Common directions for using these matteboxes:

• To protect the fragile front of most prosumer cameras, this mattebox is notattached to the front of the camera. Therefore the mattebox is attached to thebase of the camera. Since all cameras are different, the mattebox support canbe adjusted in both the vertical and horizontal axis. Use the supplied “alignmentcard” as a tool to align the mattebox properly. A hexagonal key is also supplied.

• For extra reduction of flare, the patented Eyebrows are added. These internalFrench flags can be adjusted to the zoom position of the used lens by rotatingthe “eyebrow adjustment knobs”.

• To prevent light from entering from the rear side of the mattebox (and reflectingvia the filter in the lens), the hole in the rubber donut ring must match the frontdiameter of used the lens. Therefore the rubber donut rings are supplied invarious diameters. This ring can be exchanged by unscrewing(counterclockwise) the donut ring holder.

• The accessory shoe can be used to attach a camera light or a microphoneholder.

• For using a polariser or star filters the filter frames can be rotated.

• This mattebox also works in combination with Century Precision wide-angleadapters. In most cases a 3x3” filter will not be big enough, in this case a 4x4”filter is required.

• Some cameras have fixed microphones that are longer than the front of the lens(such as the Sony VX-1000/2000 or the Canon GL-1/XM-1 for example). Inthese cases using the original rubber sunshade will extend the lens far enough.Slide the mattebox backwards over the bars against the original sunshade, anduse a proper rubber donut ring. (see fit chart for VX-1000/2000 or Canon GL-1/XM-1).

• This mattebox is tested and approved on the following camera’s:-Sony: VX-1000, VX-2000, PD100, DCR-900TRV, PD-150, DSR-250, DSR-300en DSR-500-JVC: GY DV500, GY DV500E, GY DV550E and GY DV700E.-Canon: XL-1 (with 16X lens, 3X lens and the full manual 14X lens), GL-1/XM-1.

• Underneath the Camera base plate are ¼ “ threaded holes available forattaching tripod plates. (DS-MB44-00 only)

• The DV mattebox 15mm. #DS-MB44-00-15 is to be used directly on camera’sequipped with a standard 15mm. Lightweight support such as the MBS-100.

• The DV mattebox (DS-MB44-00 only) might not fit on some tripods. In thesecases a Tripod spacer ODS-MBTS-00 is required.

Mounting on individual cameras:

Please see the Fit chart on page 7 to find out which rubber donut ring, extra accessoriesand mounting holes are needed for your particular camera.

For DV Mattebox DS-MB44-00 only:

• Screw the camera pin and ¼” camera screw in the holes of the camera baseplate as shown in the fit chart.

• Mount the base plate under the camera with the ¼” camera screw.• Adjust the 12mm. bars to the proper vertical and horizontal axis. Use the

horizontal and vertical alignment adjustment screws to align the 12mm. bars. The center of the mattebox should be aligned with the center of the lens. Forchecking the proper alignment a “alignment card” is supplied. Slide the twoholes in the card over the two 12mm. bars and check by verifying if the printedcircles on the card are aligned with the lens of the camera.

• On some cameras the microphone is longer than the lens (and causes themattebox not to come close enough to the lens), in this case the original rubbersunshade should be used.

• Slide the mattebox over the 12mm. bars until the rubber donut ring can bepulled over the front of the lens. Secure with the length adjustment knob.

For DV mattebox 15mm. #DS-MB44-00-15:only:

• This mattebox fits directly on a camera equipped with a std. Lightweight 15mmmattebox support such as the MBS-100. Please make sure that the bars areproperly aligned.
