I am already using a portal that is dedicated to online testing, is this any different from Artificial Intelligence E-testing?

A robust test and assessment IT tool must have the following 7 features:

1. Mark conceptual answers2. Provide infinite questions3. Facilitate self-paced learning4. Mark short essays and curve sketches5. Able to handle all subjects, ranging from

simple to complex questions.6. Provide test analysis and statistics7. Ownership (not subscription) based


To have these 7 features, you need a “Brain”

• Maple started out as a Maths engine in the 1970’s

• It is used in everyday life, like car power steering, scientific calculators, washing machines, clothes irons etc

• It is also powerful enough to be used in NASA research andin producing Animated films (for example, the Antz movie)

• Now Maple has been developed and evolved into other fieldsoutside of Maths, using the fundamental principle that incomputers, everything is read and written in Maths codes

What is ? (The Brain)


1. Mark the paper intelligently, when the student shows mastery of the concept even though the final answer is wrong.

For example (Maths question):Ali has 5 apples. Lina has 5 apples. How many apples dothey have altogether?

Correct answer is “10”Student’s answer is “5 + 5” (marked wrong)Student’s answer is “2 x 5” (marked wrong)These answers are marked wrong although the studentsgot their concepts right.


How do E-learning portals achieve this at present?

Many vendors manually key every single plausible answer to the question.

But students keep inventing new ways of solvingthe questions, so it becomes tedious and is not along-term practical solution.


2. Able to generate an infinite number of testquestions (like magic), so that the Question Bank becomesnon-exhaustive.

Notice that the questionshave a similar format BUTdifferent values? This isAUTOMATICALLY generated, NOT manually typed in.


A bug in E-learning portals:

Although some vendors claim to have this feature, students very often get repeated questions, even though they are supposed to be randomised, and soon run out of questions to try.


3. Allows customisation of intelligent self-paced learning tests.


4. Auto-Mark short answer essays and curve sketches.


5. Able to handle all subjects, ranging from simple to complex questions, so that all departments can use oneintegrated system.


6. Has an intelligence to provide useful tests analysis andstatistics for report generation.


7. Allows the school to retain ownership of materials that have been uploaded.

Problems faced by many schools when subscribing to LMS / E-learning portals:

• Annual subscription is costly.• When subscription is terminated, resources that have

been created and uploaded by teachers now belong tothe company. Retrieving them from the vendor is a tricky and sensitive process.
