Carestation Insights

Carestation Insights

Carestation™ Insights is a suite of cloud-based analytics applicationsdesigned to harness the power of connected GE HealthcareAnesthesia Carestation machines to help hospitals make data drivendecisions to deliver improved outcomes. Carestation Insights usesanesthesia machine data that is automatically captured by the GEIndustrial Cloud Gateway, stored in the GE Cloud, and visualizedwith the applications.Carestation Insights Agent Cost Dashboard enables retrospectiveanalysis of agent volume, flow rates, and costs on an individual casebasis as well as cumulatively across multiple rooms in an OperatingDepartment. Carestation Insights Checkout Dashboard provides ahistory of anesthesia machine checkout tests completed.Carestation Insights is not intended to control an anesthesia deviceor change any patient care parameters. Data is transferredunidirectionally from the anesthesia machine to the softwaredashboards for analysis. It is not used for diagnosis, treatment,mitigation, or prevention of disease states.

Intended use

The analytics dashboard uses anesthesia machine data, which isprocessed and stored on the Cloud, to enable retrospective analysisof anesthetic agent volume, flow rates, and costs on an individualcase basis as well as cumulatively across multiple rooms within theOperating Department. It is not intended to control the anesthesiadevice or change any patient care parameters. Data is transferredvia a unidirectional interface from the anesthesia machines to thesoftware dashboard for further analysis. This data is not used fordiagnosis, treatment, mitigation, or prevention of disease states. Thisapplication is not intended for use within the vicinity of the patient.This manual is intended for use by the customer and GE personnelonly.GE anesthesia machines and patient monitors must only beoperated by personnel trained and qualified in the administration ofgeneral anesthesia. Users should refer to the product User’sReference Manuals accompanying the equipment for completeoperating instructions, warnings, and cautions.

Performance

Carestation Insights dashboards are summaries of machine data thatmay be subject to error based on sampling, rate, and algorithms. Thedashboards should be used for operational purposes only, andpossible incoming data inaccuracy should be considered. Anesthetic

agent consumption volume is reported as an integer value inmilliliters with an accuracy of +/- 10% per case.

Accessing the system

Log into Carestation Insights.

From the Carestation Insights Agent Cost Dashboard screen theuser can select time option, viewing option, navigational feature, andnumber of entries to display.

1. Agent CostDashboard banner

Shows the user is in the Carestation Insights Agent Cost Dashboard application.

2. Time option Use this to choose query time by Date or Month. Month is only available for the AgentCost Dashboard option. The default is today’s date.

3. View option Use this to choose the type of data to view.Select Agent Cost to view operating room consumable data.Select Checkout to view anesthesia machine Checkout test history.

4. Navigation Use the page forward and page backward arrows to navigate the display entry datapages. Use the upward arrow to quickly navigate to the top of the page.

5. Page entries Use the Show field drop-down menu to select the number of entries to display per page.

Daily overview

Access Daily Overview from the Agent Cost Dashboard screen.Select Date, the following screen appears.

Use the calendar icon to view the calendar utility. Select the desiredday or month with the calendar utility.

The Daily Overview shows all operating rooms and the followingoperating room details:

• Reference name of the Anesthesia device.• Device ID• Number of cases.• Volumes of different anesthetic agents used.• Cost of anesthetic agents used.• Average fresh gas used in induction procedures and

maintenance cases.• Average anesthetic agent consumption.

Daily AveragesThis pane shows the average fresh gas used during inductionprocedures and maintenance cases for the selected date. Values areshown in liters per minute. This pane also shows the cost per caseand cost per minute of fresh gas used.

Daily TotalsThis pane shows the number of machines, number of cases, totalcost, and total anesthetic agents used for the selected date.

Total anesthetic agents used are displayed in bar graph format. Toview the numerical value for an agent, hover the mouse over thedesired agent bar.

Average Agent ConsumptionThis pane shows the average agent consumption per case and costper minute used on a selected date.

Monthly Totals to DateThis pane shows the following:

• Total number of cases month to date.• Total volume of anesthetic agents used month to date.• Total cost of anesthetic agents used month to date.

The last column in this pane shows the trends for the selected date.An up arrow indicates an increasing trend. A down arrow indicates adecreasing trend from the previous month.

Daily ViewThe Daily View pane is across the bottom of the Daily Overviewscreen.This shows the following details for each operating room:

• Reference Name of the anesthesia machine.• Device Identification number.• Number of cases.• Milliliter (mL) of anesthetic agents.• Cost.• Average induction liters/minute (Avg Ind L/min).• Average maintenance liters/minute (Avg Main L/min).

To change the order of items listed, select the column heading andclick to sort in ascending or descending order.

Exporting dataThe Daily View pane has an option to export the data in .csv format.

To export the data:

1. Select the Export icon on the top-right corner of the Daily Viewpane.

3. Select Export to export the data in .csv format. Select Cancel toexit without exporting.

Daily ORFrom the Daily View screen, the user can view details for anindividual operating room for the selected date. To do this, select theView Details button for the desired OR room.

There are several ways to customize the layout of the data. Onemethod is by filtering on specific data. Filtering is available byselecting an item in the drop-down menu for the following fields:

• Duration• AA

To view details of a case from the Daily Totals pane, hover themouse over a segment on the circle chart.

Monthly overview

Monthly AveragesThis pane shows the average fresh gas used during induction andmaintenance cases for the selected month. Values are shown inliters per minute. This pane also shows cost per case and cost perminute.

Monthly TotalsThis pane shows the number of machines, number of cases, totalcost, and total anesthetic agents used for the selected month.Total anesthetic agents used are displayed in bar graph format. Toview the numerical value for an agent, hover the mouse over thedesired agent bar

Average Agent ConsumptionThis pane shows the average agent consumption per case and costper minute used during the selected month.Monthly Totals to DateThis pane shows the following:

• Total number of cases for the specified month.• Total volume of anesthetic agents used for the specified month.• Total cost of anesthetic agents used for the specified month.

Checkout Dashboard

Use the Checkout Dashboard to view anesthesia machine Checkouttest history. The Checkout Dashboard provides history of eachanesthesia machine for Vent and Gas, Circuit Leak, Low P Leak, andAgent Delivery tests.To access the Checkout Dashboard, select Checkout from theselections in the top-right corner of the Carestation Insights screen.

If the anesthesia machine Checkout test was successfully run within24 hours of the selected date, a green circle is displayed.The number inside a red circle indicates the number of days sincethe last Checkout test was successfully run on a machine. Hover themouse over the circle to obtain detailed information on the previoustest date and time.To change the order of OR and Device ID# data listed, select thecolumn heading and click to sort in ascending or descending order.

AdministratorA user logged in as an administrator can perform the following:

• User Management• Configuration

User Management

The User Management function is accessible to the admin users.This function enables the user to add and maintain the useraccounts.

1. Select the user drop-down on the top-right corner of the screen.2. Select User Management from the drop-down menu.

To return to the Agent Cost Dashboard screen, select MainMenu on the top-right corner of the User Management screen.

Adding a new user

1. From the User Management screen, select Add new user.The New User screen shows.

2. Enter information in the Username, First name, Last name,Email, Phone, Location, User type, Password, and ConfirmPassword fields.Username may contain uppercase, lowercase, numbers, andsymbols. Note that symbols cannot be the last character.A strong password is required. Strong passwords are 8 to 16characters and must contain upper and lower case letters,numbers, and symbols. The password cannot contain theusername.

3. Select Add user.

Modifying a user

1. From the User Management screen, highlight the user.2. Select the Edit icon (pencil).

3. Select or deselect the Active check box to activate or deactivatethe selected user.

4. Select the account to be User or Global Admin from the Usertype drop-down menu.

5. Select the Save icon (disc) to save the updates. Select theCancel icon (X) to exit without saving the changes.

6. Select Main Menu to return to the application.

Resetting user passwordThis procedure assumes the user has obtained an email notificationfrom the facility administrator with a new User ID.

1. From the Carestation Insights screen, select Reset/Forgotpassword or go directly to:https://login.microsoftonline.com

Resetting user password completes here. Use the changedPassword to login to Carestation Insights Application.

Configuration

The Configuration function is accessible to the admin users. Thisfunction enables the user to perform the following:

• Set the cost of anesthetic agents• Set the date format• Set the currency• Set the language• Modify the machine reference name

Accessing ConfigurationTo access the Configuration function:

1. Select the user drop-down on the top-right corner of the screen.

2. Select Configuration from the drop-down menu.

Setting anesthetic agent costTo set the cost of anesthetic agents:

1. From the Configuration screen, highlight the anesthetic agentcost modification widget.

2. Select the Edit icon (pencil).

3. Edit the cost of the anesthetic agents.4. Select the Save icon (disc), to save the cost updates. Select the

Cancel icon (X), to exit without saving the changes.

The cost update of the anesthetic agents will be reflected in casesconducted after the update is done.

If there is more than one update to the cost of the anesthetic agent inany particular day, the cases conducted between the first update andthe last update of the day will reflect the last updated cost of theanesthetic agent.

Setting date formatTo set the date format:

2. Select the Edit icon (pencil).3. Select the date format from the Date Format drop-down list.

The updated date format is visible in the Time option of the "AgentCost Dashboard" and "Checkout Dashboard" banner.

Setting currencyTo set the currency of the anesthetic agents:

1. From the Configuration screen, highlight the currencymodification widget.

2. Select the Edit icon (pencil).3. Select the currency from the Currency drop-down list.

4. Select the Save icon (disc), to save the currency update. Selectthe Cancel icon (X), to exit without saving the changes.

5. Select Main Menu button, to return to the application.

The currency update is reflected in the Agent Cost Dashboard.

Setting languageTo set the language:

1. From the Configuration screen, highlight the languagemodification widget.

2. Select the Edit icon (pencil).3. Select the language from the Language drop-down list.

4. Select the Save icon (disc), to save the language update. Select

Currently, the Agent Cost and Checkout Dashboards supportsonly English.

Modifying machine reference numberThis option enables the user to assign a reference name to ananesthesia machine.

1. Hover the cursor over the Device Id to be modified, in theMachine Reference Name modification widget.

2. Select the Edit icon (pencil).

3. Modify the Machine Reference Name.4. Select the Save icon (disc), to save the updated name. Select

the Cancel icon (X), to exit without saving the changes.

5. Select Main Menu button, to return to the application.

The updates to the Machine Reference Name can be viewed in theAgent Cost and Checkout dashboards. The modified MachineReference Name reflects on the Agent Cost dashboard screen onlyfor the new cases conducted after the update.

Sample queries

How to show the most used anesthetic agent for a given month

1. Log into Carestation Insights.2. View the Agent Cost Dashboard screen, by selecting Agent

Cost.3. Select Month.4. Select the calendar icon.

The calendar utility shows.5. Select the desired month.

The Monthly Overview screen shows.6. View the Monthly Totals pane.

This shows the anesthetic agent usage for the selected monthby agent.

How to show when Low P Leak test was last run

A user may want to determine when a specific anesthesia machine’slast Checkout test was successfully run. The steps below show howto determine the last time Low P Leak test, or other specific tests,were successfully run on a particular machine.

1. Log into Carestation Insights.2. View the Checkout Dashboard screen, by selecting Checkout.3. Select Date.4. Select the calendar icon.

The calendar utility shows.5. Select the current date.

The Checkout Dashboard shows.6. View the data for a specific anesthesia machine. Hover the

mouse over the Low P Leak test result.Previous test date and time are shown.

How to download the user manual

1. Log into Carestation Insights.2. Select the user drop-down on the top-right corner of the screen.3. Select About Carestation™ Insights.
