Introduction

Dear streetfootballworld network members,

Welcome to the streetfootballworld website user guide! This guide will teach you everything you need to know about using our website, from changing your network member profile, to uploading events and blog posts, to posting topics on the discussion forum.

As you can see, this is no ordinary website. We have not only created it as part of streetfootballworld’s external communications, but as an interactive tool to be used by you, our network members. It is meant to serve as the following:

1) A tool for communication between network members. 2) A way for you to increase your organisation’s overall visibility. 3) An extensive collection of resources on the field of social change through football.

We want you to be able to share as much information as possible with other network members and with the general public, which is why we encourage you to use the site as you would your own communications channels.

This guide will not only inform you on how to interact with the site, but how to use it as effectively as possible to communicate with your fellow network members, to increase your visibility, and to strengthen your knowledge about social change through football.

If you have any further questions, comments, or general feedback, please feel free to contact us. We would love to hear from you!

Sincerely,

The streetfootballworld team

streetfootballworld staff and network members at the 2012 General Assembly in Lyon.

Getting started

Each streetfootballworld network member has their own profile on the website, which they can modify and update by using their personalised content manager account.

When we created the website, we made one account for each network member, with log in information corresponding to our main contact person from the organisation.

Each content manager has editorial rights for everything in this guide. However, if you would like to add additional staff member accounts for staff from your organisation, please send us an email at [email protected].

To change your password, click here and enter your email address.

You will then receive an email from us with a link. Click on the link, enter your new password and make sure to save this information!

After logging in, you will be taken to your personalised network content administrator page, which will give you the latest content from the streetfootballworld network that is most relevant to your organisation. From this page you can do the following:

• Get the latest updates from streetfootballworld and network members• Publish content • Viewandedityourprofile• Review your latest posts

Please note:streetfootballworld reserves the right to change, modify, or delete any content that is uploaded to the streetfootballworld website. This site represents all streetfootballworld network members and, as such, any inappropriatecontentwillreflectpoorlyonthenetworkasawhole.

Helpful hints

The streetfootballworld website is another channel through which you can showcase your organisation’s work, enabling you to keep other network members up-to-date on your activities and to increase your overall visibility. Here are a few tips to make sure your content is powerful and engaging!

• When should you blog?We would like you to keep us, other network members and the public informed about anything interesting that is going on with your organisation. This includes events that you have organised, collaboration between your organisation and streetfootballworld partners or other network members, any awards you receive, or any new thoughts on how football can be used for social change. We hope to see at least one blog entry per month by each network member.

• Who, what, when, where and why? Remembertoaskyourselfthesefivequestionswhenpostingblogsorevents:

Who: Who took part in the event, won an award, wrote an article, etc.?What: What was the activity or event about? When: Make sure to include the date and time (especially for events).Where: Make sure to include where events happened or where they will be taking place. Why: Think about why you chose to share this activity or event and why it is of importance to your organisation.

•Headlines Headlines catch the reader’s eye, which is why it is important to keep them short and simple. Don’t give the full story away, but make sure to give your article, gallery, video or resource a clear context that is easy for the reader to understand.

• PhotosAlways upload a photo with your blog post. Since it will be shown as part of the grid on the homepage, it is also important to pick an interesting and engaging photo that is relevant to what your post is about. • Please remember: This is a public blog, and readers may not be familiar with your organisation, streetfootballworld, orthefieldofdevelopmentthroughfootball.Makethecontentofyourprofile, blogs, videos, events and resources easy to understand, without adding abbreviations or terminology that others might not be familiar with.

How to create a Facebook page

Facebook is a handy social media tool. It serves as another useful way for your organisation to be seen by a broader audience. Since the streetfootballworld website has been programmed to automatically display content from network members’ Facebook pages, it is worth setting up a page for your organisation.

This instructional video will guide you through the steps required to create a Facebook page.

If you have any further questions about making a Facebook page, please contact streetfootballworld for guidance.

How to create a donation platform

Ifyourorganisationhasadonationplatform, yournetworkmemberprofilewilldisplaya donate button that readers can click on to make a direct donation. Having a donation platform on the streetfootballworld website gives your organisation the possibility to collect donations from a larger audience.

This instructional video will direct you on how to create your own donation platform on a central donation platform called betterplace.org.

If you have any further questions, please contact streetfootballworld for guidance.
