As they read they had to pull out defining characteristics of our first president and summarize their findings.

Students have also used wikispaces to create an online museum. Each student was responsible for completing research on an invention and its creator and creates a page in our “museum”.

Before we start . . .

Provide clear guidelines, rubrics and timeline for project.

Gather potential pictures, songs, websites for students (this will greatly cut down on “research” time).

Require a rough draft – simple sketch, storyboard, etc.

Have students create a daily task sheet – this will help them prioritize tasks and stay focused.

It is ok not to know everything about the program before you start. I usually learn just as much from the students as they do from me.
