GENERAL CONDITIONS
CODIC S.L. point out that the GUARANTEE is granted exactlyand specificially in the favour of the purchaser who ismentioned overleaf, covering the device for one year period,
starting from the purchase date. Under the conditions below:
A.- Free repair, in the workshops of our authorisedtechnical service for whatever damaged parts that is aresult of manufacturing defects, including the labournecessary for the said repair.
B.- The same does not include installation nor starting, norboth the cleaning or repair of parts due to natural wear andtear, maintenance or consumable parts, nor therepositioning or loss of accesory supplies of any kind.
C.- The costs of transporting the product and/or displacementof a technician are excluded from this GUARANTEE.
D.- In the case that the correspondent damage is a result ofmisuse or use by a non-authorised person, if it has beenrepaired by a non-authorized service dealer other than ourAuthorised Technical Services, if your serial number doesnot coincide with the described overleaf, or if it is provedthat it was sold before the date stated in this guarantee, thedevice in question will remain automatically excluded fromthe benefits of this guarantee. In this cases, thecorrespondent repair will be charged.
E.- It is essential the presentation of this GUARANTEE,together with the purchase invoicecompleted, and deliveredto our Authorized Technical Services the devices ispresented for repair.
CONDICIONES GENERALES
CODIC S.L. hace constar que la presente GARANTIA es otorga-da por la misma, concreta y específicamente a favor del compra-dor que se menciona al dorso, cubriendo el aparato relacionadodurante 1 año, contado a partir de la fecha de su correspondien-te compra por parte del usuario final, bajo las condiciones que seexpresan seguidamente.A.- Sustitución gratuita, en los talleres de nuestros ServiciosTécnicos Autorizados, de cualquier componenete averiado poreventual defecto de fabricación, incluida la mano de obra nece-saria para dicha sustitución.
B.- La misma no incluye las instalaciones ni puestas en marcha,así como tampoco la limpieza o sustitución de las piezas someti-das a desgaste natural, piezas de mantenimiento o consumibles,ni la reposición o suministro de accesorios sueltos de tipo alguno.
C.- Los gastos de transporte del aparato y/o desplazamiento deltécnico quedan excluidos de la presente GARANTÍA.
D.- En el caso de que la correspondiente avería obedezca a uso indevidoo a causas ajenas al normal uso del aparato, si el mismo hubiese sidoreparado o modificado por personas ajenas a nuestro Servicio TécnicoAutorizado, si su número de serie no coincidiese con el reseñado aldorso de este escrito, o si se comprobase que fue realmente vendidocon anterioridad a la fecha reseñada en esta GARANTÍA, el aparatoen cuestión quedaría automáticamente excluido de los beneficios de lamisma. En tales casos, indefectiblemente, la correspondiente repara-ción sería con cargo.
E.- Es indispensable la presentación de esta GARANTÍA, juntocon la factura de compra debidamente cumplimentada, a nues-tros Servicios Técnicos Autorizados, en el momento de entre-garles el aparato para su reparación,

3 PLACING THE ENTRY SLOT OF THE BANKNOTE SELECTOR AND CHANGINGINFORMATION LABELS / COLOCACION DE LA BOCA DE ENTRADA DEL LECTOR DE
BILLETES Y CAMBIO DE INSTRUCTIVO
3.1.- The entry slot of the banknote selector islocated on the front panel of the machine.3.1.- La boca de entrada del lector de billetes estásituado en la tapa frontal de la máquina.
3.3.- Using a 7 mm. spanner, loosen the nuts wichhold the entry slot of the banknote selector andremove it.3.3.- Con una llave de 7 mm. afloje las tuercas que sostie-ne la boca de entrada del lector de billetes y extráigala.
3.4.- Pull the red plastic piece firmly in the directionshown in the photograph and change the instructionlabel if necessary, then replace the red plastic piece.3.4.- Tire con fuerza del plástico rojo en la direcciónque se indica en la fotografía y cambie la etiqueta ins-tructiva si fuera necesario y vuelva a encajar el plásti-co rojo en la estructura.
3.5.- Replace the entry slot of the banknoteselector, remembering to replace the metalfastening frame.3.5.- Coloque nuevamente la boca de entradadel lector de billetes sin olvidar el marco de su-jección metálico.
3.6.- Tighten the nuts using a 7 mm.spanner.3.6.- Con una llave de 7mm. aprietelas tuercas.

4.1.- Unpack the banknote selector and removethe seal on the key, as shown in thephotograph.4.1.- Desembale el selector de billetes ydesprecinte la llave según se muestra en la foto-grafía.
4.2.- The two anchor supports of themain module should fit into the twoanchors in the entry slot (seephotographs).
4.2.- Los dos soportes de anclaje del módulo principal deberán encajarse en los dos anclajesde la boca de entrada. (observe las fotografías).

Calibration:
The NV4 validator has an internalcalibration system, with the exception ofthe two frontal sensors. To recalibrate theNV4, the unit must first be switched offand connected to the front part.
Now insert pieces of white paper (leter-quality paper / do not use photocopierpaper) in the curved entry until they touchthe drag wheels. The paper shouldoccupy the entire curved entry. Now keepthe selection button pressed down andpower up the unit with the selectionbutton held down.
Start the button when the channel lightsbegin to light up. When all the lights havecome on and gone off again in a row,remove the white paper. After a shortpause, the central part will light up andthe NV4 is recalibrated.

channel 5 and is only for emergencysituations. The purpose of this channelis, after programming it, to recognise andreject any new fraud which the validatorhas not recognised previously. The firstcheck the validator performs afterintroducing a banknote is to see wetherit coincides with the banknoteprogrammed in channal 5.This is a temporary solution and themanufacturer should be informed of thissituation as soon as possible.
The only operative difference betweenchannel 5 and the other channels is that,for this channel, the safety levels workin reverse. Thus level 1 is the highes andlevel 4 the lowest.
The NV4 validator has been designed tominimise any variation over time. This isachieved thanks to careful hardware andsoftware design. Nevertheless, over timeand depending on the environment, theNV4 may need to be cleaned or evenrecalibrated.
Cleaning:Press the red half-circle on the top of thevalidator to separate the front part. Nowthe banknote path can be cleaned. Cleanthe surfaces with a cloth moistened withwater or a soapy solution (such asdomestic cleaning fluid). NEVER use acleaner based on a solvent such as alco-hol, petrol, denatured or methylated al-cohol or PCB cleaner as these can cau-se irreversible damage. Take special carewith the lenses. If a lens becomesscratched, do no try to polish it as this

Set the switch to the «Run»position. Press the channel-selectionbutton repeatedly until the LEDcorresponding to the desired security levelcomes on. At this point, the selected LEDwill flash 4 times, indicating the end of theoperation. This operation should beperformed after changing from Teachmode to Run mode.
Programming channel 5:(Emergency Channel)Wile selecting a channel, you will seethat after channel 4, the selection willcause all 4 LEDs to light up. This is

If the Smiley detects that a banknote isnot very similar to the others, all thechannel LEDs will flash and the data ofthis reading will be ignored. If thebanknotes are introduced too fast, thechannel LEDs will flash and the data readwill also be ignored.
For most banknotes, this method will givegood results. With some banknotes, thechannel LEDs may flash frequentlyduring the programming process. This isdue to the fact that some banknotes havevery diferent characteristics, causingthem to be rejected by the validator. Oneof the most common reasons for thesediferences in characteristics is the ageof banknote. If this occurs duringprogramming, try the followingalternative method to improveacceptance.
Classify the banknotes in two piles, onewith new and barely used banknotes andthe other with old and worn banknotes.Programme the two piles in the samechannel as if they were different designsof the same banknotes (different faces).This involves double the work, but willresult in a good level of acceptance andwill prevent the banknotes from beingrejected during programming.
Security levels:The Smiley validator has three levels ofsecurity. The security level affects thestricness which banknotes are verified

Insert the banknotes in the «Smiley»validator, one after another, ensuring thatthe previous banknote has come out at theback before inserting the next one. Try toinsert the banknotes as straight andcentred as possible. Do not try to intro-duce the banknotes sideways or at anangle and ensure that no banknotes has adog-eared corner. This mayunnecesaryly distort the definition ofthe effectiveness of the validator.
Re-insert the banknotes with the same faceand orientation at least twice. Once thisoperation is finished, press the channel-selection button once. The correspondingLED will flash once to confirm that the dataon this face and orientation of the banknotehave been stored. To continue with the restof the faces (up to 4) follow the procedurejust described. Do not forget to press thechannel-selection botton each time a facehas been programmed.
When you are finished with the faces ofthe banknote, change the switch marketTEACH/RUN to the RUN position. Now thechannel lights will indicate the level ofsecurity established for the channel inquestion and, after 5 seconds, the LED willflash 4 times, indicating the end of theoperation. If you wish to change the levelof security, consult the following section,wich deals with this subject.
Note: Wille the banknotes are beingintroduced in the programming proces, the«Smiley» carries out a very basic test tosearch for possible operators errors. TheSmiley checks the lenght of the banknotesand performs a simple test to see if thefollowing banknotes are similar to the

-Banknotes with dog-eared corners
Order the banknotes so that they havethe same face and the same orientation.Do not mix different designs of the samebanknote, tyese must be programmed asdifferent faces in the same channel.
Remember that the quality of thebanknotes will affect the level of theiracceptance. Good programming resultsin a good level of acceptance.
Selecting a channel:
Locate switch marked TEACH/RUN.Locate button marked SELECTCHANNEL/SELECT SECURITY.Locate the four channel LEDs marked 1to 4.Ensure that the green power light is on.
The validator can accept up to 4 diferentbanknote values. For exemple, 1.000,2.000, 5.000 and 10.000 pesetas. For thisexemple, we will assume that a new10.000 pesetas banknote has just enteredinto circulation. Normaly, the lowest valueis programmed in channel 1 and theothers in ascending order. Thus, the10.000 pesetas banknote together withthe old one in channel 4 so that itrecognises both.
Change the Teach/Run switch to TEACH.Press the channel-selection button asmany times as necessary until thechannel-4 LED comes on.

Programming :Before commencing programming,check the list of approved banknotes inthe appendix. For security reasons, somebanknotes do not have all faces approvedfor programming. Banknotes wich are noton the same level (if at all) of approvedbanknotes. Users should take specialcare in complying with their ownrequirements in terms of operatingsecurity once the validator has beenprogrammed.
Before commencing programming, thevalidator must be powered up, have theVCOM signal present and inhibit signalsat LOW logical level.
A minimum of twenty banknotes isrequired, preferably thirty (some types ofbanknotes may require more, especiallyof more than one body prints them). Toobtain a good level of acceptance in thevalidator, the banknotes used forprogramming should be carefullychosen. As a guide, the packet ofbanknotes should contain a minimum of5 new banknotes and the rest in standardbanknotes, such as those in circulation.
Avoid using the following banknotes forprogramming:

Programming by PC:The NV4 validator can be programmed toaccept new banknotes in two differentways. The easiest and quickest way is touse the PC Download Software, whichcovers a number of legal banknotes. Touse this system, you will need a PC withWindows 95, 75 MHz Pentium or fasterand a serial port (Copyright Microsoft andintel). Programming can also be donemanualty using a selection of legal ten-der banknotes.
Manual Programming:To program a channel, it must firstbedeleted before reprogramming: otherwise, the information on the firstbanknote will menain in the memory as apermitted face.
Deleting a Channel:In the validator has already beenprogrammed manually, this informationwill be recorded in the memory even if itis reprogrammed. In this case, it isnecesary to eliminate the old informationfrom each channel. To delete the channel,set the «Teach/Run» switch to the«Teach» position. Select the channel tobe deleted by pressing the red channel-selection button as meny times asnecessary. SLEEP - The machine goes into sleep modeafter20 or 30 sec. to start-up . In thiscondition the consume is minimum(around 100uA).A flashing red light in the banknote readerindicates that machine is asleep butoperative. If any product runs out, the redlight associated with that product will alsoflash.AWAKE - The machine switches to awakemode when a button is pressed to acquirea product, in this condition remaining whilefollow operating.
ACQUIRING A PRODUCT10.1.- Select the desired product (at thispoint the machine switches to the awakemode).10.2.- The display shows the message«WAIT» for some seconds. The red ligthassociate a this product remainingintermittent, indicating the selection.10.3.- After this interval, the user can in-troduce the required amount and the dis-play shows the message «PRODUCT»,«PRICE» and «CREDIT».10.4.- In this moment the user can beintroduced the amount until completeprice or select an other product. Al despertar nuevamen-te en la máquina permanece el crédito res-tante de la operación anterior.- Si transcurren 4 minutos y el usuario no hacompletado el importe del producto seleccio-nado, la máquina dispensará un producto deinferior valor y guardará en memoria el cré-dito restante para la siguiente operación.- La máquina dispone de una serie demicrointerruptores-dip que pueden alterareste principio de funcionamiento, para másinformación consultar con este apartado.- En el caso de que TODOS LOS PRODUC-TOS ESTEN AGOTADOS o LAS PILAS ES-TEN A NIVEL BAJO DE CARGA, si la má-quina está «dormida» permanecerán todaslas luces apagadas. 11 TROUBLESHOOTINGSOLUCIONES A POSIBLES AVERIAS

- Compruebe que ambos portapilas estén enla posición adecuada (esta máquina funcio-na única y exclusivamente con ambosportapilas conectados).- Compruebe que el micro-interruptor dePuerta Cerrada realiza su función, esto esque al cerrarse la puerta, el micro-interrup-tor queda activado y alimenta la máquina(verificar: activar el micro-interruptor de Puer-ta Cerrada y comprobar que la máquina rea-liza la inicialización correctamente).

CHANGE PRICECAMBIO DE PRECIO14
Las máquinas de 2 columnas incorporan unarutina de cambio de precio del producto. Me-diante esta rutina se podrán cambiar cada unode los precios de la máquina sin necesidadde mando de lectura de datos.Para efectuar estos cambios se ha de proce-der de la siguiente forma:
1.- Con la máquina abierta localizar elmicrointerruptor «DIP» situado en el interiorde la tarjeta de control (CPU).2.- Mover el microinterruptor marcado comonº 4 a la posición de ON (estaba en OFF).3.- Cerrar la máquina. Aparecerán una seriede mensajes en el display, hasta que el dis-play se quede fijo mostrando el mensaje:«Cambio de precio», «Seleccione».4.- Seguidamente se ha de seleccionar el pro-ducto a modificar.5.- Una vez seleccionado, se activa ese pul-sador durante 5 segundos. Aparecerá en eldisplay el siguiente texto: «Nombre productoPrecio producto», «+/- factor».(Factor es elvalor que toma la máquina para incrementaro decrementar el precio del producto).6.- A continuación, con los pulsadores 1 y 2se incrementa o decrementa el precio del pro-ducto.7.- Una vez que se tiene seleccionado el pre-cio deseado, con los pulsadores 1 o 2 (indis-tintamente) pulsamos durante 5 segundos yel precio quedará grabado.8.- Abrir la máquina y colocar nuevamente elmicrointerruptor marcado como nº4 en la po-sición OFF.9.- La máquina ya estará lista para funcionaren modo normal.Nota: En el caso de que se desee modificarmás de un precio, del paso 7º se ha de saltaral paso 4º y así sucesivamente tantas vecescomo se desee.

Notes: In case it is wanted to modify morethan a price, of the step 7º you must jump tothe step 4º as many times as wanted.
