Using Zoom on an Apple Device

Note: These instructions will step you through how to download the Zoom app onto your Apple device

and point out the different functionalities of the Zoom app on an Apple device.

1. Log into your Apple device

2. Go to the App Store

3. Search for Zoom Cloud Meeting

4. Click on the Get option to download the Zoom Cloud Meetings app (It is free)

a. You can download the free app even if you don’t have an account on Apple account

5. The Zoom meeting shortcut will be installed on the device. Tap the Zoom app.

6. Click on the Sign In button using your Stratford login

7. Click on the SSO option

8. Enter in Stratford in the company domain field and press the enter key

9. Log in using your Stratford login credentials

10. Wait a few seconds and click on the open option - Open this page in “Zoom”? IF Zoom does not

launch, click on the Launch Zoom button

11. This option will take you into the Home Page

12. Using the icons you can:

a. Start a New (Instant) Meeting (Click on Start a Meeting button to host an instant

meeting. You will need to invite participants using the Participants option in the

meeting.

b. Schedule a Meeting by selecting options for each item and then tapping on Done

in the top right hand corner.

c. Join a Meeting option, you need to enter in the meeting id from an invite and

tap the Join button to be a participant in a Zoom meeting

d. Share Screen – to share your screen to a Zoom room Enter in the key or

meeting id form the Zoom Room invite and click OK

13. Using the options on the left hand side of the home page you can:

i. Click on chat option to create a new chat. You can use the search field to

search for a contact or tap on name to bring up a previous chat

1. Click on your own name to access your personal space where you draft

messages, or save files and links

2. Click on the new chat icon to start a new chat. Find a name in the

list in the right pane, type in the message and click on Send.

ii. Click on the Meetings option to check upcoming meeting, start the next

meeting, edit your personal meeting is information or send out an invite to a

meeting. Clicking on the Send invitation will allow send an email using Outlook

or copy the invite to use in an email

iii. Click on the Contact option to view contacts in zoom.

1. Click on Company Contacts to view Stratford Zoom contacts

2. Click on a name to have a video call, chat, free phone call or screen

share with that contact.

iv. Click on the Settings option to customize Zoom settings for your profile,

meetings, contacts, chat, general, or Siri shortcuts.

1. Click on to customize your profile; change you

photo, screen name, personal note, etc. You can also access your

profile to sign out of Zoom.

2. Click on to customize meeting settings; audio,

video, meeting controls so these features are set for all Zoom meetings.

3. Click on to see what who have made a contact

request that you can approve or deny

4. Click on to customize chat settings; notifications

and unread messages settings

5. Click on to customize sensitive content and

calling functionality

6. Click on to add shortcut phrase to Siri on Zoom

7. Click on to find out the version of Zoom, send

feedback, rate Zoom, and learn about Zoom’s privacy policy.

14. When you are done with Zoom, close the app down

a. The next time you tap on the Zoom icon you will be connected into the zoom client.

b. You can always click on Settings, your profile, and tap the Sign out option. This will then

force you to sign back into Zoom the next time you tap on the Zoom app.

Reminders about an Apple device:

An Apple tablet or phone will have less options

Zoom on Apple phone has a safe driving mode

Check out the audio before you host a meeting. Reviews have mentioned that the quality may

not be what they are advertising.

When using video, you may only see 4 people per screen depending on the size of your Apple

device. Under Meeting Settings you may want to set the option for Gallery view.

Always check out your device thoroughly before you use it. Your device may have more or less

options that what is being shown in this job aid.

Hosting a Zoom Meeting on an Apple device:

1. Icons will be at the top of the device. If you cannot see the icons, tap the screen to bring the

icons back to the screen.

2. The following icons will be available to you:

End Meeting – If you are the host

Audio – enable/disable audio

Video – enable/disable video

Share Content– access to items on your device, including a whiteboard

Participants

Access the Chat and Invite functionality from the Participants icon

More – which will allow additional functionality

o Record to the Cloud

o Meeting Settings

o Minimize Meeting

o Disconnect Audio

3. The Audio and Video options allow the user to enable or disable their functionality

4. Share Content provides access to apps on your device such as the following list. The

functionality is different than on a PC or MAC where the Share option will allow the host or

participant to share open windows. Note: the whiteboard functionality does exist here.

In the example below the host clicked on the Website URL option

This opens up a pop up where you can enter in the website you would like to share;

For the whiteboard, the icons will be on the bottom on the page. Same functionality

exists on all devices for the whiteboard option

5. The participants option will display all participants in the meeting, provide access to the chat

and invite option

6. The Chat option is available to chat to others in the meeting. Click on chat and type in your

message. Click Send for all to see the message

7. Click on the Invite option to invite participants via multiple options. Suggestion: Stratford

University has one Zoom Room in University Administration.

8. More option will provide the options to record the meeting, set meeting settings or disconnect

audio.

If you disconnect audio, a user has the ability to reconnect using one of the following

options:

9. End Meeting option will allow the host to end the meeting, all participants leave the meeting, or

leave the meeting. If the host leaves the meeting, another host will need to be in the meeting

to keep the meeting running.

10. As a host for a Zoom Meeting, I did not have access to the following icons:
