Multi-Factor Authentication
Associated Bank requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for all clients creating Wire Transfers through
online banking or by calling the Wire Department. This guide outlines the types of MFA available to clients
and directions on how to setup MFA for Wire Transfers.
Business and Commercial Clients utilizing Associated Connect
Business and Commercial banking clients who process Wire Transfers through Associated Connect® will
continue to use the same MFA security token utilized today. Associated Connect clients who process wires online
DO NOT need an additional token to complete a phone-in Wire. Please review the Wire Upgrade landing page
for further details.
Mobile Token Installation and Activation for Phone-in Wires
Choosing to use a mobile token for authentication requires the installation and activation of the Okta Verify
application on your mobile smart phone device. The mobile token is supported on Apple and Android products
that are:
• Android 4.0 and higher
• iOS 7.0 and higher
Access to both a mobile device and a computer is required for this initial setup process. From the App Store or
Google Play Store, download the Okta Verify Application onto your mobile device. This app is published by
Okta, Inc.

You will receive an auto generated email from the Associated Bank Customer Gateway email address.
([email protected]) After the Okta Verify application is installed, the following
steps must be completed within seven days on a computer to activate your mobile token.
1. Open your Okta Verify email received from Associated Bank on your computer. Select Activate
Account.

2. You will be directed to the Associated Bank Customer Gateway homepage. Here, you will be asked to
create a password for your Okta Account. Create a password, based on the requirements noted below.
Once you create your password, re-enter your password to verify.
3. It is recommended that you setup SMS or Voice Call for resetting your password or unlocking your
account. Select the Add Phone Number Icon.

4. A dialogue box will appear where you will be asked to select the Country of your phone number
(defaulted to the United States) and your phone number. Select Send Code when complete.
5. If you select a Voice Call verification, you will also be asked to enter an extension. If you have a
phone extension, please enter that extension number. Select Call and the phone number provided will
receive a phone call.

6. You will receive a six-digit verification code. Enter the code and select Verify. Do not share this code.
7. Once your code is verified, you will receive a message noting that your phone number was
successfully verified. Select Done to complete your setup.
8. Once you have created your password and completed your phone verification set up, select Create My
Account at the bottom of the page to continue.
Note: At this point, if your passwords do not match or do not meet the password requirements, you
will receive an error message.
9. You will be directed to the Okta Verify page to setup multifactor authentication. Okta Verify will
automatically be selected for you. Select Configure factor.

10. Select your device type; iPhone or Android.
11. If not previously done, download and install Okta Verify on your mobile device from the Apple App
Store or the Google Play Store. Select Next.

12. Launch Okta Verify on your mobile device.
13. The Okta Verify App will open and welcome you to Otka Verify. Select Get Started.
14. Okta Verify will introduce you to the Application. Select Next.
15. Add the Associated Bank Gateway as an account to your Okta Verify app. Select Add Account in the
Okta Verify app on your mobile device.

16. Select your account type. For Associated Bank MFA, select Organization.
17. You will be asked to verify that you have received a QR Code. You will have received a QR code
through the Associated Bank Gateway Portal, select Scan a QR Code.

18. Scan the Okta Verify QR barcode shown on your computer with your mobile device.
19. Your QR code will expire if not scanned within 10 minutes. Select Refresh Code to receive a new
code if needed.
20. If prompted, allow the app to access your camera on your mobile device to scan the provided image.
21. Hold your mobile device up to your computer and capture the QR Code. Note, it will take a few
moments to capture the image.
22. Once the QR code is captured, you will be prompted to allow push notifications. Select Allow.

23. Your account will be added.
24. Select Done at the bottom of your mobile device.

25. You will receive an email message confirming that you are now enrolled in Okta Verify and your
account is now active.
26. By selecting the Carrot Icon, you can view your account details.
27. Here you can manage your notifications, Okta Verify accounts and make any changes necessary,
including Managing Push Notifications, Renaming an Okta Account or Deleting an Okta
Account.
