• Cost effective to share products• Enhances learning by using dynamic tools that

the educator may not be able to create on his/her own

• Homogenizes learning for certain technical topics

• Allows for improvement with broad input• Products are reusable over and over again

Challenges to Using OER

• Quality assurance• Finding appropriate material• Economic sustainability of product

development• Rapidly changing technology which outdates

products quickly making produce obsolete• Attributing product correctly and the risk of

capturing copyrighted material inadvertantly
