Read through these instructions fully before commencing installation.LocatetheIXLEcoVentfloinaccordancewiththerequirementsofthecurrentAustralian/NewZealandWiringRulesAS/NZS3000relatingtodampsituations,oraccordingtoapplicableWiringRulesforinstallationsoutsideofAustraliaandNewZealand.ThisappliancehasanIPX4ratingwhichmeansitissuitableforZone1installationsandcanbemounteddirectlyaboveabathorshowerrecess.Thisunitisfittedwithacordandplug,however,anyinterconnectingwiringandswitchesusedmustbe fitted by a licensed electrician.Switchesandothercontrolsmustnotbelocatedwheretheycanbetouchedbyapersoninthebath orshower.Warning:• Donotusethisapplianceforfunctionsotherthanthosedescribedinthisuserguide.• Afterremovingtheappliancefromitspackaging,ensurethatitiscompleteandundamaged. Do not allow insulation material to rest against the sides or top of the Ventflo unit when installed.

Ventilation RequirementsSafety cont.
Formaximumefficiencyandfanperformancethereareafewkeypointstokeepinmindwheninstallingyour IXL Eco Ventflo exhaust fan.
SufficientairinletintoroomSteamwillonlyberemovedifthereissufficientflowof air through the room. Ensure generous inlets exist throughwindows,ventsorunderthedoor.Airflowpathfrominlettofanshouldideallypassoverthesteamsources.(SeeFig1.)
AdequateventilationinroofcavityItisessentialthatthereisadequatespacewithinthe roof cavity so that exhaust air from the fan can dissipate.Wherespaceisrestricted,useFig.3asaguidetominimumrequirementsforadequateventilation.Theroofcavityitselfshouldbewellventilatedtooutside so that moist air can be removed. Local buildingcodesmayrequireflueingtooutsidethroughroofasperFig.4(page7)forflatroofinstallation.
WhereventilationspaceisrestrictedThisproductisnotrecommendedforinstallationbetweenfloorsofmulti-storeydwellings,orwherespacewithintheroofcavityisseverelyrestrictedandaflueasperFig.4cannotbefitted.IXLhasotherVentilationproductsavailablethatareparticularlysuitedtoinstallationsbetweenfloorsorwherespaceisrestricted.ContactyournearestIXLServiceCentreon the numbers located on the back of this booklet.

• Iftheappliancedoesnotfunctioncorrectlyordevelopsafault,contactSampfordIXLimmediately.• Shouldtheappliancebedroppedorsufferaheavyblow,haveitcheckedbyanauthorisedserviceagentforIXLproducts
• Theelectricalsystemtowhichtheapplianceisconnectedmustconformtoapplicablestandards.• Theelectricalpowersupply/sockettowhichtheapplianceistobeconnectedmustbeabletoprovidethemaximumelectricalpowerrequiredbytheappliance.Ifitcan’tdothis,contactaqualifiedelectriciantomakethenecessarymodifications.
• Switchofftheapplianceattheinstallation’smainswitch:a)iftheappliancedoesnotfunctioncorrectly;b)beforecleaningtheoutsideoftheappliance;c)iftheapplianceisnotgoingtobeusedfor any length of time.
• Theroommusthaveanadequatesourceofreplacementairforthisappliancetofunctioneffectively.Moreover,ifthereisanynon-sealedcombustionbasedappliancesuchasawaterheater,gasstove,etc.inthesameroom,airreplacementmustbesufficientforallappliancestoworkeffectivelytogether.

Clearances
Allappliancesmustbemountedsothatthelowestpointisatleast2.1mabovethefloor.TheIXLEcoVentfloisdesignedtofitaceilingcavitywithaminimum height of 215 mm (10324) & 260 mm (10326)wheninstalledinawellventilatedroofcavity. Where ventilation is restricted, these heights should be increased by a minimum of 25 mm. This willallowforthebackdraughtshutterstoopenfullywhentheunitisinoperation.Additionally,aminimumof40mmclearanceisrequiredbetweenthesidesofthefanandanyadjoiningpartsoftheroofstructure,suchaswalls,joistsorinsulationbatts.

Electrical Requirements
Flat Roof Installations
Seethewiringdiagram(Fig.5)forsupplyrequirementsandmaximumloadingsforeachmodel.Fansmaybeconnectedtoalightingpowercircuitifloadingpermits.Wiringofthewallswitch(notprovided)andsocketoutletinroofcavitymustbecarriedoutbyaregisteredelectrician.ThewallswitchshouldbelocatedinaccordancetheWiringRulesAS/NZS3000.Itmustnotbeinstalledwhereitcanbereachedbyapersoninthebathorshower.
Wheninstallingintoaflatroofwithinsufficientclearance,orwhereceilingcavityventilationisrestricted, an external venting duct must be installed. Use Fig. 4 as a guide to minimum external outlet requirements.IMPORTANT:Donotattachtheducttothebodyofthefan.Allowfor10-20mmminimumgapbetweenthe fan and the end of the duct. The duct should have a diameter of at least 235mm (10324) & 290mm (10326).

Important considerations before installing• Joists,beamsandraftersshallnotbecutornotchedtoinstalltheappliance.• ThisunithasanIPX4ratingwhichmeansitissuitableforZone1installationsandcanbeinstalleddirectlyaboveashowerorbath.
• Fortheexhaustfantoworkefficiently,replacementairofavolumeequivalenttowhatisbeingextractedmustbeabletoentertheroom.Ingeneralthisairwouldbedrawnunderthedoororthroughaslightlyopenwindow.Iftheroomisairtightthefanwillfunctionpoorly.
• Thisproductisdesignedforinstallationinflatceilingonly.Donotmountitonaslopingceiling orverticalwall.

1. Locatingtheunit–Beforecommencinganycutting,checkintheceilingspacethattherearenoobstructionssuchasceilingjoistsandthatthere is sufficient clearance for the housing. Checkthattheelectricalwiringcanberoutedfromthewallswitchestothemountinglocation.
2. Preparetheceiling–Usingthetemplateprovidedonpage15,marktheceilingwithapenciloutlineandcutouttherequiredhole(10324needs244mm dia. & 10326 needs 294 mm dia. hole).
3. Remove the grille.4. Plugthefanintothepowerpoint.5. Ensurethatthemountingclipsareintheclosedposition,theninsertfanintoceilingcutout.
6. Usingascrewdriver(orabatterydriverwithalowtorquesetting)partiallytightenthescrews. Thiswillmovethemountingclipsintotheopenpositionandholdtheunittotheceiling.
7. Rotatetheunitsothatthegrilledirection linesonthebodyarealignedwiththewalls. Theselinesshowtheorientationofthefascia grillewheninstalled.
8. Tightenthescrews.Donotovertightenasthiscandamageplasterboard.
9. Fitgrilleontounit.Oncefittedthegrillecanbeadjustedtobetteralignwiththewalls.

1. Turnthepowerswitchon/offtomakesuretheunitruns2. Runningthefancanexhauststeamandodoursquicklyandefficiently.
Note:Shutoffpowerurgentlywhenanyabnormalitiesoccurinoperation.ThencallalicensedelectricianorIXLservicepersonforinspectionandnecessaryservicework.Donotinsertfingersorthinbarsintothegrillewhentheunitisoperating.Thiscouldcauseharmtoyourselfandtheappliance.Theunitmustnotbeinstalledinaplacethatsuffersfromseverewaterleakage.
