TRANSCRIPT
TEXAS MICROMAJOR gives Texas high school students the opportunity to earn an advanced academic recognition from The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin). The credit-based transition program is founded on three operating principles:
GUIDE Through academic support, students learn how to plan, pace and participate in high-quality, college-level courses while in high school.
PREVIEW Students identify and engage in an academic area of interest, helping them make informed decisions about their college focus and demonstrate college readiness.
PREPARE Firsthand experience with college-level courses gives students the tools and means to access college and succeed in the long term.
2
ABOUT The Texas MicroMajor initiative seeks to better prepare students for postsecondary success through aligning the academic experiences students are having in high school with college expectations. It provides students the opportunity to demonstrate college readiness in ways outside of traditional indicators such as class rank, grade point averages, and standardized test scores. Participation helps students build confidence and academic motivation, increasing their chances of enrolling in, successfully navigating, and completing college or university.
TEXAS MICROMAJOR REQUIREMENTS
To earn a Texas MicroMajor, students must:
• be currently enrolled in a Texas high school;
• register to participate on the Texas MicroMajor webpage;
• identify, select, and successfully complete four approved college-level courses offered in their high school, fulfilling the requirements for their intended Texas MicroMajor track;
• and submit their materials for verification.
Texas MicroMajor courses can be selected from any program that offers college credit on a student’s high school campus; however, at least two courses must be from UT Austin.

FAQ Why should I apply for Texas MicroMajor?
Completing Texas MicroMajor will help you become more competitive for success at UT Austin or other colleges and universities. In addition to standing out in college applications, you may be able to earn up to 12 hours of transferable credit, save in college tuition costs, and develop the skills necessary to excel in the workplace. Should you complete the Texas MicroMajor requirements, you will receive an advanced recognition from UT Austin, as well as a recognition cord that can be worn at high school graduation, school policies permitting.
What is the cost to participate in Texas MicroMajor?
There is no formal cost to participate; however, there may be fees associated with the courses you select, such as for textbooks and testing.
How do I know which academic track to choose?
You should select the track that best accommodates your academic interests. Texas MicroMajor is designed to help you preview an area of study that you may want to pursue in college. We encourage you to do some research on the types of courses associated with college and university majors that are appealing. High school counselors are a good resource to help with the selection process.
Are the courses listed in this catalog the only options I have to satisfy the Texas MicroMajor requirements?
No. The courses listed in the Course Catalog are just a few examples of the courses you might consider. You can select courses from UT Austin (OnRamps, Extended Campus, ChemBridge, Engineer Your World, SPURS, etc.), AP, IB, or Dual Credit. If you are unsure if a course will meet the requirements, please consult your counselor.
Can all the courses for Texas MicroMajor be from OnRamps?
Yes. However, we strongly encourage you to diversify your selections. This will give you a better sense of the different ways you may be asked to engage in college coursework in the future, and it could help inform what major you want to pursue.
What types of UT Austin courses can I apply toward the MicroMajor requirements?
Beyond OnRamps, UT Austin has Extended Campus, which offers an abundance of online courses that you may complete at your own pace. To learn more, please refer to the UT Extended Campus website using the following link: https://extendedcampus.utexas.edu/. You may also pursue

opportunities though programs like ChemBridge, Engineer Your World, and SPURS, if offered at your high school campus.
Who should I contact if they need help selecting courses?
We encourage you to review the selection of courses available at your high school and direct any questions regarding prerequisites, scheduling, or other high school-specific details to youracademic and/or guidance counselors.
What can I expect after completing Texas MicroMajor?
You will receive an email from the Texas MicroMajor team at the beginning of your senior year to verify the courses you have taken, and/or plan to take, to complete the requirements. If you complete the requirements for Texas MicroMajor prior to senior year, you should contact OnRamps Strategic Initiatives Coordinator Kyle Beasley ([email protected]) to go through the verification process early. Following receipt of all required documents, the Texas MicroMajor team will review and confirm that all requirements were met. This can take between two to four weeks. Once you have been verified and completion of the requirements is confirmed, you will receive, by email and mail, a recognition signed by the UT Austin Provost, as well as an official cord that can be worn at graduation.
Can I include Texas MicroMajor on a college application?
Yes. The UT Austin application includes a specific question about participation in Texas MicroMajor. For applications to other colleges and universities, you are encouraged to share the recognition to further highlight your academic achievements.
If I am still completing Texas MicroMajor requirements during my senior year, will I still receive the recognition in time to include it in my college applications?
Yes. Students who finish coursework for Texas MicroMajor in their senior year will still have the opportunity to receive the recognition. Should you have coursework still in progress, you will receive a formal letter indicating that you are on track for completion, as long as two of the four courses have been completed successfully. Once your successful completion of the requirements has been confirmed, you will be sent your official recognition from UT Austin and cord for graduation.
Is Texas MicroMajor only for students interested in attending UT Austin?
No. Texas MicroMajor can be included in applications to other colleges and universities, as it demonstrates college readiness and the ability to perform well in corresponding courses.
Does Texas MicroMajor give me a better chance of being accepted to UT Austin?
Texas MicroMajor does not guarantee admission to UT Austin. It does, however, give you the
