Bing Licensing Update Utility Release Notes 2

Extending the MapInfo Professional Bing Service

Follow the steps below to extend this service:

Your computer must be connected to the Internet to download Bing service

    1. Create a temporary folder on your computer, for example, C:\Temp\MIProBingUpdate.

    2. Download the Bing Service update from the location,http://content.pbinsight.com/product-downloads/

    mapinfo-professional/BingUtility/MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.zip.

    3. Click Saveto save the file in the temp folder created in Step 1.

    4. Once the download is complete, unzip the utility in the temp folder.

    5. Double click the MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exefile and follow the wizard instructions.

This file is password protected. You would be prompted to enter a password to install this setup.

    Advanced Installation for System Administrators

This section is for the system administrator installing this update using a command line.

    Running in Silent Mode

Open the command prompt as an administrator and run the following command:

    \MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe /s /vSILINST=True

    Where:

/v= passes the parameter "SILINST=True" into the setup.exe to suppress the GUI.

    /s= runs the setup.exe silently.

    For example,

    C:\temp\MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe /s /v"SILINST=True"

    "C:\temp folder\MapInfoProfessionalBingServicesUpdate.exe" /s /v"SILINST=True"

The quotes in the second example are required because the path contains a space (between the words temp and

    folder).

    Log Files

To check if the MapInfo Professional Bing Service Utility has successfully extended the Microsoft Bing Imagery

functionality, you need to see the following log file(s) that are created during the installation process. They are:

    1. PBMSBingServices.log This log file will be created if basic Bing service is updated.

    2. PBMSPBingServices.log This log file will be created if the Bing premium service is updated.

These log files are stored in the temp folder on your computer.

    Windows 7/2008:C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Temp
