Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Targus Bluetooth Numeric Keypad with PC Multimedia Control. This keypad has a set of built-in media keys for easy wireless multimedia control. Its 33 feet / 10 meter operating range of Class II Bluetooth allows seamless connection, and is perfect for remote controlling your favorite media player.

1 Remove the battery cover from the back of the keypad.

2 Insert the supplied battery, making sure that the positive (+) and negative (-) ends match the polarity indicators inside the battery housing.

NOTE: WHEN REPLACING THE BATTERY, YOU MAY USE ALKALINE OR OTHER HEAVY-DUTY NIMH BATTERY.AVOID MIXING NEW AND USED BATTERIES IN A DEVICE.

Establishing a Communications LinkInitial Configuration

Before you can begin using Bluetooth connectivity on your computer and other Bluetooth devices, you must set up your Bluetooth connection correctly. The Targus Bluetooth Media Keypad is designed to work with the three major software stack (protocol) standards: WIDCOMM, Toshiba and Microsoft. Please check your computer’s documentation to see which software stack your computer has. Please contact your system vendor if your system does not support one of the following Bluetooth software standards.

Connecting with Bluetooth Software: WIDCOMM or Microsoft (XP & Vista)

1. Go to the Bluetooth Places icon located on your desktop or in the system tray and double click, then click Add a Bluetooth Device.

2. The Bluetooth Wizard screen will prompt. Please follow the on-screen instructions.

3. Please turn on the keypad and press the connection ID button located at the bottom of the keypad until the LED above the “Num Lock” blinks green light (discoverable mode). Click Next to continue pairing and the computer will search for the keypad.

4. The confirmation window will appear after the computer finishes detecting the Bluetooth devices. Select the Targus Keypad and click Next to continue. (There may be one or more different Bluetooth devices detected.) If the keypad is not detected, please make sure the power is on and in discoverable mode. Press Search Again to re-pair the device.

5. A passkey is required to pair the Bluetooth keypad. Please follow the on-screen instuctions to finish installing the device.

6. After the pairing keys are entered correctly, the computer will complete the installation. Please wait until the setup is finished.

Connecting with Bluetooth Software: TOSHIBA

1. Double click on the Bluetooth Manager icon in the system tray, and then click “Add New Connection.”

2. Please turn on the keypad and press the connection ID buttonlocated at the bottom of the keypad until the LED above the “NumLock” blinks green light (discoverable mode). Click Next to continuepairing and the computer will search for the keypad.

3. The computer will now search for the Bluetooth keypad and other Bluetooth devices. Please wait until the search is completed. Choose the device you wish to connect. There may be more than one Bluetooth device detected. Select Targus Bluetooth keypad and click Next to continue. If the keypad is not detected, please make sure the keypad is in discoverable mode and click Refresh.

4. The computer will begin connecting with the keypad.

5. An authentication is required for pairing the device, and a dialogue will appear. Please correctly enter the passkey using the remote keypad to continue setting up the device.

6. The connection is established and setup is complete. The keypad is ready to use. If the connection is not successful, please click Back and search the device again. You may want to continue to add other Bluetooth devices or close the window.

What do I do if the keypad does not work?

• Make sure that the polarity of the battery is correct. The positive (+) and negative (-) ends must match the positive (+) and negative (-) connections in the battery housing.

• Make sure you have established a communications link. See “Establishing a Communications Link.”

What do I do if the response time of the keypad is slow or it intermittently stops working?

• Increase the distance between the receiver and the base units of other wireless devices.

• Replace the battery.

Herstellen der Übertragungsverbindung

Anfangskonfiguration

Bevor Sie die Bluetooth Verbindungsfähigkeit an Ihrem Computer und anderen Bluetooth Geräten benutzen können, muss die Bluetooth Verbindung korrekt eingerichtet werden. Das Bluetooth Media Keypad von Targus unterstützt die drei größten Software-Stack (Protokoll) Standards: WIDCOMM, Toshiba und Microsoft. Prüfen Sie die Dokumentation Ihres Computers, um sich über den Software Stack Ihres Computers zu erkundigen. Wenden Sie sich bitte an Ihren Systemanbieter, wenn Ihr Computer keinen der genannten Bluetooth Software Standards unterstützt.

• Erhöhen Sie den Abstand zwischen dem Empfänger und den Basisstationen anderer schnurlosen Geräte.

• Wechseln Sie die Batterien.

Establecer un enlace de comunicación

Configuración inicial

Antes de empezar a usar la conectividad Bluetooth en su ordena-dor y otros dispositivos Bluetooth, usted debe instalar su conectivi-dad Bluetooth correctamente. El keypad multimedia Bluetooth Targus está diseñado para funcionar con las tres principales normas (protocolo) de pila de software: WIDCOMM, Toshiba y Microsoft. Por favor, compruebe la documentación de su ordena-dor para ver cuál de las pilas de software tiene su ordenador. Por favor, contacte al vendedor de su sistema si su sistema no soporta una de las siguientes normas de software de Bluetooth.

Établissement d'un lien de commu-nication

Configuration InitialeAvant de pouvoir commencer à utiliser la connectivité Bluetooth sur votre ordinateur et sur d’autres dispositifs Bluetooth, vous devez établir votre connexion Bluetooth correctement. Le Pavé numérique multimédia Bluetooth de Targus est conçu pour fonctionner avec las trois normes principales de logiciels (protocoles) : WIDCOMM, Toshiba et Microsoft. 5. Une authentification est exigée pour coupler le dispositif et un dialogue apparaîtra. Veuillez entrer correctement la clef de passe utilisant le clavier à distance pour continuer l’installation du dispositif.

6. La connexion est établie et l'installation est complète. Le clavier est prêt à utiliser. Si la connexion n'a pas réussi, veuillez cliquez sur « Arrière (Back) » et recherchez le dispositif de nouveau. Vous pouvez vouloir continuer à ajouter d'autres dispositifs Bluetooth ou fermer la fenêtre.

Que fais-je si le clavier ne marche pas ?

• Assurez-vous que la polarité des piles est correcte. Les bouts positifs (+) et négatifs (-) doivent correspondre aux contacts positif (+) et négatif (-) dans le compartiment des piles.

Instaurazione di un collegamento di comunicazione

Configurazione iniziale

Prima di iniziare ad utilizzare il servizio di connettività Bluetooth sul computer e altri dispositivi Bluetooth, è necessario impostare la connessione Bluetooth correttamente. La Tastiera Multimediale Bluetooth Targus è progettata per il funzionamento con tre dei maggiori standard di protocolli software: WIDCOMM, Toshiba e Microsoft. Controllare la documentazione del computer per vedere quale protocollo software il computer supporta. Contattare il rivenditore del sistema se il sistema non supporta uno dei seguenti standard di software Bluetooth.

1. Andare sull'icona del Bluetooth situata sul desktop o nella barra delle applicazioni e fare click due volte su di essa, poi cliccare Aggiungi dispositivo Bluetooth.

Premere Cerca di nuovo per ri-sincronizzare il dispositivo.

5. È richiesta una passkey per sincronizzare la tastiera Bluetooth. Seguire le istruzioni sullo schermo per terminare l'installazione del dispositivo.

5. È richiesta un'autenticazione per sincronizzare il dispositivo e comparirà una finestra. Inserire correttamente la passkey utilizzando la tastiera remota per continuare a impostare il dispositivo.

6. La connessione è stabilita e l'installazione è completata. La tastiera è pronta all'uso. Se la connessione non ha successo, fare click su Indietro e cercare di nuovo il dispositivo. È possibile continuare ad aggiungere altri dispositivi Bluetooth o chiudere la finestra.

Cosa fare se la tastiera non funziona?

• Controllare che la polarità delle batteria sia corretta. I poli positivo (+) e negativo (-) devono rispettare i collegamenti positivo (+) e negativo (-) nello scompartimento della batteria.

• Controllare di aver stabilito un collegamento. Vedere "Instaurazione di un collegamento di comunicazione."

Cosa fare se il tempo di risposta della tastiera è lento o funziona a intermittenza?

Een communicatieverbinding makenInitiële configuratie

Alvorens u gebruik kunt beginnen te maken van uw Bluetooth connectiviteit op uw computer en overige Bluetooth apparaten, moet u eerst uw Bluetooth verbinding juist instellen. Het toetsen-bord van Targus Bluetooth Media is ontworpen om te kunnen functioneren met drie grote software stack (protocol) normen: WIDCOMM, Toshiba en Microsoft. Controleer de documentatie van uw computer om vast te stellen welke software stack uw computer heeft. Neem contact op met uw systeemverkoper als uw systeem geen van de volgende softwarenormen van Bluetooth ondersteunt.

Aansluiten met Bluetooth Software: WIDCOMM of Microsoft (XP & Vista)

1. Ga naar het icoontje Bluetooth Places op uw desktop of in het systeemvak en dubbelklik, en klik vervolgens op Bluetooth apparaat toevoegen.

4. Het bevestigingsvenster zal verschijnen nadat de computer de Bluetooth apparaten gedetecteerd heeft. Selecteer het Targus toetsen-bord en klik op Volgende om door te gaan. (Er zijn mogelijkerwijs verschillende Bluetooth apparaten gedetecteerd.) Als het toetsenbord niet gedetecteerd is, controleer dat het apparaat is ingeschakeld en in de detectiemodus verkeert. Druk op Opnieuw zoeken om het apparaat opnieuw te paren.

5. Er wordt een toegangssleutel vereist om het Bluetooth toetsenbord te kunnen paren. Volg de instucties op het scherm om het installeren van het apparaat te beëindigen.

6. Nadat de paarsleutels juist zijn ingevoerd, zal de computer de installatie voltooien. Wacht totdat het instellen beëindigd is.

5. Er wordt een authenticatie vereist om het apparaat te kunnen paren, en er zal een dialoogvenster verschijnen. Voer de toegangssleutel juist in door gebruik te maken van het afstandsbedieningstoetsenbord om door te gaan met het instellen van het apparaat.

6. De verbinding is gemaakt en de instellingen zijn voltooid. Het toetsenbord is gereed voor gebruik. Als de verbinding niet goed is, klik op Terug en zoek opnieuw naar het apparaat. U wilt mogelijkerwijs verdergaan om andere Bluetooth apparaten toe te voegen of het venster sluiten.

Wat doe ik als het toetsenbord niet werkt?

• Controleer of de polariteit van de batterij juist is. Het positieve (+) en negatieve (-) uiteinde moeten overeenkomen met de positieve (+) en negatieve (-) aansluitingen in de batterijbehuizing.

• Controleer of u een communicatieverbinding to stand hebt gebracht. Zie “Een communicatieverbinding maken.”

Estabelecendo um link de Comunicações

Configuração Inicial

Antes de você poder usar a conectividade Bluetooth no seu computador e outros aparelhos Bluetooth, você precisa configurar corretamente sua conexão Bluetooth. O Teclado Targus Bluetooth Media é projetado para funcionar com os três principais padrões de software stack (protocolo): WIDCOMM, Toshiba e Microsoft. Verifique a documentação do seu computador para ver qual software stack (protocolo) seu computador tem. Entre em contato com o fornecedor do seu sistema caso este não suporte um dos seguintes padrões de software Bluetooth.

Conectando com Bluetooth Soft-ware: WIDCOMM ou Microsoft (XP & Vista)

1. Vá até o ícone Bluetooth Places localizado no seu desktop ou na bandeja do sistema e clique duplo, depois clique Adicionar um Dispositivo Bluetooth Device.

2. A tela do Assistente Bluetooth vai aparecer. Siga as instruções da tela.

3. Ligue o teclado e pressione o botão de ID da conexão localizado na parte debaixo do teclado até que o LED acima de “Num Lock” pisque em verde (modo descoberto). Clique Próximo para continuar o pareamento e o computador irá procurar o teclado.

4. A janela de confirmação irá aparecer após o computador finalizar a identificação dos dispositivos Bluetooth. Selecione o Teclado Targus e clique Próximo para continuar. (Pode haver um ou mais dispositivos Bluetooth diferentes detectados.) Se o teclado não for detectado, assegure-se de que a energia está ligada e no modo descoberto. Pressione Buscar Novamente para re-parear o dispositivo.

5. Uma senha é exigida para parear o teclado Bluetooth. Por favor, siga as instruções da tela para finalizar a instalação do dispositivo.

5. Uma autenticação é necessária para o pareamento do dispositivo, e uma caixa de diálogo vai aparecer. Digite corretamente a senha usando o teclado remoto para continuar configurando o dispositivo

6. A conexão está estabelecida e a instalação está completa. O teclado está pronto para o uso. Se a conexão não for bem sucedida, clique em Voltar e procure novamente o dispositivo. Você pode quere continuar e adicionar outros dispositivos Bluetooth ou fechar a janela.

• Certifique-se de que a polaridade das baterias está correta. Os terminais positivo (+) e negativo (-) devem combinar as conexões positiva (+) e negativa (-) no compartimento da bateria.

• Certifique-se de ter estabelecido um link de comunicação. Veja “Estabelecendo um link de Comunicação”.

O que eu faço se o tempo de resposta do teclado é lento ou pára de funcionar continuamente?

• Aumente a distância entre as unidades do receptor e da base de outros dispositivos wireless.
