Thank you to Alise Cendagorta for chairing the annual club picnic. Everyone had a great time! Congratulations to Cristina Sangroniz and Brad Greeno, who won the horseshoe competition at the picnic. Thank you to all who helped set up, organize Mass, cook and serve the barbecue, organize the games and clean up. It could not happen without you! Look for pictures on page 4. Dancer Fundraiser a Success! The Basque Club of Utah Dancers, Utah’ko Trskalariak, recently held a fundraising raffle at the club picnic on June 23. The raffle was a great success! They made $1500 for their trip to New York! The dancers would like to thank everyone for supporting their raffle! And a special thanks to Larry Osoro for donating two of his paintings. The winners were: Third prize – one of Larry’s paintings – went to Mary Larrinaga. Second Prize – the other painting – went to John Cendagorta. The first prize winner of the 16 GB iPad went to club member, Douglas Black. Thanks again for supporting our dancers! Have a great time in New York!

Dancers Update!The Basque Club of Utah dancers, Utah 'koTriskalariak, are having a very busy year! Theyrecently performed in Elko at the NABO Conventionand also in Rock Springs Wyoming at their annualInternational Days Celebration.

They were featured on the front page of the localnewspaper in Rock Springs - the "Rocket-Miner" onSunday, July 14th. They were the hit of the fair alongwith the music of Jean and Jean-Jules Flesher!

On August 17th, they will perform for the DenverBasque Club, on September 15th, they will performat the Carmelite Fair in Holladay and on October13th, they will be performing in New York.

Club Wins Blood Sausage ContestCongratulations to our club for winning first placein the blood sausage division at the sausagecook-off at the NABO Convention in Elko! Therewere 7 entries this year and ours was voted thebest. Below is a picture of Pantxo with the firstprize plaque.

Thank you to all who help keep this tradition aliveby making the sausage and to Pantxo Aguerre forhis family recipe!

Club Member wins Contest!Congratulations to Anthony Ithurralde, who won atrip to New York for the premier of The GreatGatsby! Anthony’s artwork was chosen by thedirector as one of the winners of a Warner Bros.sponsored contest.

NEWSNEWSNEWSNEWSNEWSCarmelite Fair on September 15Volunteers are needed for the Basque Booth atthe Carmelite Fair. The fair will take place onSeptember 15 from 11 to 5. We will be sellingChorizos again this year to raise money for themonastery and for the nuns who live there. Theaddress of the monastery is 5714 S HolladayBlvd, Salt Lake City, UT.

Our club dancers, Utah’ko Triskalariak will also beperforming at noon. More information may befound at their website, http://bit.ly/13XBULE

For a free shuttle bus, you may park your car forfree at the following 5 locations:
