ABSTRACT

Pursuant t o the specifications of a r e s e a r c h contract

entered into in D e c e m b e r , 1983 with the National Aeronautics and

S p a c e A d m i n i s t r a t i o n (NASA), the Computer Science Departments o f

t h e U n i v e r s i t y o f Southwestern Louisiana and S o u t h e r n University

will b e w o r k i n g jointly t o address a variety of research and

educational issues relating to the u s e , b y non-computer

p r o f e s s i o n a l s , of some of t h e largest and most sophisticated

interactive information storage a n d retrieval systems currently

available at t h e present time.

O v e r t h e projected 6-8 year period of this research

c o n t r a c t , i t is expected that the following systems will be
