NCU2User-friendly graphical interface for NFE configuration

A lightweight Windows-based tool that supports the most commonly used NFE master and slave protocols

FEATURESEnjoy the ease and flexibility of a graphical user interface when preparing an NFE configuration for your Netcon Gateway units

Benefit from assistance and check-ups that help you eliminate errors

Import CSV files directly from the SCADA and use them as the basis for your NFE configuration to ensure that they match

Use the included SCD Import/Export Tool to convert selected points from IEC 61850 configuration files to CSV

Export your finished configuration to a standard .txt file – or upload it directly to NFE using a remote connection to the Gateway unit

Download existing configurations from Gateway units

Use Events and Online Views for the live monitoring and even control of your RTU

User-friendly graphical interface for NFE configuration

NCU2 offers a graphical interface for configuring the NFE communic ations software run on Netcon Gateway products. It is a light weight Windows application. You no longer need to use the command line to build or edit your configuration – but you can still do so whenever you want.

FLEXIBLE WORKFLOW OPTIONS

NCU2 allows you to create an RTU configuration:

• from scratch, building it entirely within the SW,• by importing an existing configuration as text, or• by importing a CSV-formatted I/O list.

You can save your configuration as an .ncu project file and reopen it later for further inspection and editing.

NCU2 helps you build the cross-references between the RTU (master protocol) and the SCADA (slave protocol) and to exclude unnecessary points.

Elsewhere too, NCU2 checks your settings and alerts you to problems.

FROM CSV FILE TO CONFIGURATION

If you have a CSV-formatted I/O and cross-reference list, you just need to import it to NCU2 and the hardest part of the configuration is already done.

SCD Import/Export Tool

Packaged together with NCU2 you will find our SCD Import/Export Tool. It helps you convert standard SCD, CID and IID configuration files for IEC 61850 -compliant IEDs (intelligent electronic devices) to the CSV format.

With this tool and Excel, you can combine I/O lists from different sources and even for different devices. Add the appropriate headers and export – you have a CSV file ready for import to NCU2.

DIRECT UPLOAD, COMMAND-LINE EDITS

If you have an online connection to your Netcon Gateway device, you can upload the finished configuration directly to the Monitor module of the NFE instance on that device.

At this point the configuration is just text and can be further edited through the command line. Neither you nor anyone else will be locked to using NCU2. The program is just one handy tool in the project engineer’s arsenal.

LIVE MONITORING/CONTROL OF RTU

An online connection to a “live” GW502 module or GW502-iM RTU also enables you to use:

• Events View to monitor system and other events• Online View, through which you can even send

commands and setpoints to the Netcon 500 I/O.• Understand the substation status more clearly• Improve commissioning through higher visibility.
