• m-learning is the use of mobile electronic educational technology in teaching and learning.
What is lesson study?
• Process of teachers working in teams to develop lessons to address an identified problem amongst learners. The developed lesson is taught by one of the teachers while others observe. The team discusses the taught lesson and make improvements.
Current Situation
• LESSON STUDY IS DONE “MANUAL/PHYSICALLY”
• EXISTING OPPORTUNITIES –TECHNOLOGY IN KENYA
• LESSON STUDY THROUGH M-LEARNING
• M-LEARNING IS AN OPPORTUNITY
KENYAN SITUATION-WHY M-LEARNING
• More than 80 per cent of the Kenyan population has access to a mobile phone.
• Almost all teachers have a mobile phone • Kenya has the highest bandwidth per person, the fastest
speeds ,and some of the lowest internet costs in Africa.• Kenya is already Africa's third largest knowledge economy
and the country leads the global mobile economy, with about 40 per cent of the country's GDP transacting through mobile phones every day.
• Kenya government's strategy to prioritize ICT learning and innovation ,with the aim of establishing Kenya as an ICT leader in the region
Forming the group
• With message broadcasting one can select or make a list of people in his/her contact that one wants to share educational materials/resources and create a broad based discussions on any subject or topic. Note that this can happen anytime anywhere.
Lesson implementation
• The identified teacher can teach and video tape the lesson and share through whats app where other teachers can observe and comment
