya dance of Doordarshan

On the delightful evening of 21st October, SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) COER sub-chapter organized an astounding performance of Sattriya Dance by Dr. Anwesa Mahanta. Dr. Anwesa Mahanta has received accolades from the art connoisseurs and scholars for the grace and liveliness of her dance and the expressiveness of her abhinaya. She has been an active performer since 2001, presenting Sattriya in its solo form. She has performed extensively across India and also abroad, appearing at many prestigious dance festivals. She is an ‘A’ grade artist in Sattriya dance of Doordarshan. Dr. Anwesa is the Jt. Secretary and Festival Director of KALPA, A Society for Promotion of Literature Art, Culture and Social Harmony and coordinates Pragjyoti International Dance Festival, a Festival of Young Classical Dancers in Guwahati.

The performance by Dr. Anwesa was held at Seminar Hall, COER at 5:30pm. She was accompanied by Shri Hari Saikia, Shri Bhupen Rajbongshi and Shri Gautam Bayanon Dholak, Harmonium and Flute. The students of SPIC MACAY COER warm heartedly welcomed the artists on stage. The performance was witnessed by all the higher dignitaries of COER. During her performance in COER, she performed the Rasleela of Krishna , Pootna Moksh and the Krishna’s Vrindavan Krida by Shri Shankar Das. Sattriya dance has been practiced by the artists for past 500 years and is also practiced every day in the temples of Assam.

7. Workshops/ Seminars organized and attended in COER

A three days Webinar on Power System Design and Analysis using DIgSILENT Power Factory Software was organized by Mr Gaurav Mittal, Assistant Professor, EN deptt and Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Assistant Professor, EN deptt, held at COER on 28th - 30th September 2016. 45 students and all the faculty members participated in this program. In this webinar modelling of power transmission and distribution, Load flow analysis and short circuit

analysis including simulatoin were disscussed. Civil Engineering department organized a workshop for

Primavera software on 16 October, 2016 where students would made aware for the following main things:

1. Balance resource capacity 2. Plan, schedule, and control complex projects 3. Allocate best resources and track progress 4. Monitor and visualize project performance versus

plan 5. Conduct what-if analysis and analyze alternative

project plans. Seminar on “Quality Assurance Six Sigma Level” was organised by Electrical and Mechanical Deptt, held at COER on 25th october 2016. Mr B. Kumar, retired General Manager, BHEL Haridwar was the guest speaker in this seminar. Presently, he is working as Director of Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) and inchare of northern region. In this seminar, students of Electrical and Mechanical branch participated.

8. Industrial Visit

An industrial visit was organized for Mechanical Engineering second year student to BHEL Haridwar, Turbine Blade Shop and Heavy Electrical Equipment Plant.

Another industrial visit was organised by the Electrical Department to Uttaranchal Pulp and Paper Mill (P) Ltd. on 25th October 2016. Total 55 students of B Tech 2nd year of EN Branch of College of Engineering Roorkee (COER) along with two faculty members of EN Department, Mr. Nitin Chand and Mr. Vishal Saini visited the organisation.

An Industrial visit was being organized by Electronics & Telecommunication Deptt for the students of Electronics and Telecommunication Engg in the 58th Armoured Brigade, Roorkee on 17th October. A group of 43 students with two faculty members of Electronics and Telecommunication Department, Mr. B.D Patel, and Mr. Puneet Gaur were present in this Visit, where they were shown the various tanks which are used in our Indian Army.

The students of 3rd year of Electronics and Telecommunication branch from College of Engineering Roorkee got a golden opportunity to be enlightened with the working style of Indian Air Force on October 13. They were taken for the visit to Ambala Cantt Air Force where they have seen the radar station and shown the latest techniques of monitoring the planes. Two famous fighter planes present over there are JAGUAR and MIG-21.

An Industrial visit was being organized by Civil Engineering Department for the students of third year Civil Engg branch to visit Bhimgoda Barrage Haridwar. The Bhimgoda Barrage, also referred to as the Bhimgoda Weir or Bhimgoda Headworks, is a barrage on the Ganges River at Har ki Paurinear Haridwar in Haridwar district. Built as the headworks of the Upper Ganges Canal, an initial barrage was completed by 1854 and replaced twice; the final one completed in 1983. The primary purpose for the barrage is irrigation but it also serves to provide water for hydroelectric power production and control floods. The area behind the barrage is known as the Neel Dhara Bird Sanctuary and is a popular destination for various water birds and tourists.

9. Deepsandhya 2016

Like every year on the occasion of Deepawali festival, an eye soothing cultural program “DeepSandhya’16” was observed on October 24. Various cultural activities

including singing, dancing and skit were performed by COERians on this auspicious occasion. All the performances were much appreciated by all the dignitaries and the students. The cultural program was followed by the beautiful cracker show of one hour in the cricket ground.

On the occasion of Deepsandhya college of Engineering Roorkee (COER) also Invite foe lunch for Poor Children’s from near villages.

SDIMT

1. Foundation Day

On the auspicious occasion of foundation day of SDIMT, Haridwar, Hawan & Puja were performed at the Institute in the presence of Kulpati Sh. Acharya Hari Gopal Shastri and General Secretary Mr. Yogendra Singh Chauhan , Managing Director Mr. Anil Goyal , Director General Prof. S.C. Dhamija, Dean Academics Ms. Jailaxmi, Ms. Richa Ohri and all the faculty members. Mr. Anil Goyal announced that the Annual festival GOONJ’ 2016 will be organized in the Institute from Oct 3 to Oct 8.

In this festival, many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities will be organized, and students participated and inculcated team building, co-operation and other professional qualities for their better future and successful career. The festival started with lighting the lamp by our Director General Prof. S. C. Dhamija and all faculty

members of MBA, BBA and BCA. This was followed by Saraswati Vandana recited by our beloved students.The festival showcased events ranging from cultural to academics. The main highlights were debate competition, documentary film making, group discussion, poster making, team spirit, fancy dress competition, singing, dance competition, rangoli competition, spoon race, badminton, Kho-Kho volley ball competition etc. Students also organized food stalls of delicious snacks and earned money for their hard work and initiation.

The 6 day long annual festival finally brought the enthusiasm and dedication of SDIMT student community into the spotlight. Apart from fun, frolic and platform that it offers to students to exhibit their talents, the fest was also an acid test of some student’s managerial skills as well as the flexibility in decision making of the teachers.

On the last day certificate and prizes were distributed by our chief guest honourable Kulpati Acharya Hari Gopal Shastri and Mr. Yogendra Singh, Mahamantri of Gurukul Mahavidyalaya. They also encouraged and appreciated students for their participation and blessed them with their inspiring speech. Respected Shastriji motivated the students in his own poetic style.

At the end of Goonj’16, everyone looked forward to its return in 2017 with great vigour, spirit as well as participation. Details of the various activities are :-

2. Debate competition

The SDIMT Haridwar Institute celebrated their annual fest “GOONJ-2K16” started with debate competition on 03rd October. In the presence of Director General Prof. S.C. Dhamija and Dean Academics Ms. Jailaxmi, this event was successfully organized by Mr. Kapil Sharma. Debate competition was based on topics:-

1. Should cell phone be used during class? 2. Should plastic bag be banned? 3. How Social Networking effect a Human life? There were eight students from MBA, BBA and BCA courses who participated in this competition, Ms Ritika Kaushik, Ms Komal Sahdev, Ms Nandini Dua, Ms Laxmi Bartwal, Ms Isha Chauhan, Mr Vikas Mandal, Ms Akanksha Saini and Mr Rajat Singh. Finally, Ms Ritika Kaushik got first prize, Ms Akanksha Saini got second prize and Mr Vikas Mandal got third prize. Ms. Astha Sharma and Mr. Sunil Kumar Sharma seated as jury member.

3. Rangoli Competition

The Rangoli Competition was held on 3rd Oct. which was organized by Ms. Jailaxmi. The theme of the competition was ‘Save girl Child’. Various teams participated with great zeal and the efforts of the students were amazing. The panel of judges included Ms. Priyanka Chhachhar and Ms. Vindya Sharma. The winner of the competition were Ms Isha, Ms Nandini, Mr Gaurav and Ms Nisha.

4. Singing Competition

The Singing Competition was held on 3rd Oct which was organized by Mrs. Kriti Jain. The panel of judges included Prof. S.C. Dhamija and Ms. Diksha. Ist position was secured Ms. Isha Chauhan, B.C.A 2nd year and for IInd position there was a tie between Ms Ritika Kaushik and Mr Chirayu Bhargava.

5. Quiz Competition

The Quiz Competition was held on 4th Oct. which was organized by Ms. Jailaxmi, Dean Academics and Dr. Ranjna Babbar .The panel of judges included Mrs. Kriti Jain and Ms. Shabhana Ansari. The winner of the competition was team Maheswara with students Mr Deepak, Mr Gagan Ramakant and Mr Mukul (BBA-1st Sem).

6. Team Spirit

The Team Spirit was held on 5th Oct which was organized by Dr. Ranjna Babbar and Ms. Aastha Sharma.The main motive of such activities is to built co-ordination & teamwork among the students. The panel of judges included Ms. Jailaxmi, Dean Academics and Mr. Hitesh.

7. KHO-KHO Competition

On 5th Oct., KHO-KHO competition was held in the Institute at Haridwar, in which BBA, BCA & MBA students participated. Team A comprising of Mr Ajay Rana, MrVijay Rana, Mr Akash, Mr Tushar, Ms Nisha, Mr Saurabh, Ms Jyoti and Mr Sunny won the match. Mr Pankaj Kumar was the refree for the match. This match was the mixed match in which both boys and girls participated.

8. Documentary competition

On 5th Oct., documentary competition was held at the institute, in which 5 teams participated, The topic of the

documentary was ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Students put their best efforts, and the judges Ms. Anjum Siddiqi and Ms. Soniya announced the winning teams but there was tie between the two teams, Ms Ritika Kaushik and Ms Priyanka Chanderiya (MBA -3rd sem) and Ms Soniya Gupta and Ms Anjali Chauhan (BBA 5th sem) were winners, and the runner up team was Mr Paras Bansal and Mr Manjeet Pal. The competition was coordinated by Ms. Priyanka Chhachhar.

9. BBA Team wins Volleyball match

On 6th Oct, a volleyball match was played between BBA and BCA teams. It was really a tough match where BBA team ended the match in the third set to claim victory. Mr Mukul was judged as the best player in overall match. Match Referee were Mr. Hitesh Pujari and Mr. Pankaj Choudhary. The scorer was Mr. Kapil Sharma. The winning team comprised of Mr Shrey (Captain), Mr Mukul, Mr Deepak, Mr Chetan Kumar, Mr Gagan, Mr Yashu and Ms Laxmi Berthwal.

10. Group Discussion

On 7th Oct, a group discussion was organized and coordinated by Ms. Shabana. There were 3 groups, from BBA, BCA and MBA. The topics for discussion were “Women Empowerment: Causes Increasing Divorce rate iIn India”; “Entrepreneurs v/s Managers” and “How To Deal with International Terrorism”. Students put their views on these topics and the Judges Prof. S.C. Dhamija, Ms. Kriti and Ms. Priyanka Chhachhar announced the name of the winners. Ms. Ritika Kaushik (MBA-3rd Sem), stood first and Ms. Anjali Chauhan (BBA 5th Sem), and Ms Menka Arora (BBA 3rd Sem) got second and third prizes, respectively.

11. Badminton tournament (Single’s)

On 7th Oct., interclass badminton tournament was organized where students of MBA, BBA & BCA participated. The tournament was inaugurated by the Prof. S.C. Dhamija, Director General of the Institute along with the faculty members. Matches were held separately for boys & girls. There were 48 students which include 28 boys & 20 girls. The students took part enthusiastically with true sportsmanship spirit. The whole event went fairly under the expertise of Referees Mr. Pankaj and Mr. Hitesh Pujari. At the end Prof .S.C Dhamija honoured the winners with the medals, the final winners of tournament among the boys are “Chirayu” MBA Ist and the first & second runner up were Mr Ekansh and Mr Tushar from

BCA. Among the girls who hit the championship throne were Ms Nisha Dhiman from BCA and the first & second runner up were Ms Akanshaand Ms Swati from MBA & BBA, respectively. The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. Diskha Choudhary.

12. Add Mad Show

On 8th Oct., an Add Mad Show was held at the college campus, having competition among 5 teams. The participants of the winning team were Ms Ritika Kaushik, Mr Prabhjeet Singh, Mr Sandeep and Ms Komal Mishra. They presented an Add on ‘Marriage Mobile Cover’. The judges were Ms. Aastha Sharma and Ms. Priyanka Chhachhar. The event was coordinated by Ms. Shabana.

13. Ramp Walk Competition

In afternoon of 8th Oct., a Ramp Walk Competition was held in which BBA, BCA & MBA students participated. In this competition ‘Atheros Team’ with theme of usage of waste material got Ist prize. Students of ‘Atheros Team’ were Mr Abdul Samad, Ms Komal Sehdev, Ms Isha Chauhan, Mr Tushar Gaba and Ms Nandini Dua, Mr Ajay Rana, Mr Vijay Rana, Ms Neetu Saini, Mr Ekansh Karnwal, Mr Akash Rana, Mr Sangam Singh, Mr Varun, Ms Shivani, Ms Nisha and Mr Aafrin.

14. Dance Competition

A Dance Competition was held on 8th Oct which was organized by Ms. Aastha Sharma. The competition was based on solo & group performance. In solo performance, the participants needed to pass a message to the audience for social welfare, while group dance competition was based on Garba. The winner for solo performance was Ms. Mohini Ravi of B.B.A 1stSem. The winners for group dance were BCA students named Ms Isha Chauhan, Ms Nandini Dua, Ms Shivani, Ms Sangam and Ms Gunjan. At the end of the dance competition a tribute was given by the students to the martyr soldiers in Uri Attack.

Sardar Bhagwan Singh Post Graduate Institute

Internationally acclaimed Kathakali Dancer, Kalamandalam Amaljith and his group performed Kathakali dance at SBS P.G. Institute of Biomedical Sciences and Research, Balawala, organized under the aegis of SPIC MACAY. The program was inaugurated by Director of the Institute Prof. F.C. Garg with the lamp lighting ceremony.

The staff and students of the Institute viewed the ancient well known folk dance form known for its elaborate costume, striking make-up of characters, detailed gestures and well defined body movements. Performance of the artists left the audience spellbound. Dance session was followed by an interactive session with the students which gave them an opportunity to get acquainted with its finer nuances.

Maya Group of College

1. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’

On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti October 1st, Maya Group of Colleges celebrated one day campaign for Clean India. The management, faculty, students and staff took oath to keep the campus and the area around neat and clean. The members of Maya Family seemed enthusiastic and excited at the occasion.

Chairman Shri M.L. Juyal while interacting with students told that we can earn both health and wealth by keeping cleanliness around us. He said that only a clean environment can give a healthy body and mind which is necessary for each individual.

The program was carried forward by Vice Chairman Shri Aashish Semwal, Managing Director Smt. Tripti Semwal

and Secretary Shri Sourabh Juyal where they spoke with the students to keep their society and environment clean. The students, faculties and staff members enthusiastically participated in the campaign.

2. One Day Workshop on Android Application Development by Insergo Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

A one day Workshop on Android Applications Development was held by Insergo Technologies Private Limited on 07th October. All the CSE students attended the workshop, where Android Application Trainer Mr. Kuldeep trained students to make Android Applications. He also said that Android Applications is required by the current Market because most of the Mobile users are using Android Devices.

The students were fonnd immensely satisfied with the workshop, and thanked management for organizing such kind of activities to promote and improve the efficiency of the students in the Industrial sectors. Students has also done the practical work for Android Application Development, College Vice-Chairman Mr Ashish Semwal, MD Ms Tripti Semwal, Chairman Sri M.L Juyal, Secretary Mr Saurav Juyal, and Director Dr. Parul Goyal were present in the workshop.

Indian Business School organized a students development program in which Mr. Vikram Sharma explained the importance of management in business Environment. Now a days, everyone knows the importance of LEDs. Based on the OLED concept, Maya Group of College organized a one day workshop where all students of ECE and EEE department participated.

1. Swatch Bharat Abhiyan

Students and Faculty members of JB Institute of Technology, Dehradun organised Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan on 02.10.16 the occasion of Jayanti of Mahatama Gandhi and Shri Lal Bahadur Sastri.

2. Campus Placement by Bridgestone India Automotive Products Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon

A well-known multinational brand of automobile sector- Bridgestone India Automotive Products Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon hosted its open pool campus drive at JB Institute of Technology, Dehradun on 03.10.16. After several rounds, a total of 32 students were selected from mechanical engineering stream. Joint Director and Dean (Academic)-Mr. Pankaj Chaudhary thanked the delegates and urged all selected students to work very hard with the company and contribute in the vision of Make in India.

3. Campus Placement by “Value Prospect Consulting, Ghaziabad”

Reputed research based IT company “Value Prospect Consulting, Ghaziabad” hosted its open pool campus drive at JB Institute of Technology, Dehradun on 15.10.16. 822 students from 21 different colleges of Uttrakhand appeared in the campus placement drive with full enthusiasm. After several rounds of selection procedures, a total of 70 students from different colleges were selected. 13 students were selected from JB Institute of Technology, Dehradun.

4. Diwali Celebration by faculty and staff members

Staff and faculty members hosted a get to gather on 29.10.16 to celebrated Dipawali. Chairman- Mr. L.D. Singhal wished Happy Dipawali to all staff and faculty members.

A large number of internal activities were also organized by the faculty members to make the celebration memorable. All faculty members enjoyed a lot and prayed happy festivals to all.

GRD-(PG)IMT 1. Industrial Tour

An Industrial tour was organized by the Dept. of Pharmacy, GRD (PG) IMT, Dehradun on 20th Oct., to give an opportunity to expose the students to understand the practical and industrial working atmosphere. Students of B. Pharm 4th year have visited Cipla, Baddi (H.P).

Company facilitated the students to visit various departments, and gave thorough information on tablets, capsules, packaging units and QC and QA departments. The students were accompanied by faculty members. Mr. Vikas Jakhmola, Dr. Arvind Negi and Ms. Tanuja Bisht . Further, the students also visited Kullu Manali, Rohtang and Shimla. Finally, the students submitted their visit report to Director of Pharmacy Dr. Lakshmayya. Further, Chairman GRD trust Mr Sardar Raja Singh and Admin Director Mrs. Lata Gupta appreciated the faculty members for organizing the tour. 2. Visit to Wadia Institute Around 51 students of B. Nautiyal Musuem, Research Scholars explained about fossils and Himalaya and paintings depicting the impact of human activities on the environment displayed in the Museum remained a point of attraction for the students also visited to Xray Diffraction Analysis Lab, Dr. M. K. Juyal explained the importance of SEM analysis in detection of percentage of minerals and their morphological studies qualitatively and quantitatively. The students were accompanied by Director of Pharmacy Dr. Lakshmayya and faculty members. Mr. Vikash Jakhmola, Mr. Pankaj Gaur and Ms.Tanuja Bisht. Bishamber Sahai Institute

1. Fresher Party

It is matter of immense pleasure for Bishamber Sahai Group of Institute, Roorkee to organize the fresher party for the new students of session 2016-17 by Roop Chand Sharma Education Trust. The Secretary of Institute Mr. Chandra Bhushan Sharma attended the function as Chief Guest of the fresher party and spoke in his speech that from the ancient times as we welcomed over guests in our home, similarly in the Institutions also new admissions should be welcomed. In this party, Smt. Rekha Sharma, the special invitee guest of this function, said that being the Chairman of Institute, it

is my duty to think for the personality development of students and these type of activities and cultural events result in over all personality development of the students. The Managing Director of Institute, Mr. Gourav Bhusan Sharma said in his speech that the process of Institute depends on the development of its students, and we are regularly working hard for the development of students. The Head of Management Studies Mr. Shazeb Alam presented a tribute song for over brave soldiers who lost their lives in URI Kashmir .

The Head of B. Tech. Department, Mr. Diwakar Jain said in his speech that beside studies these types of extra-curricular activities are also important for the personality development of students, and in this world of competition these activities are equally important. The students from various courses performed number of thrilling performances which included kathak dance, solo dances, singing performances and many other laughter performances which make this party a successful one. The students of B.Tech, MBA, BBA, BCA courses also performed modeling on ramp in which different students dressed them on various themes, like western themes and traditional themes. On the basis of the modeling performance, the Management Committee announced Mr. Fresher & Miss Fresher awards. Mr. Vishal and Ms Preeti from Technical Dept. were awarded by the crown of Mr Fresher & Miss Fresher. This function ends by a sweet melodious song performance by Jalwa Band of BSI students.

Diwali is celebrated with great vigor and zeal at Bishamber Sahai Institute of Technology, Roorkee, organised by Roop Chand Sharma Education Trust. This celebration was held on dated 28 Oct. All students and staff members

celebrated this festival with the enactment of a short skit based on Lord Rama’s return from exile resulting in celebrations in Ayodhya.

This celebration was inaugurated by the traditional lamp enlightening ceremony and Mangal Aarti by Chairman of Institute Sh. Chandra Bhushan Sharma. The Director of Institute Sh Gaurav Bhushan Sharma said in his speech that we should celebrate this festival with brotherhood, as just we decorate our housing with lights Similarly, we should decorate our thoughts and feelings. Astt. Prof. B.Tech Deptt Mr Diwakar Jain addressed the students to use eco-friendly crackers and should try their best not to use such type of crackers which pollute our environment. The head of MBA Deptt Mr Shahzeb Alam also participated in the event and heartly wished the management and students for their prosperity and success.

The students of MBA and B.Tech Deptt participated in Rangoli, Mehandi and Earthen lamp decoration competition in which Miss Shivani of MBA IInd year won Rangoli competition, Ms Komal of MBA IInd year won Mehandi competition and Ms Suhani Srivastav student of B.Tech 2nd year won lamp decoration competition. The celebrations started in the morning and continued till evening.

Amrapali Institute of Hotel Management

1. Late Smt. Kamla Dhingra Memorial Meet

The Institute is highly influenced with the lines of Brian Graham “Competition creates better product, alliances create better companies. Competition is a life of every business, and one can think of competing then only when the person is well equipped with its competencies. Walking through the same thought, the Institute every year organizes Kamla Dhingra Memorial Meet in the memory of our CEO Dr. Sanjay Dhingra’s beloved mother. As a tribute to her, this inter collegiate event is held to bring out

the competitive spirit in the students through various competitions organized, such as word power and Quiz. Mr. Harbeer Singh (ADM) was the Chief Guest for the event. 17 colleges participated in this event. Birla Institute of Applied Science, Bhimtal won the first prize in quiz and word power competition. They also won the running trophy for KDMM 2016.

Amrapali institute of Hotel Management took the initiative of providing an exposure to students to exhibit their culinary skills as well as their managerial skills by setting up a theme for lunch within the department. The students took the initiative of setting up the advanced restaurant for the KDMM invited guest and prepared & presented various delicious recipes under the strict guidance of faculty team as well as COO. It ended up by receiving lot of laurels for both the students as well as the entire team of faculty members who helped to make this event a successful one.

Here we keep on revamping their program to provide more hands-on training that they then apply out in the real world. Students use the real equipments and learn from the real bartenders about everything from setting up the bar to breaking it down at the end of the night. This course also teaches the students how to simultaneously build drinks, whilst demonstrating an array of fantastic flair skills including glass, ice, garnish and multiple bottle tricks. Moreover, for learning all stuff, no one had to go outside the Institute premises i.e., we scheduled this add-on certification course during the Institute hours only.

Roorkee Institute of Technology

1. Development of EMS Model for Indian Manufacturing Industry: A Research

Performance measures of EMS Model, improve environmental performance of manufacturing Industries. The Manufacturing industries should improve the all concern performance measures to achieve the environmental outcomes. This is the findings of Dr. Amit K. Tanwer, Prof & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Roorkee Institute of Technology, Roorkee. For his research entitled “Development of an Environmental management system (EMS) model for Indian manufacturing Industries” Dr. Tanwer received a Ph.D. degree at the 46th Annual Convocation of the PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh on Oct 22. Dr. Tanwer said that sustainable development cannot be possible without effective implementation of environmental management in the manufacturing industries.

Dr.Tanwer said the main objective of this research is to represent an integrated perspective of EMS model for finding out the contribution of human resources and organizational performance measures to improve the environmental performance of Micro scale , SMEs, and l;arge scale Indian manufacturing industries. He said top managers of micro-scale, SMEs and large scale industries

of 13 Indian states helped for providing data for research work.

2. Day Sports Meet

On 24th Oct., a three days Intra Deptt Sports meet was jointly inaugurated by Management Trustee Mr Naman Bansal, Mr. Yash Agarwal, Director General Prof. A.K. Mathur and Director Prof. Parag Jain. The sports events were held in the sports ground of RIT. On 24th, B.Tech CSE, and Mechanical Deptt. won the matches.

On second day, Diploma (Civil) B.Tech (Civil) won cricket matches. B.Tech Civil Engg students won volleyball and basketball matches. On third day, B.Tech (M.E.) students were winner of football matches. CE was winner of cricket and B.Tech (ME) was winner of volleyball. CSE was winner of basketball. On 26 Oct, a prize distribution function was organised. Prizes were given away to winner by Management Trustee Mr. Naman Bansal, Mr. Yash Agarwal, Director General Prof. A. K. Mathur and Director Prof. Parag Jain. Three days sports meet thus culminated with a happy note.
