For years, students, faculty, staff and community have expressed the need for more space in the recreation center. To inform the development of the scope of this project, feedback was gathered from surveys, focus groups, open forums, Residence Hall Association, Student Senate, & Graduate School Senate. Additional data from peer institutions and national standards were incorporated as well. What are the highlights of the Hamel Recreation Center project? • Increased Fitness Space • 1/10 mile Suspended Track • Large Multi-Activity Court (MAC) – providing space for a wide range of activities • Wellness space & Instructional Kitchen • Additional Social and gathering space • Interior/Exterior renovations to existing facility. What is the total budget of the project? Total project funding: $35.5 million Expansion - $30 million Deferred Maintenance - $5.5 million What is the timeline for the renovation/expansion project? February 2015 - USNH Board of Trustees Approval April 2015 - Construction Begins Fall 2016 - Expansion Scheduled Opening December 2017 - Renovation Scheduled Opening Will the Hamel Recreation Center be open during construction?
