    Field Loss Light Illuminated

In order to help us provide you with quality support please have the following informationavailable when you call AB Drives Technical Support.

Drives Catalog/Bulletin number (Normally found on the inside of the front cover door)

Fuses 4F and 5F checked for blown condition

Measured field voltage and field current

Motor nameplate information: Field Voltage, Field Current, and Field resistance if given.

Measured Field resistance of the motor. NOTE: A motor problem is indicated if the measuredfield resistance is very high or very low.Field Resistance = Field Voltage/ (Field Current X 1.39)

    Motor field connections (F1, F2, F3 , and F4) series or parallel.

Additional Hints:Terminal 1 on the Main Control Board is the field loss input. The minimum dc voltage at terminalwith respect to terminal 24, common, is 0.9 volts dc. If this voltage is not present then eitherthere is no field current flow or Field Loss board is not operating. If the voltage is present butthe field loss is still indicated then the Main Control Board should be replaced.

    Thyristor Over temperature Light Illuminated

In order to help us provide you with quality support please have the following informationavailable when you call AB Drives Technical Support.

Drives Catalog/Bulletin number (Normally found on the inside of the front cover door)

    Additional Hints:

Two thermistors, 1Therm and 2Therm, are mounted on the armature scr heatsink assemblies.

The leads from the thermistors are connected to the main control board on terminals 33 and 34for 1Therm and terminals 35 and 36 for 2Therm. The normal resistance of the thermistors is50 K ohms at 25o C and decreases to 2603 ohms at 100o C.If the Thyristor Over temperature fault occurs intermittently a simple test would be to replace thetwo thermistors with 47K ohm, 2 watt resistors across terminals 33-34 and terminals 35-36. Ifthe fault clears and does not reoccur then the thermistors should be replaced. If the problempersists then the Main control board should be replaced.
