    Assembling

    Install the SIM or USIM card

    Open the cover to the SIM card slot on the side o1.the device.

    Insert the SIM or USIM card with the gold-2.

    coloured contacts acing down.

    Do not insert a memory card into the SIM cardslot.

    Close the cover o the SIM card slot.3.

    Charge the battery

    Beore using the device or the irst time, you must

    charge the battery.Use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables.Unauthorised chargers or cables can causebatteries to explode or damage your device.

    Connect the PC data cable to the USB power1.

    adapter and then plug the end o the PC data cableinto the multiunction jack.

    Connecting the travel adapter improperly maycause serious damage to the device. Any damagecaused by misuse is not covered by the warranty.

    Plug the USB power adapter into a power outlet.2.

    While the device is charging, the touch screenand the touch keys may not unction due to an

    unstable power supply. I this happens, unplugthe USB power adapter rom the power outlet orunplug the PC data cable rom the device.

    When the battery is ully charged, rst unplug the3.travel adapter rom the device and then rom the

    power outlet.

    To save energy, unplug the travel adapter whennot in use. The travel adapter does not have apower switch, so you must unplug the traveladapter rom the outlet to interrupt the powersupply. The travel adapter should remain close tothe socket when in use.

    Getting started

    Turn your device on and o

    To turn on your device, press and hold [ ]. I you turnon your device or the irst time, ollow the on-screeninstructions to set up your device.

    To turn o your device, press and hold [ ] and selectPower oOK.

    Follow all posted warnings and directions romauthorised personnel in areas where the use owireless devices is restricted, such as aeroplanesand hospitals.

    To use your device's non-network services only,switch to Flight mode.

    Keys

    Key Function

    Power/Lock

    Turn on the device (press and hold);Access the quick menus (press andhold); Lock the touch screen.

    Volume

    Adjust the devices volume.

    Menu

    Open a list o options available on thecurrent screen.

    Home

    Return to the idle screen; Open the listo recent applications (press and hold).

    BackReturn to the previous screen.

    Search

    In Idle mode, open the Googlesearch application; Open the searchinput window while using someapplications.

    Touch screen

    Your devices touch screen lets you easily select itemsor perorm unctions. Control the touch screen bytapping, tapping and holding, or dragging across it.

    Idle screen

    When the device is in Idle mode, you will see the idlescreen. From the idle screen, you can view indicatoricons, widgets, shortcuts to applications, and otheritems.

    The idle screen has multiple panels. Scroll let or rightto a panel o the idle screen. You can also select adot at the top o the screen to move directly to the

    corresponding idle screen.

    Indicator icons

    Indicator icons show the signal strength, device status,current time, and other inormation at the top o the

    screen.

    Shortcuts panel

    From the shortcuts panel, you can use shortcutmenus and access a list o notiications, such as newmessages, upcoming events, and processing status.

    Tap the indicator icons area at the top o the screenand drag your inger down to open the shortcutspanel. To hide the panel, drag the bottom o the listup.

    Access applications

    In Idle mode, select1. Applications to access Menumode.

    Scroll let or right to another menu screen.2.You can also select a dot at the top o the screen tomove directly to the corresponding menu screen.

    Select an application.3.

    Press [4. ] to return to the previous screen; Press

    the Home key to return to the idle screen.

    Access recent applications

    Press and hold the Home key to view the applicationsyou have accessed recently.

    Launch multiple applications

    Your device allows you to multi-task by running

    multiple applications at the same time.To launch multiple applications, press the Home keywhile using an application to return to Idle mode, andthen select an application to launch.

    Enter textYou can enter text by selecting characters on thevirtual keypads. You can also use editing options tocopy and paste text.

    You cannot enter text in some languages.To enter text, you should change the writinglanguage to one o the supported languages.When entering text, rotate the device to displaythe QWERTY keypad in a widescreen layout.

    Make or answer a call

    You can make a call by entering a phone number orselecting a number in your contact list. You can alsoaccess the call log to redial recently dialled numbers.

    Send and receive a message

    You can create and send text (SMS), multimedia

    (MMS), or email messages, and view or managemessages you have sent or received.

    You may incur additional charges or sendingor receiving messages while outside your homeservice area. For details, contact your serviceprovider.

    Connect to the internet

    You can connect to the wireless web by using theWLAN eature or mobile network connections. Openthe web application and browse web pages. You canbookmark your avourite web pages or use variousweb options.

    You may incur additional charges or accessingthe web and downloading media les. For details,

    contact your service provider.

    Activate the mobile tracker

    The mobile tracker eature helps you locate and

    recover your device. When someone inserts a new SIMor USIM card in your device, the mobile tracker eaturewill automatically send the contact number to yourspeciied recipients.

    Do not handle a damaged or leaking Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery

    For sae disposal o your Li-Ion batteries, contact your nearest authorisedservice centre.

    Handle and dispose o batteries and chargers with careUse only Samsung-approved batteries and chargers specically designedor your device. Incompatible batteries and chargers can cause seriousinjuries or damage to your device.

    Never dispose o batteries or devices in a re. Follow all local regulationswhen disposing o used batteries or devices.

    Never place batteries or devices on or in heating devices, such asmicrowave ovens, stoves, or radiators. Batteries may explode whenoverheated.

    Never crush or puncture the battery. Avoid exposing the battery to

    high external pressure, which can lead to an internal short circuit andoverheating.

    Protect the device, batteries, and chargers rom damage

    Avoid exposing your device and batteries to very cold or very hottemperatures.

    Extreme temperatures can cause the deormation o the device andreduce the charging capacity and lie o your device and batteries.

    Prevent batteries rom contacting metal objects, as this can create aconnection between the + and terminals o your batteries and lead totemporary or permanent battery damage.

    Never use a damaged charger or battery.

    Caution: Follow all saety warnings and

    regulations when using your device in restrictedareas

    Turn o your device where prohibited

    Comply with all regulations that restrict the use o a mobile device in aparticular area.

    Do not use your device near other electronic devicesMost electronic devices use radio requency signals. Your device mayinterere with other electronic devices.

    Do not use your device near a pacemaker

    Avoid using your device within a 15 cm range o a pacemaker i possible,as your device can interere with the pacemaker.

    I you must use your device, keep at least 15 cm away rom the

    pacemaker.To minimise the possible intererence with a pacemaker, use your deviceon the opposite side o your body rom the pacemaker.

    Position your device within easy reach. Be able to access your wirelessdevice without removing your eyes rom the road. I you receive anincoming call at an inconvenient time, let your voice mail answer itor you.

    Let the person you are speaking with know you are driving. Suspend calls

    in heavy trac or hazardous weather conditions. Rain, sleet, snow, ice,and heavy trac can be hazardous.

    Do not take notes or look up phone numbers. Jotting down a to do listor fipping through your address book takes attention away rom yourprimary responsibility o driving saely.

    Dial sensibly and assess the trac. Place calls when you are not movingor beore pulling into trac. Try to plan calls when your car will be

    stationary. I you need to make a call, dial only a ew numbers, check theroad and your mirrors, then continue.

    Do not engage in stressul or emotional conversations that may bedistracting. Make people you are talking with aware you are driving andsuspend conversations that have the potential to divert your attentionrom the road.

    Use your device to call or help. Dial a local emergency number in thecase o re, trac accident, or medical emergencies.

    Use your device to help others in emergencies. I you see an autoaccident, a crime in progress, or a serious emergency where lives are indanger, call a local emergency number.

    Call roadside assistance or a special, non-emergency assistance numberwhen necessary. I you see a broken-down vehicle posing no serioushazard, a broken trac signal, a minor trac accident where no oneappears injured, or a vehicle you know to be stolen, call roadside

    assistance or another special, non-emergency number.

    Proper care and use o your mobile device

    Keep your device dry

    Humidity and all types o liquids may damage device parts or electroniccircuits.

    When wet, turn o your device. Dry your device with a towel and take itto a service centre.

    Liquids will change the colour o the label that indicates waterdamage inside the device. Water damage to your device can void yourmanuacturers warranty.

    Do not use or store your device in dusty, dirty areas

    Dust can cause your device to malunction.

    Do not store your device on slopes

    I your device alls, it can be damaged.

    Do not store your device in hot or cold areas. Use your device at-20 C to 45 C

    Your device may explode i let inside a closed vehicle, as the insidetemperature can reach up to 80 C.

    Do not expose your device to direct sunlight or extended periods o time(such as on the dashboard o a car).

    Store the battery at -20 C to 45 C.

    Do not store your device with such metal objects as coins, keysand necklaces

    Your device may become deormed or malunction.

    I the battery terminals are in contact with metal objects, it may causea re.

    Do not store your device near magnetic elds

    Your device may malunction or the battery may discharge rom exposureto magnetic elds.

    Magnetic stripe cards, including credit cards, phone cards, passbooks,and boarding passes, may be damaged by magnetic elds.

    Do not use carrying cases or accessories with magnetic closures or

    allow your device to come in contact with magnetic elds or extendedperiods o time.

    Do not store your device near or in heaters, microwaves, hotcooking equipment, or high pressure containers

    The battery may leak.

    Your device may overheat and cause a re.

    Do not drop your device or cause impacts to your deviceThe screen o your device may be damaged.

    Do not use a fash close to the eyes o people or animals

    Using a fash close to the eyes may cause temporary loss o vision or damageto the eyes.

    Ensure maximum battery and charger lie

    Avoid charging batteries or more than a week, as overcharging mayshorten battery lie.

    Over time, unused batteries will discharge and must be recharged

    beore use.Disconnect chargers rom power sources when not in use.

    Use batteries only or their intended purposes.

    Use manuacturer-approved batteries, chargers, accessories

    and supplies

    Using generic batteries or chargers may shorten the lie o your device orcause the device to malunction.

    Samsung cannot be responsible or the users saety when usingaccessories or supplies that are not approved by Samsung.

    Do not bite or suck on the device or the battery

    Doing so may damage the device or cause explosion.

    I children use the device, make sure that they use the device properly.

    When speaking on the device:Hold the device upright, as you would with a traditional phone.

    Speak directly into the mouthpiece.

    Avoid contact with your devices internal antenna. Touching the antennamay reduce the call quality or cause the device to transmit more radiorequency than necessary.

    Hold the device with a relaxed grip, press the keys lightly, use special

    eatures that reduce the number o keys you have to press (such astemplates and predictive text), and take requent breaks.

    Protect your hearing

    Excessive exposure to loud sounds can cause hearingdamage.

    Exposure to loud sounds while driving may distractyour attention and cause an accident.

    Always turn the volume down beore plugging theearphones into an audio source and use only theminimum volume setting necessary to hear yourconversation or music.

    Always be aware o your surroundings to avoid injury to yoursel or others.

    Do not carry your device in your back pockets or around your

    Do not disassemble or puncture the battery, as this can cause explosionor re.

    Do not paint or put stickers on your device

    Paint and stickers can clog moving parts and prevent proper operation. Iyou are allergic to paint or metal parts o the product, you may experienceitching, eczema, or swelling o the skin. When this happens, stop using theproduct and consult your physician.

    When cleaning your device:

    Wipe your device or charger with a towel or a rubber.

    Clean the terminals o the battery with a cotton ball or a towel.

    Do not use chemicals or detergents.

    Do not use the device i the screen is cracked or broken

    Broken glass or acrylic could cause injury to your hands and ace. Take the

    device to a Samsung Service Centre to have it repaired.

    Do not use the device or anything other than its intended use

    Avoid disturbing others when using the device in public

    Do not allow children to use your device
